Darryl Worley “Have We Forgotten”

If you’re a Country fan, you probably remember Daryl Worley’s hit song “Have You Forgotten”, which talked about how quickly many of us seemed to have moved on from the terrorist attacks of 2003.

Fast forward 20 years later, our beloved America is basically a hot mess express right now. And who is to blame? Basically all of us.  It absolutely sickens me to see what has happened to our country, and our people. We are so ridiculously divided now, and noone wants to stop and listen to the other side. We don’t need China or Russia to destroy us. We’re doing a pretty damn good job of it ourselves.  Yet, we’re too busy finger pointing and worrying about offensive beer cans to even see what we stand to lose if we don’t change.

Darryl Worley just dropped an updated version of his original hit, and it basically echoes that sentiment.

Well done, Darryl!

What we seem to forget is how lucky we are to be free.  Ever wonder why we have so many immigrants and migrants?  Because of all the freedoms and opportunities that we take for granted every day.  Is our Country perfect? Hell no.  But social change takes time, and you know what? Everyone acting a fool on BOTH sides hinders us more than anything.

Stop for a minute. Look around. Be grateful for what we have and be kind to others, even if they don’t agree with you politically.

It’s not complicated.

I myself have had people tell me I should use my “platform” to be more political, but I just personally can’t.  We have enough poison out there, and I don’t want to add to it.  Plus, I have a really hard time choosing a side. I really can’t say that I’m a Democrat or a Republican. Just somewhere in between, wondering what the hell happened to our country…

We are destroying something amazing. Something that my husband and so many other great Americans have fought and died for. Remember that this Independence Day.  Let’s all do better, OK? Our country deserves it!

‘Merica!

Fall Out Boy Updated Version of “We Didn’t Start the Fire”

It’s been being said for years that someone needs to do a modern-day version of Billy Joel’s “We Didn’t Start the Fire”, and finally Fall Out Boy stepped up to the plate and took a pretty solid swing at it!

Let’s be real, 2020 alone deserves it’s own song, but FOB did a pretty solid job on covering hot topics from the past few decades.

Pretty freaking cool…

I mean, there’s no way everything that happened could be mentioned in just a few minutes, and obviously it’s NOT chronological, but still, it was fun to listen to.

Any guessed what a version 40 years from now would mention? Kind of scary to think about, right?

Elvis Singing “Baby Got Back”

AI (Artificial Intelligence) is awesome and terrifying at the same time.

One of the awesome parts is things like this: An Elvis version of “Baby Got Back”.

Simply Glorious.

I’m not sure why I laughed so hard at this, but I’m sure it speaks to my complete lack of maturity.

If AI can just be used for things like this, and not take my job, we can be friends.

Kiss/Earth Wind & Fire Mash-Up

I, like many, love a good mash-up.

This one may be in my Top 10 right now.

Kiss’s “I Was Made for Loving You” and Earth, Wind, & Fire’s “Boogie Wonderland”?

I mean, come on. Does it get any better than this?

Short answer: No.

Don’t lie. You were jamming like crazy to that, and it’s totally ok.

You’re welcome.

Happy Sunday!

Big S/O to Bill McClintock on YouTube for posting this!!!

Aaron Watson Feat. Jenna Paulette “7 Year Ache”

Being a Country fan, I got kind of excited when I heard that Aaron Watson (love him!) was doing a version of Roseanne Cash’s 1981 hit “7 Year Ache” as a duet with Jenna Paulette. And you know what? It works.

I’m a big fan of the Texas/Red Dirt Country, and songs like above are why.

Want more Aaron? (seriously one of the NICEST humans, btw) check out his site and tour dates here.

Lakelin Lemmings “Baby Daddy”

In honor of Father’s Day, I wanted to share a new song from a girl from my hometown of Henderson, TN.  Her name is Lakelin Lemmings (remember her name! Pretty sure you’ll be hearing more of it!), she’s 17 years old, and she’s a singer/songwriter who has been performing since the age of 6!

Here’s her new single that she wrote with Ash Bowers (also from the area I grew up in!) and Rose Falcon (Rodney Atkins wife!)- it’s called “Baby Daddy” and I thought it was definitely worth a share!

How sweet is that?  And what a talent, too.

She also went viral this week on tiktok when she showed her dad her new song for the first time!

I can’t wait to see what the future brings for Lakelin!

Chester County Proud!

Dolly Parton Feat. Ann Wilson “Magic Man” (Carl’s Version)

As you’re probably aware of by now, Dolly Parton is releasing a rock covers album called “Rockstar” this Fall, and it features a ton of collabs with rock legends.

She just released a killer version of “Magic Man” with Ann Wilson of Heart, with a twist, and it is absolutely fantastic.

Jeeepers. Dolly’s voice still sounds incredible. And, of course, so does Ann’s.

Oh, and Ann and Nancy Wilson of Heart are working together again, which makes my 80’s heart happy.  So stay tuned for more on that!

Dolly also released an original song with Rob Halford of Judas Priest called “Bygones” – again, I can’t get enough of these!

Also, Nikki Sixx and John 5 are on the track as well. HELL YES!!!

Dolly’s “Rockstar” album comes out November 17th, and features 21 covers, and 9 originals.

I. Can’t. Wait.

Carly Pearce Feat. Chris Stapleton “We Don’t Fight Anymore”

Everyone is collabing with everyone in Nashville, and I am NOT mad at it.

I was looking forward to this combo since I heard it was happening.

Carly Pearce AND Chris Stapleton?

Bring it.

The song is called “We Don’t Fight Anymore” and it’s sad, emotional, and perfectly embodies the quiet demise of a relationship.

I once heard that the opposite of love isn’t hate, it’s indifference.

I couldn’t agree more.

Well done. Carly Pearce and Chris Stapleton!

Buckle up for more collabs this year in Country Music. I’m here for it!

Miranda Lambert and Avril Lavigne Perform at CMA Fest!

Have I mentioned how much I LOVE Miranda Lambert? Just a little bit?

Avril Lavigne was also my jam when I was in college, and going through a semi-angsty phase. Not really, but I wanted to be, so Avril was definitely on my 2003 playlist. Damnnn… that was 20 years ago?

Sheesh.

Anyhow, both icons joined forces at CMA Fest in Nashville over the weekend and did a hella performance of Miranda’s “Kerosene” and Avril’s “Sk8er Boi”:

I was hoping to find a higher quality video today, but this is what I got.  But still, you don’t need pro video to hear how awesome these two are!

The CMA Fest Highlights will be airing July 19th on ABC.

Hopefully, this perfomance will make the cut! (I mean, it has to, right???)
