And this year’s pick? Jason Aldean’s “Try That in a Small Town”, which has caused quite an uproar between politcial parties.

I was born in 1983, so my song is “Relax” by Frankie Goes to Hollywood, which is basically a tutorial on getting off.

What song was raising eyebrows the year you were born?

Which song still gets you all riled up today?

Chris Stapleton “It Takes A Woman”

I’ve said it once, and I’ll say it a thousand more times I’m sure… Chris Stapleton can’t miss.

He just dropped a new song off of his upcoming album “Higher” and it’s absolutely glorious.

It’s called “It Takes a Woman” and it’s his signature Bluesy/Rock/Country perfection.

Can we get an “Amen” for his insanely talented wife Morgane on the background vocals? I want HER to release a solo project, or better yet- a duets project with Chris. It needs to happen, like, yesterday.

Chris’s new album Higher will be released on November 10th.

Ann and Nancy Williams of Heart Performing “Barracuda” Live!

First off, I’m just happy that Ann and Nancy Wilson are on good terms again. For awhile there, there was some family drama, and they were doing some solo stuff, but now they’ve reportedly have been working on some music together once more, and Nancy even joined Ann at the encore of her final show of her solo tour in Santa Rosa this week for their classic “Barracuda”:

Now, before anyone gets salty, Ann is 73, and can still pop some high notes out there. All of them? No. But at 23, that song would be hard to nail, let alone 50 years later. She’s still got some pipes, and Nancy can still slay the strings.

Honestly, I just get so inspired seeing these musicians in their seventies and beyond still killing it.

Kudos!!!

Now I can just impatiently wait for new music from Heart.

I’ll keep ye posted!

Foo Fighters “Everlong” Halloween Light Display

This may be the coolest thing I’ve seen this Halloween season so far..

A residence has put on a full Halloween light display featuring “Everlong”  by the Foo Fighters… one of my favorite songs by my favorite bands! A company called “Magical Light Shows” is behind this masterpiece, and they did a stellar job.

I am totally transfixed over here.

And of course, I had to go down the rabbit hole and check out more of their displays… they do amazing work!

Check them at http://magicallightshows.com

Color me hella impressed over here.

I’m sure their electric bill is impressive, too.

Worth it, though!

The Foo Fighters and Shania Twain “Best of You”

Ok, I wish I had been there to see this live.

I LOVEEEE the Foo Fighters, and have been a Shania Twain fan since she came on the scene when I was in Jr. High, so seeing this live would have blown my little mind.

At ACL Fest over the weekend, The Foos brought on none other than Shania to perform one of my favorite Foo Fighters songs “Best of You”:

How cool was that?

I mean, was it a great performance? Nah. But come on, Shania’s voice got all jacked up when she had Lyme disease, and the fact that she’s even out there is cool. I know there’s been some haters online, but come the heck on. Lighten the hell up! Shania just shared the stage with The Foos. That’s what I’m focusing on.

Can we get a collab, please? I feel like Dave would be accepted in any genre, anytime, anywhere.

This made my heart happy this morning.

Carly Pearce “Heels Over Head”

I have loved Carly Pearce since she first hit the Country scene, and dammit, I love her even more after hearing this song!

It’s called “Heels Over Head” and was released early this morning.

Yasssss…. that song is a sick burn to someone… possibly to whoever dated her ex-husband Michael Ray after the divorce?  You know Carly loves to write about real life.

Seriously, I love what Carly is doing for the Country genre. True Country music, great songwriting, real-life experiences, and a fantastic voice to tell the story. She’s got it ALL.

Also, expect more music from Carly in the future. She’s been teasing new stuff on instagram, and I can’t wait to hear more!

Toby Keith “Don’t Let the Old Man In”

Toby Keith has had a rough couple of years. He was diagnosed with Stomach Cancer, and has been undergoing treatments the past year.  He made an appearance at the Inaugural People’s Choice Country Awards last week, and he performed his new song “Don’t Let the Old Man In” and brought pretty much everyone who watched it to tears.

Oh, AND it’s #1 on the itunes Country chart this week. As it should be.

The song, which he wrote after having a conversation with Clint Eastwood while sharing a golf cart, is something I think everyone needs to hear:

Annnnddd… in case you missed it last week, here is his performance of the song at the Peoples’ Choice Country Awards:

Toby is a fantastic songwriter, and this song proves it once again.

My favorite lyric: “Ask yourself how would you be
If you didn’t know the day you were born”

Yeah, I would not be 40, that’s for sure. I think that’s a good thing.

My parents are 72. They are still crazy active and run a wedding venue (Cogan’s Farm- look it up!) and my Dad still works. They say all the activity – both physical and mental- keeps them young. I couldn’t agree more.

I wish Toby and his family all the best, and he’s doing all he can to keep the Old Man on the doorstep. As should we all.

Toby will be releasing an album called “100% Songwriter” via Mercury Records on November 3rd, which features his favorite songs that he has written.

He’s got so many great ones, and it looks like he shows no sign of stopping.

Good.

That being said, I will continue to take the song’s advice and “toast each sundown with wine”.

I can definitely get down with that.

Taylor Swift/Travis Kelce Break Up Song

As everyone on the planet is totally aware of by now, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are dating.

Or they are faking it because they’re being paid mega-bucks by the NFL.

Either way, I’m totally here for it.

But… we all know what goes down will end up on Taylor’s next album, right? And it will probably sound something like this:

@thereiruinedit

Brilliant songwriting by @Will King ???? ???? #taylorswift #traviskelce

♬ original sound – There I Ruined It

God, I love “There I Ruined It”. Follow them on Youtube, Insta and TikTok.  They’re usuing AI in the way the good Lord intended… to keep us entertained.

Also, let’s enjoy “Traylor” while it lasts. I don’t know why, but I’m getting a kick out of all of it. Real or not.

Perhaps this is my sign that I need to get a life.

Luke Combs “Where the Wild Things Are”

Luke Combs has announced his latest radio single, and it’s one of my favorites of his.

“Where the Wild Things Are” will be playing like crazy on Country radio soon, so be ready.

I’m totally not mad at it.

Isn’t that a cool song?

Written by Randy Montana and Dave Turnbull, it sounds like nothing on the radio just now.  A great mid-tempo beat and story to go with it.

So… yeah. You just heard Luke Combs 17th #1 hit.

That was an easy one to call!

Wynonna Judd and Trisha Yearwood “Cry Myself to Sleep”

I am a big 90’s Country girl- after all, it’s what I grew up on. My small town of Henderson, TN only had one radio station, and it was Country (107.7!), so it was basically all I listened to for a while growing up.  Both Wynonna Judd and Trisha Yearwood were radio staples, and I absolutely loved them. So, naturally, I was excited to hear that a tribute album to The Judds would be coming out this Fall. One of the re-imagined songs was just released, and it’s Wynonna and Trisha on one of my favorite Judds songs, “Cry Myself to Sleep”.

Yep, exactly what I had expected it to be.

Two incredible voices on a classic… you can’t go wrong with those two!

“A Tribute to The Judds” will feature more collabs with everyone from Carly Pearce to Reba to Jelly Roll to Cody Johnson.

Am I excited?

Ya damn skippy.

“A Tribute to The Judds” comes out October 27th.
