Elle King Drunk Performs Drunk at Dolly Parton Tribute at The Ryman

You may remember that Elle King made headlines a few weeks ago with her drunk performance on New Year’s Eve on Nashville’s Big Bash. It was on live TV, and personally, I didn’t see the problem. It was NYE, Elle is known for being a party girl, and she still had a solid (if no a bit slurred) performance.

No harm, no foul, right? I’ve seen waaaaay worse.

Welllll… Elle King is raising eyebrows again for another drunken performance. This time, this past Friday night at the Ryman for the Dolly Parton Tribute in honor of the legend’s 78th birthday. She was obviously lit UP (hey, she admitted it) and her introduction had a lot of people ticked off, and some say it was disrespectful to Dolly.

Here it is on TikTok:

Welp.

Yeah, that was a bit much.

This performance was pretty bad, as well:

Her performance of “Jolene” that found I found wasn’t awful, though…

Look, I have nothing against drinking. I love my wine, but I have also learned in my older years about a thing called moderation. Now in my early twenties, when I was young, dumb, and had no real big responsibilities, sure, I overdid it, and even had my share of drunken nights on stage with cover bands. But nothing near the level that Elle is performing at. She is one heck of a talent, and I really do like her, and enjoy her music.

I hope she slows her roll a bit…

If nothing else, because taking care of a toddler with a hangover can’t be fun. Her son is about the same age as mine, and I can’t even imagine!

Then again, isn’t a double standard? Some of Country’s greats were complete hot messes- Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, Willie, Waylon, the list goes on and on… and they were WAYYYY worse than the shennanigans Elle has been up to these past few weeks.

Except they’re men, and they can get away with it.

What do you think?

Does Elle need to slow it down a bit?

Or should she be able to have her fun as long as she’s not hurting anyone?

Elle King’s Drunken NYE Performance

First off, Happy New Year!

I’m betting Elle King is feeling it this morning.

Elle King was one of the performers at the “New Year’s Eve Live: Nashville’s Big Bash” on CBS last night, as well as one of the hosts, and she’s already trending in 2024 due to her performance of “Drunk and I Don’t Wanna Go Home”.

I mean, it’s life imitating art.

Ok, I do love Elle King as an artist, and she seems super fun.  The internet is giving her all kinds of hell this morning, but I’m on #teamelle.

It was New Year’s Eve, and she had to much to drink.

Was it the most professional performance? Nah. But did she fall off the stage?  Soil herself? Drop F- bombs?

Maybe I’m just sympathetic as I’ve had my share of drunken performances in cover bands in my early twenties. Of course, those were at little bars in the Memphis area, and not on a national televised stage, but still… it happens.

At least she remembered the lyrics and song structure.

Also, this song is originally a duet with Miranda Lambert, so maybe that’s also part of the problem. It needs Miranda on it to make it really pop.

Either way, I don’t see the big issue, as long as she doesn’t make a habit of drunken performances.

It was New Year’s Eve, she was singing a drinking song… let it go.

Also, her outfit is badass.

Cheers to 2024, and try not being a hater, ok?

Lainey Wilson, Elle King and Tanya Tanya Tucker “Texas (When I Die)”

CMA Fest 2023 took place last month in Nashville- have you ever been? Omg. It’s a Country fan’s dream. So many incredible performances from the best in the industry, and the highlights always air later in the Summer on ABC.  Well, they had their CMA Fest Special last night hosted by Dierks Bentley, Lainey Wilson and Elle King, and one of my favorite performances involves two of the hosts, and the “Mother Trucker” herself Tanya Tucker on one of her classics “Texas (When I Die)”

Tanya still has it!!!

And damn, Lainey and Elle do, too.  This new generation of women in Country is straight fire.

Keep on breaking up the sausage party that is Country music!!!

Elle King “Tulsa”

Elle King has gone Country, and I’m thinking it’s going to work out just fine…

If you recall, she burst onto the scene in the Mid-2010’s with “Exes and Ohs” (GREAT SONG) and has since had several chart-topping Country collabs with Miranda Lambert and Dierks Bentley. So, the obvious next move is to go full on Country, right?

Here’s her new single “Tulsa” and it’s not what you think it would be.

Yep, you can definitely tell she’s been hanging with Miranda.

And seriously, what woman hasn’t been in a Tulsa situation?

I can’t wait for Elle’s album “Come Get Your Wife”- love the title!- and it will be available on January 27th.

Fun Fact: Elle is actor Rob Schneider’s daughter!
