Zach Bryan Feat. Kacey Musgraves “I Remember Everything”

Zach Bryan just released his long-awaited self-titled album yesterday, and this collab with the always-incredible Kacey Musgraves is on it called “I Remember Everything” and I’m just over here like, “Woah”.

Gotta love a good tortured Country love song, right?

Zach and Kacey knocked it out of the park as far as I’m concerned.

Can we have more of this in Country Music?

You know, like actual real Country?

I have to say, I’m liking where things are headed with artists like this…

Miley Cyrus “Used to Be Young”

Miley Cyrus is on FIRE!

She kicked off the year with killer album and a smash single “Flowers” which you can’t get away from, and now she released another sure hit “Used to Be Young”.

Anyone whoever lived it up a little (or a lot!) in the past can relate.

So good, right?

Lyrically on point, catchy, emotional, and totally Miley.  It’s something she lived through (we ALL remember) and she came out better, and has no regrets. And she got one hell of a song out of it.

The song resonates with me big time, as I had a party bone in my early twenties, and people still bring up those crazy times. To be fair, I never partied to Miley’s level, but I did enjoy Jager and Jack shots and making bad decisions and waking up thinking “shiiit, who do I need to apologize to” way too often.  Looking back, I wasn’t perfect, but I was young and silly and thankfully grew out of it pretty quickly. Do I have any major regrets? Nah. But I do have some “cringe” moments, as most people do.

Which is why I think this song is so awesome. Most of have been there, and have stories to tell.

Thank God social media wasn’t a thing in my early twenties.

Also, Miley is turning into one hell of an artist, and I’m proud as heck of her.

Also, I’m still fun… if you count a glass of wine and in bed before 10 fun.

Are These The Best Movie Soundtracks of All Time?

I just saw that Uproxx.com made a list of the Top 50 Movie Soundtracks of all time.

Kind of a tall order to rank them, don’t you think?

Here’s their Top 10:

1.  “Purple Rain”,  1984

2.  “Saturday Night Fever”,  1977

3.  “Pulp Fiction”,  1994

4.  “Singles”,  1992

5.  “Super Fly”,  1972

6.  “Boogie Nights”,  1997

7.  “American Graffiti”,  1973

8.  “Dazed and Confused”,  1993

9.  “Trainspotting”,  1996

10.  “A Hard Day’s Night”,  1964

Now while I respect most peoples’ opinions on such polarizing subjects, I have to say that I’m pretty damn disappointed to not see “Forrest Gump”, “Almost Famous” and “Blow” on the list.

And even though the movie was kind of lamesauce, what about “City of Angels”? That was a pretty epic 90’s soundtrack and it gave us one of the most overplayed songs of the 20th Century (“Iris” by The Goo Goo Dolls).

Also, is “Purple Rain” really the best movie soundtrack ever? I mean, EVER?

I mean, “Purple Rain” itself is a glorious song, but the entire soundtrack?

So many questions…

What is YOUR favorite movie soundtrack?

What should have made the list, and got totally passed over for something less worthy?

Enlighten me!

Ashley McBryde “Maybe It Was Memphis”

You know I love me some 90’s Country, and one of my staples of the decade is Pam Tillis’s “Maybe it Was Memphis”. Of course, hailing from West Tennessee, and working radio in Memphis and meeting my husband there makes the song all the more special to me.  So, when I saw that one of my favorite Country artists Ashley McBryde covered it during “CMT’s Summer Sessions”, I had to give it a listen.

Holy Macaroni, it’s good.

I mean, HOT DAMN!

Just wanted to share that nugget with you in case you had missed it.

Also, Ashley’s new album “Devil I Know” comes out September 8th!

Dolly Parton Featuring Sir Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr “Let it Be”

As you’re probably aware of by now, Dolly Parton has a Rock album coming out this Fall called “Rock Star” featuring covers of Rock classics (with a TON of star-studded collabs) and some originals as well. The past few months, Dolly has been periodically dropping songs off the album to get us ready for the release, and her latest is a cover of the iconic “Let it Be” by The Beatles, and features non other than Sir Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr.

How’s THAT for star power?

Ahhh, chilllssss…

I seriously cannot wait for this album, which only Dolly could pull off!

November 17th can’t be here quickly enough!

Carly Pearce “Country Music Made Me Do It”

The women of Country Music are really killing it these days… and at the forefront of the movement is Carly Pearce. With her pure Country voice and sound, she has been a refreshing change on the radio these past few years, and her star keeps on rising.

She just released a new single “Country Music Made Me Do It”, and yep, another winner.

I’m so happy with the crop of women in Country music lately… Carly, Lainey Wilson, Ashley McBryde, Kelsea Ballerini, Priscilla Block, Hailey Whitters, and Miranda and Carrie, of course! It’s kind of reminding me of the 90’s when women had a huge presence on Country radio. I’m SO glad that is resurging again.

Carly is hitting the road this year on her “Country Music Made Me Do It” tour, and then joining up with Tim McGraw for his “Standing Room Only Tour” next year.

Cody Johnson “The Painter”

Ahhhh! I am SO excited for this!

Cody Johnson just released his new single “The Painter”- he’s been teasing it for a few weeks now, and it’s just as good as I had hoped it would be.

A perfect Country love song. Great lyrics, music, and just overall a total YES!

I can see this being a big wedding song this next year.

I’m so happy that we have artists like Cody Johnson doing big things in the industry. It was so needed.

Cody has a new DOUBLE (yay!) album called “Leather” out this Fall.

In case you didn’t realize, Cody is the real deal.

Here’s a clip of him getting hung up while Bull Riding a while back.

Yep. CoJo is pretty damn legit.  I’m so glad he’s killing it on the Country Music scene. We need him.

Kelly Clarkson Covering Lainey Wilson’s “Heart Like a Truck”

Kelly Clarkson is currently doing her “Chemistry” Las Vegas Residency, and she’s popping a few suprises into every show, like her recent cover of Lainey Wilson’s “Heart Like a Truck”.

Of course, she nailed it and then some.

Here’s another view:

Dammmnnn, girl.

Ok, can we get a Lainey/Kelly Collab now?

Honestly, though, Kelly is one of the best damn vocalists of our generation.

I don’t think anyone can argue that!

Carrie Underwood ROCKS!

There really is no end to Carrie Underwood’s talents.

She got to open up for Guns N’ Roses over the weekend in Canada over the past weekend, and naturally, she added some Rock covers into her setlist and she pretty much killed it on everything from Motorhead to Led Zeppelin.

Check it out!

Motorhead: “Ace of Spades”

Led Zeppelin “Rock and Roll”

Joan Jett “Bad Reputation”

Pat Benetar “Hit Me With Your Best Shot”

Rolling Stones “Wild Horses”

Not too shabby, right?

It’s just fun to see this side of Carrie- who usually gives major Country Barbie Vibes- and see her let loose and get her rock on.  She can totally handle it vocally and performance wise.

As a Rock and Country fan, color me impressed!

Honestly, I prefer this side of Carrie, as opposed to a lot of her Country music of late.

Can we get a Rock album next?

I’d so be down.

Or at least a Carrie/Axl collab on a song.

Come on, universe. Make it happen!

Lainey Wilson and Deana Carter “Watermelon Moonshine”

If you’re a Country music fan, you’re propbably well aware of the fact that Lainey Wilson has one of the biggest Country songs of the Summer with “Watermelon Moonshine”, which from the first time I heard it, I was like, “Strawberry Wine” much?

Clearly, I’m not the only one who noticed the similarities… Deana Carter herself (the artist behind the masterpeice that is “Strawberry Wine”) just covered Lainey on TikTok and Lainey stitched for a duet.

I don’t know why seeing this made my Country girl heart happy, but it totally did.

Can we get a collab in real life, pretty please?
