Lynyrd Skynyrd and Jelly Roll “Tuesday’s Gone” Live

Ok, I was totally loving this.

One of my all-time favorite Southern Rock bands- Lynyrd Skynyrd- teamed up with Jelly Roll for a pretty solid rendition of “Tuesday’s Gone” as a part of Lynyrd Skynyrd’s upcoming album “Celebrating 50 Years-Live at The Ryman”.

Now, “Tuesday’s Gone” is one of my absolute favorite songs of all time, and this was, in my opinion, a pretty cool performance of it:

This song hits me deep in my soul every time.

One of my core memories is being 21, front row at a Skynyrd concert at Skullbone Music Park in Skullbone, TN.

June 4th, 2004.

Me and my best friend Erica singing this song at the top of our lungs in the pouring rain…

It doesn’t get better than that.

“Celebrating 50 Years- Live at the Ryman” will be available on June 27th, and I can’t wait for the rest!

Mad respect to this band for keeping is going for so long, and still delivering!

The Top Southern Rock Songs of All Time

Growing up in the South, I absolutely LOVE Southern Rock.

I’ve been to my share of Lynyrd Skynyrd concerts, played “Freebird” and “Tuesday’s Gone” on repeat during road trips, and teared up a bit when Gregg Allman passed away.

I once got hit on by the drummer for Molly Hatchett.

You get the picture…

And no, the Molly Hatchett drummer was not successful in his pursuit of then 21 year-old me.

One of my favorite websites- http://ultimateclassicrock.com– just released a list of the “Top 35 Southern Rock Songs of All Time”, and for once, I can’t really argue with a”Best Of” music list:

1.  “Whipping Post”,  The Allman Brothers Band:

YESSSSS!  This song will forever be on my playlist. Everything about it is pure Southern Rock perfection.

2.  “Free Bird”,  Lynyrd Skynyrd:

Well, maybe this one should be #1… either way, one of the best Southern Rock songs of all time. I just heard it earlier today and cranked up the dial to rock out to it on the way home from the gym.

3.  “Sweet Home Alabama”,  Lynyrd Skynyrd:

Well, yeah.

Turn it UP!

4.  “Midnight Rider”,  Gregg Allman:

5.  “Ramblin’ Man”,  The Allman Brothers Band:

6.  “La Grange”,  ZZ Top:

7.  “Dixie Chicken”,  Little Feat:

Full disclosure: I recently learned that the lyrics were “Tennessee Lamb” not “Tennessee Man”.

So, I’ve been singing it wrong for decades.

Oh, well.

8.  “Can’t You See”,  The Marshall Tucker Band:

9.  “Gimme Three Steps”,  Lynyrd Skynyrd:

10.  “Simple Man”,  Lynyrd Skynyrd:

This song hits a bit different now that I have a son.

And yes, half of the Top 10 are Skynyrd songs, as they shoud be. I just think “Tuesday’s Gone” should be in the Top 10.

Other than that, I can’t really argue the logic.
