Foo Fighters “Under You”

Have I mentioned that I love the Foo Fighters? Maybe a thousand times?

Well, they just dropped a new song called “Under You” and it is a perfect tribute to the late Taylor Hawkins.

Sentimental, lyrically on-point, and with the signature Foo sound that has made the band a staple for decades.

“Someone said I’ll never see your face again
Part of me just can’t believe it’s true
Pictures of us sharing songs and cigarettes
This is how I’ll always picture you”

Those lyrics just hit hard.

The Foo Fighters will release their new album- their first studio effort without Taylor- on June 2nd.

Bittersweet for sure, but I’m happy they are continuing as a band, and using music to heal.

After all, it’s the best medicine there is!

Axl Rose and Carrie Underwood Rocking Out!

I’m really envious of Carrie Underwood.

Not just those pipes and those legs, but getting to perform with Axl Rose (One of my Rock Idols) several times recently? I mean, DAMN, girl.

#RESPECT

I love that Carrie has this side of her. I always wrote her off as a prissy girly-girl, but damn can she rock.  Turns out she’s a big fan of Classic Rock and metal, and she can certainly deliver the goods.

It’s really cool to see the “other” side of Carrie.  This combined with her love of fitness and red wine, well, hot damn, maybe we can be friends after all!  She’s been gaining some serious cool points with me lately.

Oooohhhh… maybe a Rock album is in her future?

I would support the fire out of that.

Metallica “If Darkness Had a Son”

I’ve been posting a lot of Country stuff lately, so here’s one for all of my rockers.

Metallica just dropped a new single this morning, and of course it will rock your face.

Presenting… “If Darkness Had a Son”:

Damnnnnn… I enjoyed all 7+ minutes of that!  I was feeding my baby when I listened to it for the first time on my phone this morning, and he was all about it, too.

Raising the kid right.

Metallica’s new album “72 Seasons” is out April 14th, and let’s just say it’s promising.

Papa Roach “No Apologies”

I’ve been rocking to Papa Roach since “Last Resort” became every wannabe angsty teens anthem in 2000. Kind of depressing that was 22 years ago, but whatever.  And what I love is that they continuously put out new music that is fresh but still has their unmistakable sound.

Their latest single “No Apologies” is such an important song right now, espeically with so many suffering from mental health issues. I hope everyone has someone in their lives that they don’t need to apologize to. Things happen. People go through stuff. Being a human is hard. I like that this song touches on that, and hopefully helps someone in the end.

After almost 30 years, Papa Roach is still getting it done. Also, their new album “Ego Trip” is out now.

Three Days Grace “Lifetime”

Ok, so maybe it’s not brand new… but when it hit, I was on vacation, and it’s still new enough to Rock radio that I wanted to give it a mention.

I’m a longtime Three Days Grace fan. They’ve consistently put out great, radio-friendly rock songs over the past couple of decades (which makes me feel old AF) and their new song “Lifetime” is another surefire #1.  It’s got a great sound, hell of a message, and triggers emotion.  And the video has me wishing I wore waterproof mascara today.

The overall message is one I can’t stress enough.

Appreciate all you have. It could be gone in a heartbeat.

I’m gonna go cry some more now.

New Mammoth WVH!

The newest radio single by Mammoth WVH (Fronted by the son of the late, great Eddie Van Halen’s song Wolfgang) is one of my favorite new releases on Rock radio right now.  I was really hoping this would be his latest single, and that wish was granted.

“Epiphany” has all the stuff I like- great bass line and guitar riff, passionate vocals, and a power chorus.  I’m betting this will be #1 on the Active Rock charts by the Spring. Calling it now.

Thank you, Eddie Van Halen, for the music and for passing that talent onto your son!
