In case you missed it, Stevie Nicks took to the stage on “Saturday Night Live” tp perform one of her solo classics “Edge of Seventeen”, and yep, the icon still has it!
Remember, she’s 76:
Dang. Go Stevie!
I love seeing all these classic rockers doing their thing well into their seventies and eighties.
I know there are some who like to think that artists should retire at a certain age, but I am not one of them. Do your thing as long as you want!
Chappell Roan is everywhere this year, as she should be.
She burst onto the scene earlier this year with her smash hit “Good Luck, Babe” which is catchy as HELL, and now is heating up the charts with her new single “HOT TO GO”. I absolutely love her music, which is described as “Dark Pop” by some, and her talent is really impressive. If you go down the rabbit hole and check out videos of her before she became famous, trust me, you will be hella impressed.
In the meantime, prepare to be impressed by Chappell Roan’s recent cover of one of her favorite songs- the iconic Heart track from the late 70’s “Barracuda”:
Um, HELLO!
I love how Chappell Roan made it her own, and didn’t try to be exactly like the original. Which is hard for ANYONE to do, as Anne Wilson of Heart is next freaking level vocally.
And let’s talk about her band- some amazingly women are on this stage. I absolutely love seeing this!
Chappell Roan is just getting started… although she says she may quit eventually as fame isn’t really for her. (Can’t blame her there… being famous sounds fun for maybe five minutes, then it sounds horrific.)
That being said, you might want to catch her before she bails… she seems like she puts on one hell of a show.
David Gilmour- of the iconic band Pink Floyd- crashed his daughter Romany’s London pub gig last week, and they performed a gorgeous version of Pink Floyd’s classic “Wish You Were Here::
Can you imagine your dad being David Gilmour. Like, whatttttt????
Romany Gilmour has clearly inherited some of her father’s stellar genes, and is a talented singer/songwriter herself. Check her out https://www.instagram.com/romanygilmour/
Also, Pink Floyd is life.
Last week, 11 year-old Maya Neelakatantan took to the “America’s Got Talent” Stage and totally owned her version of Metallica’s “Master of Puppets” on the electric guitar.
Such an unexpected- and totally badass- performance!
She’s 11.
That’s it. 11.
I’m 41 and can maybe bust out 3 chords on my guitars.
What’s really cool is, this is the first time that Metallica gave permission for one of their songs to be performed on a reality TV singing competition.
I don’t think they could have granted that right to a better contestant.
Motley Crue just released a new song with John 5 on guitar- and it’s a cover of the Beastie Boys classic “Fight For Your Right:.
I mean, it’s not the original, but it’s fun, high energy, and I have to say, I am really loving John 5’s guitar on this song. It really gives it one hell of a kick:
Not too shabby.
I bet it’s fun live, if Vince can handle the live vocals.
The cover is off of their upcoming EP “Cancelled” which comes out on October 3rd.
I’ve always been a Crue fan, and an 80’s Hair Metal fan as well, so I’m always happy to hear new stuff from them.
Honestly? I’m still shocked that they’re all still alive.
The 80’s Hair Band docuseries “Nothin’ But a Good Time: The Uncensored Story of 80’s Hair Metal” comes out on September 17th on Paramount +, and the trailer has me all kinds of ready:
So much yesssss… everyone from Poison to GNR to Def Leppard will be featured, and as a life long 80’s hairmetal fan, I definitely have this on my “must watch” list.
It’s a time that never will come again (thankfully) but oh, how glorious it was.
Like, in a really awesomely bad way.
Can we bring the look back, at least? I’m still a fan.
Who needs an Ozone layer when you can have hair like that?
