Nate Smith and Avril Lavigne “Can You Die From a Broken Heart”

Well, this was an unexpected treat.

Country star Nate Smith has teamed up with Punk/Pop superstar Avril Lavigne for one hell of a duet called “Can You Die From a Broken Heart”.

It’s freaking fantastic.

No, really, both have incredible voices that soar over over the notes, and the melody of the song is beautiful.

Yep, I love it!

I knew something was brewing when the two were seen together in Nashville last year.  I was hoping for a collab, and here we are!

Also, Avril’s voice is still badass.

“Can You Die From a Broken Heart” is off of Nate Smith’s new album “California Gold” out Friday.

Jelly Roll on “Saturday Night Live”!

Last night was the kickoff of the 50th Season of “Saturday Night Live” and Jelly Roll was the musical guest.

Dude is EVERYWHERE these days, and he is owning pretty much every performance.

Last night was no different, as he rocked his latest release to Rock radio “Liar” and a new song called “Winning Streak”:

Solid work.

Jelly Roll’s new album “Beautifully Broken” comes out October 11th, and you can get his tour dates at http://JellyRoll615.com

Kelly Clarkson Covers “My Heart Will Go On”

The “Kelly Clarkson Show” is back for it’s 6th Season on NBC, which means… MORE KELLYOKE!!!

I live for Kellyoke. Seriously, there is NOTHING this woman can’t sing.

Case in point:

Ok, that is one ridiculously hard song to sing.

Celine Dion is one of the most talented vocalists out there, and Kelly Clarkson just proved that she is right up there with her. I love the extra “oomph” that her voice adds to the song.

Also, how awesome does she look?

Go. Girl.

Stay tuned for more gems with Kellyoke on the “Kelly Clarkson Show”- weekdays on NBC.

And if you want to go down the “Kellyoke” rabbit hole, here ya go:

Brooks and Dunn and Lainey Wilson “Play Something Country”

Well, this was just necessary.

Brooks and Dunn AND Lainey Wilson together?

All the YES right there.

Back in 2019, Brooks and Dunn released their “Reboot” album, where they re-imagined some of their greatest hits with some of Country’s biggest stars. Well, they have another similar project in the works called “Reboot 2”, featuring everyone from Lainey Wilson to Morgan Wallen to rock band Halestorm.

You’re excited right?

Because you should be.

And, to get us ready, Brooks and Dunn and Lainey Wilson just dropped their version of “Play Something Country”, and of course, it totally works:

Yep, that checks out, for sure.

Brooks and Dunn’s “Reboot 2” album will be out November 15th, and you can get more info at https://www.brooks-dunn.com/

Cody Johnson and Carrie Underwood “I’m Gonna Love You”

Country Star Cody Johnson just released a collab with vocal powerhouse Carrie Underwood, and of course, it’s lovely.

The song is called “I’m Gonna Love You”, and it’s just a pure, simple love song:

I have a feeling tha this is going to be a wedding playlist staple…

My family has a wedding venue in West Tennessee called Cogan’s Farm – http://Cogansfarm.com– so check it out!

That’s why I always have weddings on the brain.

Ok, shameless plug aside, is the song anything gorundbreaking?

No. But it doesn’t have to be.

When you have two talents like Cody and Carrie, sometimes keeping it simple and letting the vocals and emotion shine is enough.

In addition, Cody Johnson announced the deluxe version of his latest album “Leather” featuring 13 new songs on November 1st. And in case you weren’t aware, Cody Johnson live is definitely something to see- get tour dates at https://apps.codyjohnsonmusic.com/leather/ and you can catch Carrie Underwood in Vegas with her “Reflections” residency: https://www.carrieunderwoodofficial.com/

What do YOU think is the greatest movie sundtrack of all time?

Kelly Clarkson and Miranda Lambert Cover Chappell Roan!

The “Kelly Clarkson Show” is back on NBC for the 6th season, and Miranda Lambert was one of the guests this morning, and Kelly and Miranda did an acoustic version of the Chappell Roan smash “Good Luck Babe”, and it totally killed:

Ok, can we get a full-on recorded version of that?

Their voices mesh so well, and it’s just a cool take on that song.

In case you have been on another planet this Summer, here’s the OG:

There’s no official music video for the song, which is annoying. BUT this live version on Jimmy Fallon from this past Summer is almost as good:

Yeah, pretty sure Chappell Roan isn’t going anywhere for a while.

Also, I can’t wait for more great covers from Kelly Clarkson this season!

You know I’ll be sharing my favorites.

The Eagles Opening Weekend at The Sphere in Las Vegas!

This past weekend, The Eagles had their opening weekend at The Sphere in Las Vegas, and it looks absolutely spectacular.

I mean, I knew it would be incredible, but from the looks of these videos from the fans that were there, it seems that The Eagles outdid themselves.

Not do The Eagles sound incredible, as they always do, but the visual experience that The Sphere can provide as a venue is just next level.

Here are some of the videos I found.

Enjoy:

“Hotel California”:

“Desperado”:

“Life’s Been Good”:

I absolutely ADORE Joe Walsh!
“Take it Easy”:

“Life in the Fast Lane::

And one of my personal favorites, “One of These Nights”:

How great do they sound, though???

Those harmonies never miss.

It looks like this show is worth the $300+ per ticket.

The Eagles will be at The Sphere through December 14th, and you can get more info here: https://www.thesphere.com/shows/eagles

Shaboozey “Highway”

Shaboozey burst onto the Country Music scene earlier this year with his smash hit “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” which is STILL #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, making it the biggest song of the year so far. Well, Shaboozey just released his next single to Country Radio, and I’m thinking he’s not gonna be just another one hit wonder.  His new release “Highway” is so damn good!

Check it out below:

Here’s the lyrics:

“I see dead ends but we still going strongWe been heading down a one-way streetBut it feel like it’s wrongMoving like a freight train getting tired of chugging alongI’ve been tryna say goodbyeBut I’m gone miss you, girl, the second you gone
Gave me your heart, gave you heartbreak (I let you down)Sorry I’m lost in this dark place (I’ll fight it out)Somehow I’ll make it to SundayI promise I’ll be coming back
I might die on the highwayWith all my regretsI’ve been driving for miles and miles and milesI can’t see where it endsI’ve been trying to find waysTo tell you how I feel, yeahBut I can’t tell you goodbye‘Cause I know it’ll hurt if I let go of the wheel
Since you stop riding shotgun, I ain’t been myselfGoing out looking for a good time but I’m going through hellGot Jesus on the hotline saying, “You need help”Put the liquor on the shelf, tell the Devil, “Farewell”
You gave me your heart, gave you heartbreak (I let you down)Sorry I’m lost in this dark place (I’ll fight it out)Somehow I’ll make it to SundayI promise I’ll be coming back
I might die on the highwayWith all my regretsI’ve been driving for miles and miles and milesI can’t see where it endsI’ve been trying to find waysTo tell you how I feel, yeahBut I can’t tell you goodbye‘Cause I know it’ll hurt if I let go of the wheel
And I don’t want to go down this road by myselfNo, I don’t want to be the storyThat others tell
The guy who died on the highwayWith all his regretsHe was driving for miles and miles and milesCouldn’t see where it endsHe was tryna find waysTo tell her how he feelsBut when he looked in her eyesHe could tell she was hurt so he let go of the wheel.”
Pretty solid, am I right?
I really like his sound- he’s unique, but still staying in the “Country” lane.
I know there are some that are complaining about artsits like Shaboozey, Jelly Roll and  Post Malone in Country, but those are the annoying people that basically think Country stopped at Hank Sr.
It hasn’t.
Country Music, like every other genre, has to grow and evolve to reflect the times.
I, for one, love the change and growth.  There’s room for all of it.
Diversity is a good thing, people.
Kudos to Shaboozey for adding his flair to he airwaves in 2024.

Gwen Stefani “Somebody Else’s”

Dannnggg…

Gwen Stefani just dropped a new song today called “Somebody Else’s” off her upcoming fifth studio album “Bouquet”, and it’s basically a diss track about her ex-husband Gavin Rossdale.

I mean, she didn’t exactly come out and specify, but come on… it totally is:

Sick burn.

It’s actually pretty catchy and fun, and I love the theme- after all, isn’t the opposite of love not hate, but indifference?

Also, with Gavin Rossdale’s history of infidelity, and now dating Gwen’s younger clone, he may kind of deserve it.

I honestly love her and Blake Shelton together. Hey, opposites attract, and there’s nothing wrong with the Country life. Maybe it’s refreshing for Gwen to live with a real person who would rather drive  a tractor and go hunting than one who lives the rockstar lifestyle.

Who knows?

Anyhow, if you want more new Gwen, her album “Bouquet” comes out November 15th.

Although, what I really want is another No Doubt reunion.

Is that so much to ask?
