First off, Happy New Year!
I’m betting Elle King is feeling it this morning.
Elle King was one of the performers at the “New Year’s Eve Live: Nashville’s Big Bash” on CBS last night, as well as one of the hosts, and she’s already trending in 2024 due to her performance of “Drunk and I Don’t Wanna Go Home”.
I mean, it’s life imitating art.
Ok, I do love Elle King as an artist, and she seems super fun. The internet is giving her all kinds of hell this morning, but I’m on #teamelle.
It was New Year’s Eve, and she had to much to drink.
Was it the most professional performance? Nah. But did she fall off the stage? Soil herself? Drop F- bombs?
Maybe I’m just sympathetic as I’ve had my share of drunken performances in cover bands in my early twenties. Of course, those were at little bars in the Memphis area, and not on a national televised stage, but still… it happens.
At least she remembered the lyrics and song structure.
Also, this song is originally a duet with Miranda Lambert, so maybe that’s also part of the problem. It needs Miranda on it to make it really pop.
Either way, I don’t see the big issue, as long as she doesn’t make a habit of drunken performances.
It was New Year’s Eve, she was singing a drinking song… let it go.
Also, her outfit is badass.
Cheers to 2024, and try not being a hater, ok?
Considering it’s Nashville I’m surprised they let her perform drunk….
not so bad…..looks like shes had some facial surgery/work done….or maybe its just the hair??
I think she was awesome. We all have been there. Don’t Judge unless you are perfect and no one I know is perfect but our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He is the one to judge not us.
So leave her alone it’s New Years night!!!!!
Leave her alone!!!!
#teamelle
I was rather embarrassed for her. Not a smart move.
She was having fun. I watched the whole thing. She enjoyed herself. Give her a break.
I feel sure she was not the only performer drinking or drunk I watched and saw nothing wrong with performance. People always have to find something wrong it is sad. Worry about yourself
I saw nothing wrong with her performance. Was it her best performance? Probably not, but embarrassing? I’ve seen a lot of concerts and seen people perform hell of a lot worse than that. One performer was so wasted that he left the stage and never came back.
I think Elle did an awesome job last night!! Quit being a bunch negative bellies, it was. NYE party. #tesmelle

All I could think the whole night watching her was….I wanna be Elle King when I grow up!! She was having the time if her life on NEW YEAR’S EVE for crying out loud! Let it go people! She even said she sings what she lives before the song! She knew she was drunk and wasn’t afraid to admit it! #teamElle
Good stuff
George Jones would be proud!???? Go Elle!
She was wonderful!!! Cute as a button and live her voice. She’s great!!!!
Truly I wish Elle was singing like she use to. Sure the look is to some is so much better. But I miss who she was And her music. She can sing and she can strum that bango Seems like she didn’t have to prove her self to anyone, but now whoa, everyone is tearing her apart in every part of her. I have seen her shows a few times and she was so much better in the beginning just being Elle King. I will always love her Shake the Spirit and I told you I was mean album. But the pressure in the industry, man she must have to let a lot of it go. Keep on being YOU Elle. Because of my own experience with drinking all I can say is be careful, being a female it can hurt you more than a man. Our hormones don’t let us get over the hangover like males do. And it can happen pretty quick getting caught up in the drinking and it becoming a real problem for you.
Love her! #teamelle
Elle King sharing some fun…Her audience all seemed to be enjoying themselves. Lighten up everyone.
Outstanding!!!
Every year it became a tradition for Don Lemon (CNN) to get drunk, say inappropriate things and act a fool. She did fine, its a New Years Eve party. That what its all about … enjoying yourself and welcoming the new year in celebration.
I 100% agree with you and I’m even an “older” lady sitting on the sofa watching the show as my way to celebrate ringing in the new year! Oh, and at least you could tell she was NOT lip-syncing! Yup, I am TeamElle also!
I have seen way worse performances by sober people so I was thinking she did great. Great job.
She was just having fun….she was drunk and didn’t want to go home!! Who could blame her??!! Lighten up! I’m sure she could have done worse.
I say the same thing, let it go. I saw nothing wrong with her performance. Didn’t even know she was drunk.
I saw her in July 2023 and she was either drunk or high as a kite (I think the latter). The show was not terrible but I performed as if she did not want to be there. As a result, I am not sure I would spend the money again to see her (and I usually go to see artist multiple times).
Elle was the only reason I watched the program rather than the Dick Clark’s New Years show!
All I can say is there’s a time and a place for everything. And being at work, yes work as she was paid, that’s not the place to be drunk. Setting a bad example. Drink your butt off all you want when your job is done, don’t be the one to set the don’t do this example.
Not the first time she has performed drunk. Not a good message to send out to the fans.
Looks like a good time!
As a musician who has been on stage more than once after having one or two too many I am really impressed with her. She didn’t stumble, she stayed in key and time. Better than someone who just lip syncs.
I totally agree! And yes, I’ve been drunk onstage before. It’s a thing. She handled it.
