“Creep” Goes Country!

Country singer ERNEST released a pretty solid album last Friday called “Nashville, TN”, and it’s got several big collabs on there, including ones with Lainey Wilson, Morgan Wallen, and this interesting cover with HARDY.

They were brave enough to cover the Radiohead Classic “Creep”- check it out below:

Hmmmm… I’m kind of on the fence with this one. I absolutely LOVE the original version, and it’s kind of hard to beat that. But hey, solid effort for sure.

Honestly, my favorite cover of “Creep” will always be Post Modern Jukebox’s version featuring “Amercian Idol” finalist Hailey Reinhart:

Damnnnn… never gets old.

I mean, how sexy is that? Her voice is absoutely out of this world.

What do you think of ERNEST and HARDY’s version?

Kelly Clarkson “What Was I Made For?”

Welp, Kelly Clarkson just went and did it again!

On today’s “Kellyoke” segment on “The Kelly Clarkson Show”, Kelly NAILED her cover of Billie Eilish’s Oscar Award-Winning  “What Was I Made For?” from the “Barbie” movie soundtrack.

I mean, Billie does a great job on the song, but Kelly killed it by using her full voice on the tune, making it sound completely different, and completely amazing.

Really, having Kelly Clarkson cover your song is a double-edged sword.

It’s an honor, but Kelly is likely going to make each song even better than the original.

I mean, hot damn. Woman can SING!

I really love watching her “Kellyoke” covers, and each day she proves what an incredible and versatile vocalist she is.

Catch “The Kelly Clarkson Show” weekdays on NBC.

Slay, girl, slayyyyyy…

Teddy Swims Covers Taylor Swift

Teddy Swims is one of the biggest new talents on the scene, with an absolutely astounding voice.  He hit i big in 2023 with “Lose Control”, and he’s just getting started.

As a sucker for a good cover song, my attention was drawn to a live performance of Taylor Swift’s “Cruel Summer” that he performed on BBC Radio earlier this week.

HOT DAMN!

That was fantastic.

And I wonder how much it hurt o get those eyelids tattooed.

I can’t wait to see where Teddy goes next. As I mentioned before, this is just the beginning.

SUCH a talent.

Exit Eden “Separate Ways”

One of my friends – what up Tony Page Jr.!- alerted me to the recent existence of this cover of one of my favorite Joureny songs “Separate Ways”. It’s by an all-female supergroup called “Exit Eden” who specialize in stellar covers, and I was pretty damn impressed.

It’s like a a mash-up of “The Craft” and “Celtic Women”. That’s the vibe I’m getting.

The group is composed of Marina La Torraca, Clementine Delauney, and Anna Brunner, and will release their new album “Femme Fatales” on January 14th.

I’m honestly excited to hear more. These are some hella talented women, and I can’t wait to hear what else they cover!

Lana Del Ray “Take Me Home, Country Roads”

I just stumbled upon a version of John Denver’s classic “Take Me Home, Country Roads” that Lana Del Ray just reimagined, and you know what? It’s pretty stellar.

Kind of hauntingly beautiful, isn’t it?

Being from the country myself, this song always resonated with me, and this is just an extra cool version that I am definitely adding to the playlist.

It turns out, Lana was inspired to record a version of this song after a recent tour to the Southern states and Appalachia.

I know there are some people who complain about covers and reimagined versions of songs, but I like hearing different voices on classics. I think Lana Del Ray nailed it on this one.

Miley Cyrus Singing Journey’s “Faithfully”

As time goes on, I am definitely becoming more and more of a Miley Cyrus fan.  I wasn’t into her in her “Hannah Montana” days, nor her music right after. Some of her songs on the “Bangerz” album were good, but her public persona was a bit much for me at the stage of life I was in. But now?  Miley has grown as an artist and a person and is really impressive. These past few years, she has really turned my head as an artist, and she keeps getting better.

Case in point: Her version of Journey’s “Faithfully” at her 31st Birthday Party at Chateau Marmont:

Well, she just slayed that, and made it her own.

“Faithfully” is one of my favorite 80’s Power Ballads, and I love the spin she put on it. She made it her own.

Anyone else hope she releases her version as a single?
