Carrie Underwood Performs “Alone” on “American Idol”

Ok, so I know I’ve sharing a lot of Carrie Underwood performances lately, but she’s so damn good, that I can’t help myself.

Other artists need to be stepping up their game, ok?

Last night on “American Idol”, which, yes, I am watching again sometimes as my 3-year-old son loves it, Carrie Underwood performed Heart’s “Alone” twenty years after her iconic performance on the show when she was a contestant.

And, naturally, she killed it:

Damn.

Aging like a fine wine, physically and vocally.

Remember two decades ago (yes, it’s been that long. Oof.) when she performed it and blew Simon Cowell away?

I remember seeing this live.

Hot damn, she’s come a long way. But even then, she was a star.

Just wanted to throw some CU vocal (and leg) appreciation out there!

Shaboozey and Jelly Roll “Amen”

Happy Friday!

Of course, Friday is when all the new music for the week drops, and I was pleasantly surprised by the Shaboozey/Jelly Roll collab called “Amen”.

It’s off of Shaboozey’s “Where I’ve Been, Isn’t Where I’m Going: The Complete Edition” which came out this morning.

It’s a pretty good tune. Catchy, easy to listen to, and has some pretty solid, profound lyrics:

We could all use a little mercy, right?

Honestly, I like it.

It’s like I could pray to it and two-step to it at the same time.

Multitasking, ya’ll.

Carrie Underwood “How Great Thou Art”

Since yesterday was Easter Sunday, “American Idol” did a 3-hour special called “American Idol: Songs of Faith”, and the performance that’s getting the most attention?

Carrie Underwood’s chill bump-inducing rendition of “How Great Thou Art”:

Woaaahhhh…

I’m not the most religious person on the planet, but that one is taking me right to church!

Just wanted to share that with you in case you missed it.

You’re welome.

Carrie Underwood’s talent is unmatched.

Morgan Wallen Feat. Post Malone “I Ain’t Comin’ Back”

Earlier this week, Post Malone confirmed that he is staying in the Country Music lane for the time being. And why not? It’s clearly working out for him, and legends like Dwight Yoakam vouching for him, as well as pretty much everyone else in Nashville, it makes total sense.

He also mentioned new music would be coming “soon”.

That was not an exaggeration.

Morgan Wallen tapped Posty for a collab on his upcoming album “I’m the Problem” for a song called “I Ain’t Comin’ Back”, and it totally hits the mark, as per usual with these two:

Catchy, good lyrics, and it’s got Morgan Wallen and Post Malone.

That’s basically the winning formula these days.

Check out Morgan Wallen’s 37 track (Yes, 37 track) album “I’m the Problem”, which will easily be a contender for the biggest album of the year, on May 16th.

Miley Cyrus “End of the World” Live From Chateau Marmont

Miley Cryus is turning into one hell of an artist.

She annoyed me during her Hannah Montana days, then her twerking days, but these last several years, she is proving that she definitely has the damn goods.

Her new single “End of the World” is pop perfection, and she delivered a live version of it today from the famed Chateau Marmont:

I absolutely adore her smoky, alto voice, and the emotion that she can deliver to a song.

If you haven’t heard the studio version, it’s pretty awesome:

“End of the World” is off of her new album “Something Beautiful” which comes out May 30th.

I can’t wait to hear what she has for us next!

Blake Shelton “Stay Country or Die Tryin'”

I’m going to be real honest here… although I have always loved Blake Shelton, I haven’t been a fan of his past few releases. Not since “God’s Country”, at least.

Well, he just dropped a new track off of his upcoming album “For Recreational Use Only” written by Drew Parker, Graham Barham, Sam Ellis and Beau Bailey called “Stay Country or Die Tryin'”, and I’m kind of digging it:

Now, this version of Blake takes me back to the “Ole’ Red” days, which is a good thing.

I know non-Country peeps will roll their eyes at the song and title, but I get it.

I grew up in rural West Tennessee, and plan on returning to the farm as soon as my husband retires from the Army. I miss that world and that life. And I get it- if you have never lived it, you’ll most not likely not get it. But fun fact: there’s a huge world in between the major metros that lives this.

Having lived in both worlds, I’m ready to go back. This song reminds me of those I grew up with, and my husband and his family. Also, my daddy had a John Boat that came in handy when our roads would floods when the Forked Deer river overflowed. And we have the American flag flying and perhaps not a Boone Crockett deer on the wall, but there are some pretty solid 8-10 points on the wall, and a ton of turkey beards.

Don’t hate.

Blake Shelton’s new album “For Recreational Use Only” is out on May 9th.

Are These The Saddest Songs in Country Music?

One of the big Country Music-centric websites Theboot.com just released a list of the “Saddest Songs in Country Music”… like any list that’s not research-based, it’s totally debatable.

Let’s see what you think!

1.  “Go Rest High on That Mountain” by Vince Gill

2.  “Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain” by Willie Nelson

3.  “I’m So Lonely I Could Cry” by Hank Williams

4.  “The Grand Tour” by George Jones

5.  “Summer’s End” by John Prine

6.  “D-I-V-O-R-C-E” by Tammy Wynette

7.  “Elephant” by Jason Isbell

8.  “Crazy” by Patsy Cline

9.  “Concrete Angel” by Martina McBride

10.  “I’m Not Gonna Miss You” by Glen Campbell

Check out the full list at https://theboot.com/ixp/204/p/happiest-saddest-songs-country-music/

Pretty solid list, but it’s also blasphemy that “Whiskey Lullaby” by Brad Paisley and Allison Krause didn’t rate in the Top 10. Or… what about Garth Brooks “The Dance”? Or Miranda Lambert’s “Tin Man” to name a few???

That’s NOT ok…

What is your go-to sad Country song?

Benson Boone and Brian May Perform “Bohemian Rhapsody” at Coachella

Ok, I LOVE Queen- one of my favorite bands of all-time- and I adore Benson Boone. He is one of the most talented and unique newer artists out there, and worlds collided last night at Coachella.

After Brian May teased a potential collab yesterday on instagram, he joined Benson onstage for one hell of a version of Queen’s iconic “Bohemian Rhapsody” with a full choir. It’s pretty freaking great:

Dang.

Ok, we all know that there will never be another Freddie Mercury, but Benson Boone still sang the hell out of the song, and did one heck of a great tribute.

Also, Brian May is life. Is it weird that I have always had a crush on him?

Also, if you’re like ,”Who the heck is Benson Boone”?

This guy:

Yeah, he’ll be around for a while.

Good.

Ernest Featuring Snoop Dogg “Gettin’ Gone”

Well, this was fun.

One of my favorite newer Country artists on the scene ERNEST has teamed up with legend that is Snoop Dogg for a fun tune called “Gettin’ Gone”, and it’s so going to be on my Summer playlist:

How cool is that? Perfect Summer road trip song.

Honestly, a little dash of Snoop Dogg makes everything more fun…

If you’re not familiar with the awesomeness that is ERNEST, educate yourself at https://ernestofficial.com/ and be on the lookout for his next project “The Cadillac Sessions” on May 9th.

Carrie Underwood Joins Papa Roach Onstage for “Last Resort”

Carrie Underwood is your All-American girl next year, just with an incredible set of pipes (and legs)! She usually stays in the Country and Gospel lane, but every now and again, Carrie puts on her rock girl panties and it’s always glorious.

She’s toured with Guns N’ Roses before (talk about legit, right?), and recently joined Papa Roach onstage for a version of “Last Resort”, and she owns it:

Dammit, woman, is there anything she can’t sing?

She also performed the single that she has out with Papa Roach called “Leave a Light On”, and all proceeds from this song go to suicide prevention:

If you weren’t aware of this song, here’s the actual recorded version:

Badass, and for a great cause.

Honestly, a Carrie Underwood rock covers album wouldn’t be a bad idea, am I right?

Let’s make this happen, ok?
