Jennifer Lopez just dropped a new single today, and you know what? It’s super fun.
I honestly haven’t been a fan of her music lately, but her new song is catchy and fun, and the video is great!
It kind of pokes fun at her multiple marriages and relationships, and I throuroughly enjoyed watching it.
Also, how the hell is she in her fifties? Good genes? Good doctors? Both?
Who cares. Woman is KILLING it, as always!
I think this may be the perfect restart to her music career. Just an all-around feel-good song.
Go JLo!
Side note: I used to work at the place that she married Ben Affleck at. The estate is located on Hampon Island in Riceboro, GA, where I used to work in the equestrian department in 2007-2009. I got to go to the house once, and even met Ben a few times.
I kid you not.
Super nice guy, and I’m happy for him and Jennifer.
In honor of the Billboard Hot 100 Chart’s 65th Anniversary, Billboard decided to make a comprehensive list of the Best 500 Pop Songs of All Time.
Basically, the true Pop songs that embody the genre, and stand the test of time.
Here’s the Top 10:
#10: The Beatles, “I Want to Hold Your Hand”
I mean, it’s The Beatles.
So, duh.
#9: TuPac and Dr. Dre, “California Love”
Ok, I do love this song. Top 10, though???? Maybe Top 50.
All I know is as soon as I hear the opening “California Lovvvvvveeee”, I go back to my wannabe bad teenage self.
#8: Carly Rae Jepsen, “Call Me Maybe”
If you say you don’t love this song, you’re lying. It’s pure, mindless Pop perfection.
#7: Michael Jackson, “Billie Jean”
It’s the bass line for me. Flipping glorious.
#6: Madonna, “Like a Prayer”
I LOVE Madonna. But Imma have to disagree with this one. While a good song, for sure, out of her entire catalogue, this is the one they put in the Top 10? Not “Vougue”? Not “Get Into the Groove”? Or even “Open Your Heart”?
Nope. I’m not down with this choice. Sorry, Billboard.
#5: Kelly Clarkson, “Since U Been Gone”
This song was THE anthem in the Mid-2000’s. So, yeah, totally get it.
#4: Backstreet Boys, “I Want it That Way”
Ok, first off, I was always #TeamNsync, so the Backstreet Boys were always second-tier in my teenage heart. Also, this is possibly their worst song and video. Does anyone even know what this song is about? Because the lyrics have always befuddled me. Also, “You Are My Fire, My One Desire” has to be the cheesiest opening line in Pop.
Seriously, N’Sync’s “Bye, Bye, Bye” should be in this spot.
I will fall on this sword.
#3: The Tempations, “My Girl”
I can’t argue this one. Total classic.
#2: ABBA, “Dancing Queen”
I mean, it’s a great Pop song, but #2? I think that’s stretching. Another Top 50 qualifier to me.
#1: Whitney Houston, “I Wanna Dance With Somebody”
Ok, I have to agree with this one!
80’s Pop was next level. And this song is still being played in heavy rotation and immediately makes people smile and badly attempt hitting high notes. Myself included.
It always makes me think of riding shotgun in my mother’s car as a kid, and singing with this song. My mother LOVED this song, and it always makes me think of her.
Maybe that is what makes a Pop song a classic. The way it puts you right back into a positive memory.
Ok, I’m realllly looking forward to the “Barbie” movie (anyone who knows me would be zero percent shocked by this admission) and the soundtrack is shaping up pretty splendidly as well.
Billie Eilish, who I would think would be the least likely to be involved in the project in any way, has released her contribution to the soundtrack with the emotional “What Was I Made For?”:
Pretty good, right?
Teenage me would have been ALL over this and the emo vibes.
Billie wrote the song and claims it helped her out of a writing slump. Although she’s not my usual vibe, I have a lot of respect for her and her artistry/talent. I love that she sounds like noone else, and does her own thing and OWNS it.
The “Barbie” soundtrack drops the same day as the movie on this upcoming Friday, July 21st.
Miley Cyrus is kicking off 2023 with one heck of a great new Pop single!
For the longest time, I found her kind of annoying in her “Hannah Montana” days, and of course, the years following. But all twerking aside, Miley has proven herself as one heck of an artist, and I absolutely love her voice.
Her new single “Flowers” just came out, and it’s Pop Perfection.
Ok, so the video is weird, but considering Miley once rode a wrecking ball naked, it’s actually pretty tame for her.
“Flowers” is off of her new album “Endless Summer Vacation” which comes out March 10th.
If this song is any indication, I’m thinking it’s gonna be pretty damn good.
At first I thought, “Oh, yay, another Idol contestant. Ok…” But she is quickly earning her spot in Nashville and on both Country and Top 40 radio. Her first hit single “I Hope” was a crossover smash, but I have to say, I like her new single “Footprints on the Moon” even better.
Since the song is just getting released, there’s no music video yet- just a live performance video. Call me cheesy, (because I totally am) but I love songs that motivate, and this one totally does. I can see it being a sports anthem or something like that. Being a woman who has had to prove herself time and time again, and have done things I was always told I couldn’t do, I definitely relate to this song.
Heck, these days, we can all use some motivation, right?
