Queen “Face It Alone”

I’ve been waiting for this for awhile… and it’s here!

Brian May (iconic guitarist of Queen for those not well-informed on such matters) announced earlier this year that Queen would be putting out a new album with the late Freddie Mercury’s vocals.  Engineers spliced some stuff from recording sessions in the late 80’s to make it happen, and you know what? It’s pretty flipping spectcular.

Freddies vocals still give me the chills, and Brian May’s guitar solo is on fire, as per usual.

Can you totally see this song on a movie soundtrack? Like a Bond movie or something. That’s the vibe I’m getting.

Any more recordings that can be spliced together, guys? I may need more of this.

Mackenzie Carpenter “Hunting Season”

My husband is an avid hunter. When I say avid, I mean completely, unabashadly obsessed.

I can’t tell you how many times I get asked if I’m pissed that he spends so much time in the woods chasing turkey and deer… and you know what? BMLG artist Mackenzie Carpenter hit the nail on the head on how I feel with this song.

Look, my husband is amazing and I love being with him. But I also love my alone time (well, as much alone time as one can have with an almost 1 year old) and doing my own thing. I always have, which is why I’ve been able to easily handle the Army Wife Life for the past 15 years.

I don’t know why people think that in a relationship you have to spend all of your time together.

Why?

That’s kind of ridiculous, don’t you think?

Honestly, I’d rather have my husband chasing Buck Racks than the other kind of rack, you know what I’m saying?

Anyway, shout out to Mackenzie for a fresh take in this song! I can’t wait to hear more from her.

Boomtown Saints “All Trucks Go to Heaven”

Aaaaaahhhh! I am SO excited for these guys!!!!!

Boomtown Saints- Chris Ramos and Ben Chism- are the nicest ever, and their new single “All Trucks Go to Heaven” is taking off in Nashville. As it SHOULD!!! It’s perfect.

I’m so proud of these guys.

We also got to catch up this week- check the interview to find out more about Boomtown Saints!

I am so, so happy for Ben and Chris, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for them.

Watch out, Nashville!!!

The Whitney Houston Biopic Trailer is Here!

Whitney Houston is a massive part of the soundtrack to my childhood. And since she came on the scene back in the 80’s, she has really set the bar as far as incredible vocal talent, beauty, and magnetism.  There will never be another her. That being said, when I heard there was a biopic being done on her life and career, I thought, “Dude… that’s a TALL order”. Then again, I thought that when I heard about “Bohemian Rhapsody” and I loved that movie.

Here’s the trailer:

Naomi Ackie plays Whitney, and it’s a bold move. But I’m willing to give her a chance! Some commentors are complaining that she doesn’t look like Whitney, but seriously…who the heck DOES? She was one in a million.  I love music biopics, and I love that Stanley Tucci plays Clive Davis in this one. So will I see it? You bet.  I’ll withhold judgement until then.

“I Wanna Dance With Somebody” hits theaters December 21st!

Kane and Katelyn Brown “Thank God”

I’m going to be completely honest- I was never a big Kane Brown fan.  Nothing against him- he has a great voice and story- but I never really clicked with his music until this song dropped this morning. “Thank God” fetaures his wife Katelyn’s vocals, and damnnnnn… she’s incredible. I knew she was a singer- but I didn’t realize that she was of that caliber. Seriously, give that woman a record deal!

I really love their voices together, and this is just a sweet song that I can see on the radio, and played at pretty much every wedding.

My family has a wedding venue in West Tennessee (Cogan’s Farm- look it up!) and I’m always on the lookout for great wedding songs, and this one makes the cut for sure.

Also, Kane Brown’s new album “Different Man” just dropped today. I’m really just wanting to hear more of his wife! Damn, girl!

Hardy and Lainey Wilson “Wait in the Truck”

Damn, HARDY… way to write a powerful Country song!

Anyone who has been a victim of domestic abuse can appreciate this.  Yes, I’ve been there. I’m so damn lucky to be out of that relationship.

Anyhow, HARDY is quickly becoming one of the most celebrated songwriters in Country music, and Lainey Wilson, well, she’s a freaking superstar in the making. Both the song and the video will get you hard.

Right? Damnnnn…

Definitely one of the most important songs of the year in Country music. After all, isn’t that what the genre is about? Telling a story.

Ad Hardy can definitely do that.

Who do you think they’re missing?

I’m wondering where Shania Twain “The Woman In Me” and Garth’s “Pieces” is… those surely deserve on the list?

Or maybe I’m just partial as those were some of my favorites growing up, and both albums had a bunch of radio hits.

Elton John and Britney Spears “Hold Me Closer”

Not gonna lie, I’ve been waiting on this since I heard that it was happening.  I LOVE Elton John, and I grew up loving Britney, so of course I had to get excited about a collab.  “Hold Me Closer” is a dance remix of Elton John’s iconic “Tiny Dancer” and I’m kind of digging it. Over-produced? Duh.  Over Auto-tuned? Absofreakinglutely. But will I sing along in the car? You freaking know it.

And that’s all that matters, right?

I think it’s awesome that Elton John doesn’t take himself too seriously, and that he is down with working with newer artists and just having fun with his classics (like he did last year with Dua Lipa and “Cold Heart”). He said he hopes this collab “helps Britney heal, and I think it’s great that someone who is an absolute legend like him is willing to help other artists, and just have fun with his music.

I know there will be some haters saying that Elton ruined his song.

Nah. It’s just a fun re-imagining of it.

Again, who cares? Enjoy the bop.

Blake Shelton “No Body”

I’ve always loved Blake Shelton since the days when he had his orginal mullet and was singing about answering machines with “Austin”…and he’s brought the mullet back with his new single “No Body”!  It’s just a fun, easy-listening Country song that honors some of the best 90’s hits.  As a 90’s Country kiddo, I can definitely appreciate. Plus, who doesn’t love a good line dance?

Also, Blake Shelton is just one of the nicest, most down-to-Earth humans ever.  So, I’m always happy to support him!

Also, I just remembered that my parents had a line-dancxe instruction video on VHS when I was a kid.  I don’t think they ever actually watched it, though.
