Kane Brown and Katelyn Brown “Do Us Apart”

This past Friday, Kane Brown released his latest album “The High Road”, which is full of collabs- which is the thing lately- he’s got everyone from Brad Paisley to Jelly Roll on his new release. And, like his last album, he has tapped his incredibly vocally talented wife Katelyn for two duets. One- called “Do Us Apart” is really pretty, and has more a traditional Country sound than a lot of Kane Brown’s songs.

I’m just in love with Katelyn’s voice. She was an aspiring singer prior to marrying Kane, and holy smokes, she’s good!

Now, the song reminds me a lot of Cody Johnson and Carrie Underwood’s duet that’s on the radio now called “I’m Gonna Love You”, but I almost like this one better. It just has a cool vibe to it. And honestly, I like Kane Brown’s voice and style better when he’s keeping it more traditional and not getting too Pop/Hip Hop with it. But that’s just what I prefer style-wise, as 90’s Country is what I grew up on.

Another song I like on Kane’s new album is his latest radio single “Backseat Driver”, which as a toddler mom, I can totally appreciate:

Again, a more traditional Country sound with this one. Yes, I’m old school.

Kane Brown “I Can Feel It”

It’s been a big week for Phil Collins and “In the Air Tonight”.

First off, Chris Stapleton, Snoop Dogg and Cindy Blackman Santana debuted their version of the classic for this season’s “Monday Night Football” this past Monday… and it’s stellar.

So, there’s that, and Kane Brown just dropped a song that heavily samples “In the Air Tonight” called “I Can Feel It”:

Yes, Kane did get Phil’s permission to do this.

I honestly don’t hate it. It’s fun, radio-friendly, catchy… and has the iconic drum solo. I did think he said “I Saw Your Boobs Bouncing to the Beat” in the first verse, but it was boots, not boobs.

Been cooler if he had said boobs.

Anyhow, this song follows the new trend of sampling Classic Rock staples in Country music. I’m ambivalent about it. I love Classic Rock, and this is a good way to keep bringing the music to a new audience. BUT… my heart will always belong to the originals.

That being said, expect more of this in the future. Also, expect more Kane Brown as he’s working on a new album and announced a tour for next year.

Kane and Katelyn Brown “Thank God”

I’m going to be completely honest- I was never a big Kane Brown fan.  Nothing against him- he has a great voice and story- but I never really clicked with his music until this song dropped this morning. “Thank God” fetaures his wife Katelyn’s vocals, and damnnnnn… she’s incredible. I knew she was a singer- but I didn’t realize that she was of that caliber. Seriously, give that woman a record deal!

I really love their voices together, and this is just a sweet song that I can see on the radio, and played at pretty much every wedding.

My family has a wedding venue in West Tennessee (Cogan’s Farm- look it up!) and I’m always on the lookout for great wedding songs, and this one makes the cut for sure.

Also, Kane Brown’s new album “Different Man” just dropped today. I’m really just wanting to hear more of his wife! Damn, girl!
