Renzo Performing Aerosmith’s “Dream On” on “The Voice”

This is really impressive.

I’m just now getting back to watching singing reality competition shows after a long hiatus as my 3-year-old son loves them, and I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised by this guy Renzo on Season 28 of “The Voice’>

Covering Aersomith’s “Dream On” is a tall order for ANYONE, even Steven Tyler himself. Come to think of it, that’s probably how he destroyed his own vocal chords…

Anyhow, I was prepared to feel “meh” about this performance, as I have never really seen a great version other than the original, but holy moly, Renzo just nailed the bajeebus out of this song. (Is that even a word? It is now)

The high notes at the end are next freaking level.

Wait for it…

Impressive, right?

I haven’t watched much of Season 27, but if there is anyone better than that, well, hot damn.

The Season 27 Finale of “The Voice” is next Tuesday, May 20th on NBC, and I hope this guy makes it all the way.

With those notes? How could he not?

Steven Tyler is BACK!

Steven Tyler is back!!!

Ok, maybe not in Aerosmith touring shape just yet, but he did sing a few songs at his “Janie’s Fund” Grammy Watch Party this past Sunday night, and it sounds like his voice is making a solid comeback.

He blew out his voice singing on Aerosmith’s “Peace Out” Farewell tour, and the tour had to be cancelled as the damage to Steven’s voice was so bad.

Sounds like he’s making a comeback, though!

Damn, I love me some Steven Tyler.

Easily one of the most recognizable voices in Rock.

Oh, and he performed with one of my favorite Country singers right now- Lainey Wilson- on the iconic “Dream On”.

I am not ok right now.

That right there is a dream scenario for me.

Will Steven Tyler return to the stage with Aerosmith?

Let’s be real, probably not.

But as long as we get a little slice of Steven, we’re good.

Aerosmith’s Final Concert

It was announced on Friday that Aerosmith is retiring from live touring, and have cancelled the remainder of their “Peace Out” Farewell tour with The Black Crowes due to iconic lead singer Steven Tyler’s vocal chord injury.

Here’s the Official Statement:

I’ve been a lifelong fan of Aerosmith, and I can honestly say that they put on one of the best live shows EVER. I’ve had the pleasure of seeing them in concert several times, and once Steven Tyler actually pulled me on stage for a second, and I’m still not over that moment.

I completely understand and respect their decision to end their touring run, but it’s also sad to see this era of live music come to an end, and it just serves as a reminder that nothing lasts forever, so if there’s an artist you really want to see live, don’t wait.

That being said, here’s a video I found of Aerosmith’s final live show, and even in their mid-seventies, they still can rock like a band half their age:

Yeah, I can totally see how Steven Tyler blew a vocal chord after that.

So impressive. It’s safe to say they left it ALL on the stage.

Here’s the full version of their final show (though they didn’t know that at the time) at UBS Arena in Elmont, NY:

As I said, the end of an era…

This band has always been so speical to me. Ever since I saw them on MTV for the first time with the “Love in an Elevator” video when I was five, I have been in love with them. The sound, the swagger, the pure rock and roll energy… little me was never the same after that.

Thank you, Aerosmith, for the amazing live music memories, and for being the best American Rock Band ever. EVER.
