Luke Grime’s “No Horse To Ride”

If you’re like me, and a huge “Yellowstone” fan, then you’re familiar with Luke Grimes AKA Kacye Dutton.  I’m guessing playing a cowboy on the show has inspired him to try his hand at Country music.  And the result? Not too shabby.

Check out his first single “No Horse to Ride”

It’s not terrible, right? Sounds like something that would be on the “Yellowstone” soundtrack for sure- and I’m just happy he didn’t go the “Bro-Country” route.

He just signed with UMG Nashville, which is a pretty big deal, so we can expect an album soon.  Definitely looking forward to hearing more from Luke!

Megan Moroney “Tennessee Orange”

Ok, so a few weeks back I was posting about Morgan Wallen’s new song “Tennessee Fan” (I’m from the great state of Tennessee. I had to share it- moral obligation)

Well, rumor has it that it’s inspired by this new song by Megan Moroney called “Tennessee Orange”.  According to the rumor mill, they had a thing going for a while, but niether Morgan or Megan would confiem nor deny it.  Either way, it’s a fantastic song!

Pretty dang solid. And it’s starting to chart in the Country world, so I’m thinking you can expect to hear a lot more of Megan in the future.  Plus, her name is Megan and spelled correctly like mine, so #respect.

Kenny Chesney “Da Ruba Girl”

Dogs are life, right?

So, I was sad to hear that Kenny Chesney lost his dog “Ruby” this week.  Losing a pet is absolutely heartbreaking, but Kenny is turning that heartbreak into a positive with his song honoring Ruby. “DaRubaGirl” is meant to honor Ruby and raise awareness for pet adoption.  There’s actually a link on the video where you can donate to “Stray Rescue”, which is pretty fantastic.

I love that Kenny adopted Ruby. Every dog I’ve had has been a rescue, and it’s one of the best things I’ve done in my life.

Please consider adoption…or at least donating to your local rescue.

Morgan Wallen “Tennessee Fan”

A few months ago, Morgan Wallen was teasing a new song called “Tennessee Fan” after the Tennessee beat Alabama (which happens NEVER), and it caused a lot of excitement.

Well, the full song dropped this morning! Happy Friday!

It’s a part of Morgan’s new release that came out today called “One Thing at a Time” which features three new songs including “Tennessee Fan”.

Oh, and his doing a world tour next year with HARDY, Parker McCollum, ERNEST and Bailey Zimmerman, which will be pretty damn amazing.

We’ve got a lot of new music from so many incredible artists coming our way… I’ll do my best to keep you posted!

Dolly Parton Goes Rock!

If there’s one thing everyone can agree on, it’s that Dolly Parton is a National Treasure.  She was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame a few weeks ago, and it aired on HBO this past weekend.  During the ceremony, Dolly confirmed that she is making a rock album, and performed a new song called “Rockin'” to celebrate.

Is it really rock? Nah.  But Dolly is a QUEEN and can do whatever the hell she wants.

Oh, and she enlisted Steve Perry- former frontman of Journey- to help her with her new album, and more to come, so I’m thinking this could be pretty great.

DOLLY FOR PRESIDENT, ya’ll!

Casey Donahew Interview!

I looove me some Texas and Red Dirt Country!  I was introduced to the genre in 2011 when my husband and I moved to Fort Riley, KS where it was played on the radio, and we loved it! And it’s been really fun to see more people get into the music, which is fantastic, by the way.  One of the staples of Red Dirt/Texas Country is The Casey Donahew Band.  They’ve been on the scene for twenty years, and are still killing it with their new album “Built Different”.  I got a chance to chat with Casey, which I’ve been wanting to do for years, so I was all for it!

Here’s the new single “Starts in a Bar”

When you get the chance, check out the entire Casey Donahew Band Catalogue.  And educate yourself on Red Dirt and Texas Country. You won’t be sorry.

Neon Union Live Performance!

So, today at the station, a hot new Country duo called Neon Union stopped by to play us a few songs at the Silversound Guitar Studio and they were incredible!

Plus, some of the nicest guys you could ever hope to meet.

Here’s a few of their songs:

“Bout Damn Time”

“This Side of the Dirt”

“Made in Mexico”

Aren’t they freaking good?  They’re just getting started, too.

Thank you Jab Entertainment for bringing them to us today.   This was a total treat.

And yes, my baby Brandon was trying to perform harmonies in the background.  Some moms take their babies to daycare. I take mine to artist showcases.  Brandon’s not mad at it.

Hannah Ellis Interview

The first time I heard “Country Can” on the radio, I immediately had to look up the artist Hannah Ellis and track her down!  Luckily, I was able to catch a few minutes with her and she is just as cool as her song!

Isn’t she fun?  I especially love her story about being on “The Voice”- it just proves that if you really, really want something to happen, you have to chase it down, and not take NO as an answer.

Check out “Country Can” – it’s definitely one of my favorite new Country songs this year!

I can’t wait to see what happens for Hannah in the future. Whatever it is, I’m pretty sure it’s going to be awesome.

Luke Bryan “Prayin’ in a Deer Stand”

I’ll be completey honest- not a big fan of most of Luke Bryan’s music.

Luke Bryan himself? Nicest guy ever. Seriously an awesome guy.  But his “Long tan legs, get in the back of my truck, drink from my cup” brand of Country never really gelled with me.  (I mean, what about all the women with short, pale legs? Where’s the love for them?)

Well, he just dropped a song that- due to the title- I had to check out.

My husband is an avid hunter, and he’s said many times that he finds God when hunting.  Hunting isn’t something that I don’t partake in personally, but I do understand and support hunting, and can make a mean venison stew.

It’s funny, when I told my husband this morning about this song, he said “Bet he’s got a girl with long tan legs in cutoff jeans up in that deer stand”, but then I played it for him, and he had to admit that it’s a good song, and that he definitely relates to it.

That’s what Country music is, after all.  Or what it should be, at least.

I hope Luke keeps putting out more songs like this!
