“American Idol” Contestant Bryson Quick Puts a Country Spin on Pink Floyd’s “Time”

Ok, I admit it.

I’ve kind of, sort of started watching “American Idol” again.

My husband and I watched it religiously for years, then kind of got bored with it, so we moved on.

Well, now my three-year-old son is obsessed, and so we keep it on, as he gets super excited anytime someone sings.

This performance got my attention last night… a high school student named Bryson Quick auditioned with a really cool Country take on Pink Floyd’s classic “Time”:

Pretty damn cool…

As a Country and Classic Rock fan, I can definitely appreciate that.

And yes, “American Idol” is staged as hell… but there is some great talent that comes from the show, and I’m really loving Carrie Underwood as a judge this year.

Catch Season 7,467 (or whatever we’re on now) on Sunday and Monday nights on ABC.

Guess I’ll drink the Kool-Aid for my kid’s sake!

Miranda Lambert “I Don’t Love Here”

20 years ago today, Miranda Lambert released her breakthrough Country album “Kerosene”, and it launched her into Country music stardom.

Yeah. 20 years ago. 2005.

The math is mathing and it kind of stings, right?

To celebrate the anniversary, Miranda released a deluxe version of “Kerosene” on vinyl, and reached into the vault to release a song from 20 years ago that didn’t make it on the album (but should have) called “I Don’t Love Here”.

Of course, it’s really good:

Awwww… I love baby Miranda’s voice!

Honestly, that song could still be a hit.

20 years later, Miranda is still – and always will be- a Country music staple.

She’s on the road pretty much all year with everyone from Ella Langley to Morgan Wallen, and you can find dates and info at http://Mirandalambert.com

Chappell Roan Goes Country With “The Giver”!

Unless you’ve been living solely on another planet, you’ve heard about the incredibly talented Chappell Roan.

You know… the creative mind and killer voice behind Pop hits like “Good Luck Babe”, “Hot to Go”, and “Pink Pony Club”, and, of course, the winner of the coveted Grammy for “Best New Artist” this year.

She’s kind of a badass.

Well, the dropped her “Country” song today, and even as a 100,000 %  straight woman, I can appreciate it.

Check out “The Giver”:

Catchy, right?

Basically, she’s saying she can do it better than any man can.

I don’t doubt it.

And, Country traditionalists… don’t lose your mind. She only released a Country song for fun. She grew up in rural Missouri, and is pretty well-versed in the Country lifestyle. So, yeah, she gets a hall pass.

She has confirmed this week that she is staying in Pop music, but she wanted to drop a Country song because she loves the genre, and it’s what she grew up on.

Fair enough.

The woman can sing and perform her ass off, and is really a breath of fresh air on the Pop scene.

Oh, and she gets the job DONNNNNNEEEEE.

What more do you want?

Jelly Roll “Zevia” Commercial

Jelly Roll is everywhere these days.

Jelly is now the new “spokesmodel” for Zevia- a zero-sugar soda- and it’s pretty damn funny:

Seem familiar?

The ad is a direct take on the 1992 Pepsi ad starring Cindy Crawford:

Jeepers. They don’t make ’em like they did in the 90’s anymore, do they?

I remember LOVING that commercial as a kid, and wanting to BE Cindy.

What 90’s kid didn’t?

Anyhow, Kudos to Jelly Roll for the nostalgia today, and for giving me a good laugh.

Dolly Parton “If You Hadn’t Been There”

Well, I just ugly cried all over the place.

Earlier this week, Dolly Parton’s husband of almost sixty years- Carl Dean- passed away at the age of 82.

What a love they shared… and she honored him by releasing a song to tribute him called “If You Hadn’t Been There”, and released the following statement:

“I fell in love with Carl Dean when I was 18 years old. We have spent 60 precious and meaningful years together. Like all great love stories, they never end. They live on in memory and song. He will always be the star of my life story, and I dedicate this song to him.”

Oh, my heart.

Here’s “If You Hadn’t Been There”:

Absolutely beautiful.

And what a gorgeous tribute to an everlasting love.

I have been lucky to have been married almost eighteen years thus far, and can only hope to achieve that same longevity.

#lovegoals

Rest Easy, Carl.

Thank you for sharing your wife with the world.

Morgan Wallen Teases New Music “I’m a Little Crazy”

Morgan Wallen is such a damn tease…

He’s got a new album coming out this year called “I’m The Problem”, and although he hasn’t officially set the release date or track list yet, he’s not been shy about posting teasers of what will be on the album.

Earlier today, he shared a clip of “I’m a Little Crazy”, and I have a feeling most of his audience will relate:

Another solid Country song incoming…

And it goes well with the state of the world these days.

My husband is Active Duty Army, and has been for the past 18 years. He says the “boogeyman” is real.  Sadly, our world is insane, and you have to do what you can do to get through it.

For a lot of us, that’s music.

And from the sound of it, Morgan seems to have some pretty solid stuff in the pipeline for us.

Stay tuned!

Also, he’s hitting the road in 2025 with Miranda Lambert, and you know that’s gonna be amazing.

Morgan Wallen Previews New Song About His Son

Well, dang.

Another future hit from Morgan Wallen has arrived…

Morgan Wallen has a new album called “I’m the Problem” which we’re still waiting on the release date and track listing. In the meantime, Morgan is sporadically putting out songs from the upcoming project, and he has his first song on there about being a dad to his song Indigo.

He wrote on his socials, “Been trying for a long time to write a song I loved to my son. None of them ever feel good enough because of how perfect I want something like this to be. And not saying this is perfect, but I am very proud of it. Here is a clip; It’s called ‘Superman.’”

Enjoy:

Yeah, I’d say he hit that one out of the park. I especially love the references to the hot mess that Morgan can sometimes be. But, hey, at least he owns up to it!

I seriously cannot wait to hear this album.

Morgan will also be on the road with Miranda Lambert this year, which is going to be all kinds of amazing. Get dates and info at  http://morganwallen.com

Sabrina Carpenter and Dolly Parton “Please, Please, Please”

Earlier this morning, Sabrina Carpenter dropped the deluxe version of her Grammy Award winning album “Short n’ Sweet”, and it features a remake of her hit song “Please, Please, Please” with none other than the ICONIC Dolly Parton on it!

And of course, it’s stinking adorable.

Aaaahhh! LOVE it!

And I love the reference to Sabrina’s ex- actor Barry Keoghan- at the end.

Perfect.

And in case you missed it, here’s Sabrina’s full 2025 Grammy Award performance. It finally got released to YouTube:

I freaking love her.

Again, her deluxe version of “Short n’ Sweet” is out now, and I highly suggest you check her out if you’re not up on how awesome she is!

Riley Green “Worst Way” Music Video

Is it hot in here?

Could be my hot flashes… or maybe it’s just this music video for Country star Riley Green’s new single “Worst Way”.

All I can say is… DAMN.

Yeah, Riley Green doesn’t work out or anything.

Also, is anyone getting major Spencer Dutton vibes from him? (Hello, “1923”!)

Either way, Riley is easily the sexiest man in Country Music right now.

Fight me.

You can also catch him on the road this year- get the dates at http://Rileygreen.com
Really, my only complaint about this video is that he tossed the wine before showing up.

Bad call.

Trey Lewis Interview

Viral Country Star Trey Lewis joined me on the show today, and I really enjoyed our chat.

In case you’re not aware, Trey Lewis is the artist behind the viral hit “Dicked Down in Dallas”… if you’ve not heard it, behold:

Oh, and it’s VERY NSFW.

Ok, it’s catchy. You know it is.

Messed up, but catchy. Hence why it became a mega-viral hit.

Anyhow, Trey will be at The Whiskey Baron in Colorado Springs Friday night, and he joined me today to talk about his show, and his inspiring story.

Take a listen:

Isn’t he awesome? Such an inspiring story, and great advice for anyone going through addiction.
