New Song of the Week 2-9-21

I’ve always loved a good cover song. For instance, Metallica’s cover of Bob Seger’s “Turn the Page”, Motley Crue’s cover of “Smokin’ in the Boys Room”, Clint Black’s version of “Desperado”, Manfred Mann’s version of Bruce Springsteen’s “Blinded By the Light”… the list goes on and on. I love hearing “re-imagined” songs!

To be fair, I was kind of like, “Er, really??” when I saw that there was a metal cover floating around, but I gave it a few listens, and you know what? It ain’t half-bad.

I’m a big Garth fan, and obviously, noone can touch him, as far as I’m concerned.  But this version is pretty cool, and I thought I’d share it with you.  The song lends itself well to a rock version.  And it’s definitely getting some attention to State of Mine, so props to them!

Middle Age, I See You!!!

I’m 38 today, which is cool.  I’ve not been one to really cry over getting older.  The other option is way worse, so I’ll take it. And to be honest, there’s not much difference between 18-year old me and 38-year old me, aside from a few crows feet, and my neck starting to do weird things, and my back hurting when I wake up sometimes. Aside from those minor indignancies, those 20 years have been pretty dang good.  I’ve even learned a few things over the past two decades.  Since I’m a kind and giving soul, I shall pass on what I learned to all you whippersnappers.  And those who have a few years on you, you never know. You may learn something anyway.

#1: Love Yourself!

Like the great RuPaul once said “If you can’t love yourself, how in the HELL can you love someone else?”  It’s pretty profound, because it’s true.  People who love themselves (in a healthy, non-Kanye West like way) are happier and more able to keep that love going.  People who truly love themselves and have a good relationship with oneself have no need to be hateful, spiteful, or any of those non-fun things.  I highly recommend it.

Really, you SHOULD love yourself, because you’re the one stuck with yourself all day, everyday. Makes total sense to me. So, get on that.

#2:  Work Hard

You would think that’s a no-brainer, right?  But there’s a lot of lazy fools out there who think that things should get handed to them because they breathe.

Um, no.

One of the best things I learned from my parents was a work ethic. You want something? Great. Earn it.  You get a job, show up, have a good attitude, learn, and wear deodorant. It’s not complicated.

#3: Learn About Finances

I can’t stress this ENOUGH!!!!!  I’m not math major, but money coming in should be more than money going out if at all possible.  I’m going to quote my mother on this one, “Always live below your means, and you’ll never be broke”.  She gave me that advice at 20.  For once I actually listened.  I really feel like money and finance classes NEED to be a Core requirement in all high schools.  Pretty sure that would have been way more useful than the ecology class I had in 11th grade where all I had to do was take out the trash to pass.

#4: Don’t Bleach Your Hair

It will die. And you will be sad. And it will take seven years to grow back. True story from the time my hair got accidentally bleached at a salon in Manhattan, KS.

Which leads me to #5…

#5: YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!!!!!!

I learned this one later in life.  I was always thrifty and saved money where I could.  Which is great, and very helpful…BUT some things are worth paying more for. Hair is definitely one of them as I found out the hard way.  Same goes for running shoes, toilet paper, and coffee.

#6: Only Be Around People Who Are Nice to You!!!

Again, a later in life lesson for me.  If someone didn’t like me, I used to freak out, wonder what I did wrong, and then TRY to make whatever tasteless human who didn’t like me, and guess what? Doesn’t work. Not everyone will like you.  But also, not everyone is smart.  So…just be around people who like you.  Life has been so much better since I worked that one out.

#7: Also, Love Someone Kind

Young me only liked boys who were NOT nice to me. (My sincerest apologies to all of the lovely young men who I may have hurt during my late teens and early twenties.  It really wasn’t you. It was me. I was a moron. Most young women are when it comes to love.) Thankfully I saw the light at the age of 24, and settled down with someone who is a good human, AND loves me for me. God bless him.

I highly recommend not settling down with an asshole.  I don’t care how hot he or she is.  Just, no.  Trust me on this one.  Happiness is fun.

#8:  You CAN be nice to someone even if you disagree with them.  I think that 96% of the population forgot this one in recent years.  Really, to dislike someone because they have a differing opinion than you is not only stupid, but childish.  And if you must be angry at them for this, then just ignore them instead of being rude on social media all the while misspelling half of the words.  Which brings me to my NEXT life lesson…

#9: Grammar is Your Friend, People!

Learn it.

Use it.

And for the love of GOD, if you’re going to argue on social media, spell and punctuate correctly.  Or your post will be automatically dismissed. At least to me it will.  I’m not the brightest crayon in the box, but I know what a comma is for!

And if you send me your resume, please don’t e-mail me saying “R U looking for an employee?”

No. I’m not.   Not until you can spell out the word.  And that actually did happen more than once.

#10: Forgive

People will always disappoint you, as you will them. It may take a while, but forgiveness lightens a heart and gives you less wrinkles. At least, it should.

#11: Don’t Drink Two Glasses of Wine and Do a One-Handed Cartwheel on a Hardwood Floor

I just learned that two weeks ago. And I have a badly sprained shoulder to show for it.

#12:  NEVER buy the screwtop wine.

You’ll thank me for this, kiddos.

Cheers to living, learning, getting older and kind of wiser.

Be kind, love one another, bad grammar and all.

Going Viral (In a Good Way)

What’s it like to go viral?  Like on the internet? (Not COVID)

I may actually know a thing or two about that.

I don’t know if you’ve ever seen the “Wine Workout” videos – they were really popular a couple of years back- but if you have, most likely it was one of my videos. There were a few copycats later on, but I was the OG of Wine Workouts.  What a thing to be known for right? Overall, I’ve had over 500 million views total on Facebook alone, and I have no idea how many on other social media sites, but it was definitely a crazy thing! Here’s a few of my terrible ( but fun!) ideas:

So, yeah, those are a few of the videos that ended up making the rounds online.  I’ve had a few other non-alcohol related videos take off, usually involving my awesome dog Cash, or my family’s animals, and it’s been really fun to see them pop up in random places online, and see the internet’s reactions to them.  You can check out all the videos on my Youtube channel here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCSkrUpVBFD-AWmFSsTcUl7g

That being said, I often get a ton of questions from people about the videos, and going viral in general. Here’s the ones I always seem to get:

DO YOU MAKE ANY MONEY????

Of course, people always want to know that.  Which, honestly, I find kind of rude.  But if you really want to know, yes, I do.  Not a ton. Not enough to get rich or anything.  But with licensing with great companies like Storyful, Newsflare, and Jukin, it’s a nice side gig. It definitely pays for wine and then some.  I’ve been really lucky to have zero overhead or production and to be able to randomly make videos that sell.  Now, to really make money off of videos, you have to really commit to it and grow your Youtube channel (which I’m bad at doing) and put a lot of work into it, OR be a celebrity and have built in followers. I’m in neither camp, and just see the videos as a fun anitdote in my life.  My real gig is radio, and I want to keep it that way.  The videos are purely for fun.

HOW DID YOU GO VIRAL?

Luck! And a random, off the cuff idea that I came up with one day after the gym. I came home, and I saw a cartoon of a girl drinking wine while doing push-ups. My friend Stacy had sent it to me, and light bulb had gone off in my head.  Before I lost interest, I poured a glass of wine and stuck a straw in it and gave my phone to my husband.  I put the video up on one of the Facebook page of one of the radio stations that I worked for, and it went bananas, getting over 27 million views.

Yes, my form was terrible, but it was done on a whim, and I had absolutely NO idea what it was going to do. I remember being so excited about it, and pretty much everyone at work was like “So?”

Gotta love that kind of support.

Anyway, online outlets took notice, and then companies started reaching out and it pretty much snowballed from there. I was definitely onto something, so I kept making videos. Wine not??? So that’s how it happened. A total happy accident.  I just ran with it.

WHERE WERE YOUR VIDEOS FEATURED?

My favorite was a story on “Good Morning America”!  Lara Spencer and Amy Robach (two of my favorite women on tv!) covered and I’m still not ok.

Also, sites like People, Daily Mail, all the viral sites like Unilad and Viral Thread, Viral Spiral, Newsflare… it’s all been really cool.  Local tv stations have covered it, and I’m still in disbelief that something so simple could go so far.

Other fun videos that had a lot of reach…

Thanks to my BFF Erica for making the unicorn noises on this one…

I filmed the above video while working a wedding on my parents farm. I put it on YouTube and ABC News picked up the next week. It just goes to show that you NEVER know what will be a hit!

BUT WHAT ABOUT THOSE COMMENTS???

One of the things about going viral for WHATEVER reason is that people are rude and salty and will make terrible comments about anything.  Admittedly, it hurt at first, but after awhile, I realized that it wasn’t that big of a deal.  People, in general, can be absolutely terrible, and social media gives those kinds of people an outlet to be keyboard warriors.  So I learned to just laugh it off, and move on. It’s not like I actually know those people (thank God!) so I don’t take it personally.  If nothing else, it’s entertaining for me to see how idiotic people can be.  Oddly enough, it’s made me stronger, having to see those things written about me, and realizing that these opinions matter absolutely zero.   But if you ever do have something get a lot of traction online, prepare yourself for that fun.

OMG!!! DO YOU WORK OUT LIKE THAT EVERY DAY?

I get this one a lot.

People are idiots.

Absolutely not. It’s a freaking joke. For the eight millionth time, it’s just satire.  A funny idea.  In a perfect world, maybe.  But it’s insane to realize that a lot of people think it’s real.  I mean, come the heck on, seriously???  Then again, people think “The Bachelor” is real, so… maybe not so preposterous.

ARE YOU, LIKE, AN ALCOHOLIC?

Yes, really. That’s another popular question.

Like, what am I supposed to say? “Well, now that you mention it, yes, I certainly am.  I better go to a meeting.”

No.  I’m not. I love wine, but I’m really all about moderation.  But nobody likes videos about moderation, sooooo….

CAN YOU MAKE MY VIDEO GO VIRAL?

I get a lot of people sending me things telling me to make them go viral. I never really know what to do in that situation.  I just tell them to send them to an actual company and go from there.  I honestly have nothing to do with it. Sorry friends.

But what I CAN do is give you some tips on how to make a video that will get attention and perhaps have a shot at lots of views.

1: Keep it Short

People have the attention spans of gnats.  Get to the point! Now, longer videos have gone viral, but a majority are to the point. Keep it under a minute!

2: Get That Good Lighting!

Like instagram photos, bright, sharp, well-lit  videos get more attention that dark, out of focus ones.

3: Have Something That’s Relatable to the Masses

That’s a big one.  It’s got to be something that a lot of people will want to stop what they’re doing and watch.  If it goes well on your social media, then you’ll know you may have something.

4: Promote It!

Reddit is great for that.  Also, tell your friends to share! Don’t be afraid to self-promote.  It took me a while to get over that one.  I always felt uncomfortable asking people to share things, but I got over it, and you should too.

5: License it!

If you have a video that performs well on social media, you may get approached by video companies and definitely look into it!  How that works, is that a licensing company will have the rights to your video, promote it, and sell it to major news outlets.  You’ll get a cut of the profits.  It’s a lot easier than trying to pimp out a video yourself, and you can make a little extra money.

If you choose not to license it, you can let anyone use it, but you won’t get paid. And not having it licensed opens you up to people stealing your stuff and you getting NO credit for it.  Which happened to me a ton.  The worst is those OMG Quiz sites, who like to screen shot my videos and use them for advertising.  So, licensing with a company can help protect that from happening. And let me tell you from experience, getting a social media credit doesn’t really do anything for you.  You may get a few followers, but not what you would think. For instance, the video of me with the wine curl bar on Unilad had 47 million views.  There was a social media credit.  Did it really do anything for me? No.  I think I may have gotten 50 followers off of 47 million views. People just don’t care enough to click on it, and I get that.  Other people may have gotten a ton of followers, but it wasn’t that way for me.

Overall, going viral has been a really fun experience. I love seeing all the random places my videos end up, and it’s just a fun anecdote in my life.  It’s just not something to take seriously (for me, at least).  Just know that once your video is out there, it’s out there. There’s no taking it back on the internet.  Since I’m in radio, my ridiculousness is kind of encouraged. But if you have a real job, just be aware of the fact that there could be negative repercussions.

Let’s just hope my husband doesn’t run for office one day!

Good luck, and have fun- you just never know what will make the news.  If I did it, then seriously… it can’t be that hard.

Cheers!!!!!!

New Song of the Week 1/18/21

I’ve been a fan of The Weeknd from the start, and I am loving the pop music he is continuing to put out… “Save Your Tears” is a perfect throwback to the fizzy perfection of 80’s pop.  I want to put on old-school roller skates, and cruise around a rink to this.

The Weeknd is a force to reckoned with- super vocally talented, creative and just weird enough to be interesting. I can’ t wait to see what he does at the Super Bowl Half-Time Show on February 7th!

Not Everyone is Going to Like You, and That’s OK.

It’s a tough pill to swallow, but it’s one of the truths of life. No matter what you do, there is always going to be someone who just doesn’t like you. Or a lot of someones.  And you know what? That’s totally fine.  It took me a long time, and a lot of stress and worrying and second-guessing myself, but eventually it’s something I’ve come to accept. And you know what? It’s been oddly freeing.

I remember high school was really tough for me. I know that so many people claim they were bullied, and it was hard, blah, blah, blah… but looking back it was a really tough time for me. I started high school at 13, I was a late bloomer, and just super awkward. I was definitely my own person, and high school isn’t exactly the best environment for that. So, I tried to change. I remember trying to dress preppy like everyone else, and be a lesser version of myself to try and fit in, but that didn’t work at all.  I remember one day in Algebra- I was so proud of my “cool” outfit, and a couple of the guys started laughing at me and saying “Oh, look at Megan trying be like us! Ha. Loser”  And it hit me that changing wasn’t exactly the way to go.  It didn’t work, I was still me, and people still didn’t like me.  Lesson learned.  So I kept being my weird self, and eventually it got better. Not great, but at least I was being myself.  If people aren’t going to like you, it might as well be for the real you.

Fast-forward to college, relationships, and just still trying to fit in… I never could. I continued to try and be what other people would find more palatable, but that never worked either. I wasn’t happy, and I would only find happiness on the back of a horse, with my immediate family, or lost in a book. (Those are still my happy places! Thank GOD for them)  I was (and still am) tragically unhip before being unhip was cool.  I was lucky in the fact that I knew at least what I wanted to be – a radio personality- and really threw myself into my career, and was so lucky to be able to get my first full-time radio gig at twenty. Radio is the land of the outcasts, and I actually fit in that world more than any other.  I am so grateful that I found my career calling early and was able to continue in that world. But still… not everyone liked me.  It’s even more apparent in a public job, when people like to call you at work, or send you e-mails just to tell you how much you suck.  But you know what? In a weird way, it was good for me, number one because I kind of did suck at first, and it made me try harder to get better at what I do, and it also made me realize that some people suck, and their opinion doesn’t really matter.

This would continue to be the case as an Army wife, having to start over every one to two years- new place, new people, new jobs… some people accepted me, and I made great friends, but then again, some people just didn’t like me no matter how hard I tried to make them.  I’ve never been mean or rude (at least not knowingly) to others, and my natural personality is a people pleaser. I always want to make others happy and like me, and it does hurt, even today sometimes, when I can’t make that happen. It honestly took until my early thirties to really get comfortable with that cold hard fact that no matter what I did- hell, I could have saved kittens from a burning building, and some co-workers, fellow Army wives, listeners, etc. would say I would have saved those kittens in the wrong way- some people just won’t be a fan, and that’s totally fine. As long as I like me, and my family and husband, and I know I’m being a good human, that’s all that I can really do.  I wish I could have come to peace with that earlier, but I guess better late than never!

Oddly enough, the best exercise in truly getting over it was going viral. I had a few videos (Wine Workouts) that went viral, and holy macaroni… the comments! Hundreds upon hundreds of people saying how terrible I am, how dumb, ugly, alcoholic, and how they hope I die. No exaggeration. Go look one up. It’s morbidly entertaining.  I’ve even gotten death threats! Seriously, For squatting a wine bottle.  But seeing so many people that I have never met, and never will, who don’t know a damn thing about me say these things made me realize how preposterous they are.  And after the initial hurt, it became freeing.  I don’t know why, but it just hit me finally that there are many people in the world who just aren’t nice.  And that’s totally not my problem.

I only write this because I know that a lot of people struggle with this issue. If you don’t, high-five to you! But for those like me who want everyone to like you and to not be able to accomplish that, it does hurt.  But there are worse things in life.  No matter what you do, there is always going to be someone rolling their eyes, saying something snarky, and talking smack about you. Rise above it.  Usually people who feel the need to do that are seriously lacking something within themselves to feel the need to do that.  If you have people in your life that you know are like that, cut them out. You don’t need them.  My friend Michele once said that your true friends will always clap for you, and that is so damn true.  And if you don’t want to clap for someone, that’s fine, too. Just don’t be an ass about it.  Also, there are some people who don’t like red wine, peanut butter, and horses. Does that make them any less awesome? Does that make me love them less? Nope.  I’m just going to continue to enjoy myself and do what I love and find happiness within myself.

I hope you can, too.

Cheers!

Bye, 2020.

Oh, 2020… where do we even begin?

Yeah, so it’s been an absolutely ridiculous year. Definitely the dumbest one I’ve encountered in my almost 38 years on this planet.  Heck, my parents will be 70 and they said they’ve never seen such shenanigans either.

I will be honest, I was lucky this year. A few dings, but nothing insurance can’t fix.  I know this isn’t the case for so many around the world.  That was one fascinating (and disappointing) aspect of this year- the lack of compassion and understanding for others who aren’t in your situation. I know several people who would say, “Oh, I don’t get why people are mad about staying at home. I love it!” Really? Everyone isn’t you. So many lost their jobs and their dreams due to stay-at-home orders. But then again, many were probably saved by it. There’s no right answer, I don’t think.  Also, the hypocrisy that was displayed throughout the year- “Stay Home!” Unless you’re protesting or going to a presidential rally or celebration.  So many mixed messages.  And just to set the record straight, I am not affiliated with either political parties. I just like parties in general.  As long as I’m in bed by 11.

It’s a strange, messed-up era we are living in with too many people convinced that they are right, and too quick to judge others who don’t believe exactly how they do.  It was very depressing to see so many people be hateful to each other because of differing opinions.  And I feel sorry for anyone named Karen.  Their name got totally hijacked this year. (But let’s be real, that part WAS kind of funny)

But aside from the hot mess that was 2020, there WAS a lot of good things that happened. I think we all did get stronger, and more resilient (I think being an Army wife for almost 14 years helped me with that one. We never know what the heck is going to happen.) Seeing all the positive stories coming out of this year… the social distant parades, and the random acts of kindness… the sidewalk chalk art and the painted rocks with hopeful messages that were all over our neighborhoods… little things made me believe that we all aren’t all so bad. That behind the angry veneer, there is a shred of hope for humanity.

Ok, if I’m waxing poetic too much, it’s because my mom and Aunt just interrupted me to try to get me to take a shot of vodka with them.  I hate vodka. (Bad experience or 5 in college) So I settled for 1 and 1/2 glasses of Prosecco, and now here I am… a bubbly and stuff… I mean, it IS New Years Eve, after all. So it’s totally ok.

Ok, so my point is, and yes, I’m feeling that Prosecco (which my dad just informed me is basically Italian champagne, and I’m not sure why I didn’t know that) is that as we get into a new year, is to be kind. Don’t be a total dillweed. Not everyone is you or has had your life experiences. Nobody knows the right answers to all the mess that is happening in our world, and all we can really do is try and not make things worse.  And if anyone can invent a mask that doesn’t make me break out, that’d be cool, too.

Ok, I’m going to find more of that Italian Prosecco stuff.  I honestly thought Prosecco was lunch meat until this week.

Be nice, wear deodorant, mow your lawn, and pay your taxes.

That’s all I ask.

Cheers and I wish a much better 2021 for everyone.

The Best Christmas Songs EVER!

Tis’ the season for holiday music!

Oddly enough, I couldn’t stand Christmas music growing up. Not sure why, but thankfully I’m growing out of that, and getting my Christmas cheer on.  Here are my picks for the BEST Christmas songs of all time.

“All I Want for Christmas is You” by Mariah Carey

Overplayed? Sure. But that’s because it’s glorious. I don’t care what kind of mood I’m in, as soon as this comes on the radio, I’m in full-on car performance mode.  If you hate this song, it’s because you hate life. That’s all there is to it.

“Hallelujah” by Pentatonix

This song is a classic, and noone does it like Leonard Cohen, I get that.

But daaannnnng, Pentatonix’s version gives me hella chills every time I hear it.  The sheer vocal talent of this group is incredible.

“The Christmas Song” by Nat King Cole

You can’t beat Nat King Cole, especially when it comes to holiday classics. Nat knows what’s up.

“Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” by Frank Sinatra

Like Nat King Cole, Ol’ Blue Eyes can do no wrong when it comes to holiday songs.

Still trying to wrap my mind around Scott Stapp of Creed playing him in an upcoming Ronald Reagan biopic. But that’s a rant for another day.

“Christmas Tree Farm” by Taylor Swift

I’m a Swiftie, and I’m not ashamed.

This is a great original Christmas tune, and I don’t care what you say about Tay Tay, woman can write a dang song!

“Christmas Eve and Other Stories” by Trans-Siberian Orchestra

I can’t pick just one song, so here’s the full album.  Just absolutely incredible musicianship, and a great marriage of rock and holiday classics.

“Underneath the Tree” by Kelly Clarkson

Such a fun, happy Christmas song, and Kelly’s vocals are just killer.  Another one that prompts a very terrible car concert by your truly.

“Hallelujah” by Carrie Underwood and John Legend

This one just came out this year on Carrie’s first full-length Christmas album “My Gift”

Two fantastic artists on a gorgeous song.  Wowza!

“Carol of the Bells” by Lindsey Sterling

Lindsey Sterling is crazy talented, and I love this take on the classic “Carol of the Bells”

I wish I could play an instrument, or dance, or anything cool like that. Oh well. At least I can live vicariously through her.

That’s my list of the best Christmas songs.

What’s your favorite holiday tune? Am I missing anything?

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all!!!!

The BEST Songs Of 2020

2020 was a stupid year.  I think that is one of the things we can ALL agree on.  However, the silver lining was that there was some pretty great new music that was released.

Here’s my picks for the best songs of 2020:

And no, WAP is NOT on the list. Don’t even get me started on that…

Miranda Lambert “Bluebird”

Miranda Lambert is just the coolest. And one HELL of a songwriter. The fact that this song is her first #1 in YEARS is bullcrap, especially considering what has been topping the Country charts the past few years. I honestly can’t even begin to explain that.

This song is beautifully written, and has some great lines in it. It’s the perfect song for 2020. Keep that light on in your soul, and that bluebird in your heart, people!

The Weekend “Blinding Lights”

The Weeknd is incredibly talented, and has some perfectly executed pop songs that are also radio friendly.  Why he’s not nominated for a Grammy this year is a musical travesty.  This song has been in constant rotation in my mental playlist this year, and make me wish I actually knew how to dance.

Mammoth WVH “Distance”

Eddie Van Halen’s son Wolfgang made a beautiful tribute to his late father with this song, and it immediately topped the Rock charts, as it should.

I tear up every time I hear it, and this video is a gut wrencher.

Greta Van Fleet “My Way Soon”

The latest release from Greta Van Fleet- some people say they are too much like Led Zeppelin. I say that’s NOT a bad thing.  Actually, this song gives more Rush vibes, especially on the vocals.

Again, NOT a bad thing.  Glad to have these kiddos representing modern rock.

Evanescence “Wasted On You”

I’m so glad this band is back.  And if I could have the voice of anyone, it would be Amy Lee. Just pure vocal perfection.

Megan Thee Stallion and Beyonce “Savage”

You can’t go wrong with a Beyonce collab.  This one stands out for me for being catchy, and for having a viral tik tok dance that I cannot master.

Also, I wonder if Megan knows that a Stallion is a male horse?  It should be Megan Thee Mare. But whatever.

The Pretty Reckless “Death By Rock and Roll”

I’m so glad this band is back on the scene this year. Taylor Momsen can freaking rock (not bad for a chick that was once on “Gossip Girl”) and this is just a fun, in your face rock song that we need more of. We just need more women in rock period.

Dua Lipa “Break My Heart”

I’m going to be honest, it took me a while to get down with Dua Lipa, but she has definitely proven her pop prowress to me this year! I’m a sucker for a good bass line, and this song is giving off strong Queen vibes, and is catchy as hell. I jam out to it every time it’s on the radio, which is about 67 times a day. I’m cool with that.

Parker McCollum “Like a Cowboy”

Parker is definitely the hot new thing on the Country Music scenes, and with songs like this, he damn well should be. Less pop country, and more of this in 2021, please.

Miley Cyrus “Midnight Sun”

Miley has gone rock, and I am LOVING it! I feel like she’s finally found her true sound with her new album “Plastic Hearts” and the first single is a standout. From it’s echoing of Stevie Nicks’ “Edge of Seventeen” to it’s 80’s pop sound, I am ALL for it.

Those are my top picks for 2020.  What was a standout song for you?

Anything you think I should know about?
