Shania Twain Announces New Album and Tour for 2023!

 

Shania Twain has always been one of my role models.

The first time I heard her song “Any Man of Mine” on 107.7 in Henderson, TN, I was 12 years old. I remember hearing the song on the radio and thinking “Yessss!!!!” I loved the beat and the sass and the fact that it was such a departure from what was typically “Country” at the time, yet still had the twang. Yes, I cared about those things even then.

Then I saw the music video at a friend’s house (we didn’t have cable at mine) and it was pretty much life changing.  Here was this stunning woman sashaying around a barn with her horses- being sexy and badass at the same time.  Growing up on a farm and being a “horse girl”, I thought that you couldn’t be both a farm girl and sexy, but seeing Shania do her thing on CMT showed 12 year-old me that it totally COULD happen.  You can be a country girl, have some sass and fire, and totally kick ass. She proved that to me, and it was a pretty major moment in my young life, realizing that you can be all the things.

Fast forward through a couple of decades of Shania being a badass…

and she’s BACK!

Her new album is called “Queen of Me” (LOVE the title and the cover art!) and she has a tour to follow. Yeah, it’s only a few dates, but if there was ever an artist worth a road trip for it’s her!

Morgan Wallen “Tennessee Fan”

I case you were under a rock these past few days, TENNESSEE BEAT ALABAMA.

It’s kind of a big deal.

Even though I gew up in West Tennessee, I’ve never fully commited to Vols superfandom- but I can appreciate them, and always cheer for them when they’re playing.  So, even I was excited that Tennessee beat Alabama this past Saturday night.

It’s been a long damn time coming.

And Morgan Wallen – who like many Country stars are huge Vols fans- just honored the moment with a snippet of a song called “Tennessee Fan”.

Well, that’s kind of perfect, right?

Hopefully he’ll release the full song SOON!!!

What a great way to memorialize a pretty freaking huge moment in Tennessee sports.

Wayyyyy better than tearing down a goal post if you ask me.

Kylie Morgan “If He Wanted to He Would”

 

Ok, I am loving the new single from Kylie Morgan “If He Wanted to He Would”.

It’s just a total truth bomb.  No woman (or man!) wants to hear it, but it’s true.  If someone is really into you, they’ll call. They’ll take you to meet your family and introduce you to their friends.

There’s really no good excuse, but man, we are good at making them aren’t we?

Hey, my late teens and early twenties, I was that girl, making excuses for loser guys who honestly were not worth my time. (But you couldn’t tell me that. )

Look, he’s really not that busy.

He’s just not that into you.  Find someone who is, and actually give them a chance.

You’d be suprised.

Anyhow, I’m off my relationship advice sopabox, and I really love this song and artist.

Queen “Face It Alone”

I’ve been waiting for this for awhile… and it’s here!

Brian May (iconic guitarist of Queen for those not well-informed on such matters) announced earlier this year that Queen would be putting out a new album with the late Freddie Mercury’s vocals.  Engineers spliced some stuff from recording sessions in the late 80’s to make it happen, and you know what? It’s pretty flipping spectcular.

Freddies vocals still give me the chills, and Brian May’s guitar solo is on fire, as per usual.

Can you totally see this song on a movie soundtrack? Like a Bond movie or something. That’s the vibe I’m getting.

Any more recordings that can be spliced together, guys? I may need more of this.

Mackenzie Carpenter “Hunting Season”

My husband is an avid hunter. When I say avid, I mean completely, unabashadly obsessed.

I can’t tell you how many times I get asked if I’m pissed that he spends so much time in the woods chasing turkey and deer… and you know what? BMLG artist Mackenzie Carpenter hit the nail on the head on how I feel with this song.

Look, my husband is amazing and I love being with him. But I also love my alone time (well, as much alone time as one can have with an almost 1 year old) and doing my own thing. I always have, which is why I’ve been able to easily handle the Army Wife Life for the past 15 years.

I don’t know why people think that in a relationship you have to spend all of your time together.

Why?

That’s kind of ridiculous, don’t you think?

Honestly, I’d rather have my husband chasing Buck Racks than the other kind of rack, you know what I’m saying?

Anyway, shout out to Mackenzie for a fresh take in this song! I can’t wait to hear more from her.

Boomtown Saints “All Trucks Go to Heaven”

Aaaaaahhhh! I am SO excited for these guys!!!!!

Boomtown Saints- Chris Ramos and Ben Chism- are the nicest ever, and their new single “All Trucks Go to Heaven” is taking off in Nashville. As it SHOULD!!! It’s perfect.

I’m so proud of these guys.

I am so, so happy for Ben and Chris, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for them.
