80’s rock

Def Leppard and Tom Morello “Just Like ’73”

Well, this is fun!

Def Leppard has teamed up with Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello for a new track called “Just Like ’73”.

The song represents the musical awakening that the band experienced in the early seventies when iconic artists like David Bowie were changing the scene.

And, of course, it rocks:

Yup. That will do.

I really enjoyed that, especially with the addition of Tom Morello on guitar. It gives it that extra kick.

Honestly, I’m happy that bands from the 70’s and 80’s are still touring and making music. Sure, there’s haters out there saying that they should hang it up. I will never be that person.

Rock on, dammit!

Also, Def Leppard is on a huge tour once again with Journey,  Steve Miller Band, Heart and Cheap Trick- what a lineuo, right???- get dates at https://defleppard.com/home/

Skid Row and Lzzy Hale ROCK the Stage!

Yessss… I’ve been waiting for this!

Recently it was announced that Skid Row’s lead singer Erik Gronwall was leaving the band. They had tour dates to do, so they need a fill in, so… enter the Rock Goddess Lzzy Hale of Halestorm.

Sounds to good to be true, right?

Nope. She is legit filling in until they get a new lead singer.

Last night was her first show with the band at Walker’s Bluff Casino Resort in Carterville, Illinois, and they brought the huse down.

I’m a huge Lzzy fan, as she is just incredibly talented, and has really paved the way for more badass women in Rock.  I was really excited to see her covering all the Skid Row live, and of course, she didn’t disappoint.

I mean, it’s Lzzy Hale.

Check out her cover of “18 & Life”:

Dammmnnnn…

Oh, and of course, you can’t have a Skid Row concert without the power ballad “I Remember You”:

Yup. Killed it.

That is an incredibly hard song to sing, and that last vocal run is nearly impossible to nail. Sebastian Bach- the OG lead singer of Skid Row- may be a bit of a hot mess, but dude had the pipes.

If there’s anyone who can handle it, it’s definitely Lzzy.

Lzzy will be filling in for a few more dates, and you can find out more at https://loudwire.com/skid-row-setlist-video-lzzy-hale/

Can she just be the permanent replacement?

Please?

Bon Jovi “Legendary”

As a child of the 80’s and 90’s, naturally I’m a Bon Jovi fan. I mean, how can you NOT be? One of the greatest American Rock bands, and like many of them, they are still going strong.

This morning, I was pleasantly surprised to see not only a new song from the legendary band, but also an album announcement!

The new single “Legendary”, written by Jon Bon Jovi, Billy Falcon, and John Shanks, is basically a reflection of where Jon is in his life at 62.

He recently underwent surgery on his vocal chords, and during the break, he said he had time to re-evaluate his life, and recognize the things that really matter. And the song is a tribute to his wife Dorthea, who has been by his side since the beginning, hence the “Brown Eyed Girl” reference.

I love it! Just an overall happy song, and I am lucky to be able to relate, as I write this with my beautiful two-year old son stealing my phone and throwing it on the kithcen floor after sneezing on it, and my Husky snuggling my feet.

It’s the little things in life that matter.

We so often forget that.

Bon Jovi’s 16th studio album- and their first in four years- “Forever”- comes out on June 7th.

Bon Jovi Joins the Billion Views Club on Youtube!

Congrats to Bon Jovi by wrapping up the month with an honor that very few artists seem to achieve: The Billion View Club on YouTube!

(I wonder if they get a t-shirt or a sticker or something?)

Their signature song “Living on a Prayer” is the latest video to get that honor.

Wanna see it? Relive your glory days? Or just want a reminder of how badass the 80’s were?

Here ya go.

Sigh.

Can we bring feathered hair and fringed leather jackets back?

I’d be the first in line.
