Dolly Parton Feat. Steve Perry “Open Arms”

Dolly Parton released her new album “Rockstar” this morning, so first thing, I had to crank it up while making breakfast.

Here’s my first favorite off the album… her version ofĀ  Journey’s “Open Arms” with former lead vocalist Steve Perry.

Ahhhhhhhhh! I was not excpecting that. Just a reminder: Dolly is 77, and her voice is still that amazing. “Open Arms” is NOT an easy song to sing, with those soaring, open notes, but Dolly just made it her own.

So, so beautiful.

Here’s the full track listing of “Rockstar”:

1. “Rockstar” (special guest Richie Sambora)
2. “World on Fire”
3. “Every Breath You Take” (feat. Sting)
4. “Open Arms” (feat. Steve Perry)

11. “Baby, I Love Your Way” (feat. Peter Frampton)
12. “I Hate MyselfĀ for Loving You” (feat. Joan Jett & the Blackhearts)
13. “Night Moves” (feat. Chris Stapleton)
14. “Wrecking Ball” (feat. Miley Cyrus)
15. “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction” (feat. P!nk and Brandi Carlile)

18. “Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me” (feat. Elton John)
19. “Tried to Rock and Roll Me” (feat. Melissa Etheridge)
20. “Stairway to Heaven” (feat. Lizzo and Sasha Flute)

23. “My Blue Tears” (feat. Simon Le Bon)

29. “Let it Be” (feat. Paul McCartney & Ringo Starr with special guests Peter Frampton & Mick Fleetwood)
30. “Free Bird” (feat. Ronnie Van Zant with special guests Gary Rossington, Artimus Pyle and the Artimus Pyle Band)

That’s some serious Rockstar Power on this album, and I can’t wait to listen to the rest.

Dolly for President, ya’ll!

Kelly Clarkson Covering Lainey Wilson’s “Watermelon Moonshine”

I’m pretty sure that there isn’t a song that Kelly Clarkson can’t make her own.

She covered Lainey Wilson’s “Watermelon Moonshine” this week on her “Kelly Clarkson Show” during her daily “Kellyoke” segment, and of course, she CRUSHED it!

Goodness, her voice never fails to amaze me with how pure and perfect it is.

Also, how great does she look? I’m so happy that she seems healthy and happy. She deserves it.

Also, I think WE deserve a Country album from Kelly Clarkson.

Why hasn’t this happened yet?

Jason and Travis Kelce “Fairytale of Philadelphia”

So far, the new holiday tunes this year haven’t disappointed. Jason and Travis Kelce (Of the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs) are keeping that Christmas ball rolling with a duet called “Fairytale of Philadelphia”.

It’s a take on “Fairytale of New York” by The Pogues, and it’s for the deluxe version of the album “A Philly Special Christmas”.

And you know what?

It doesn’t suck.

They don’t sound too bad, do they? I love how different their voices are. And it makes sencheer for theEaglesse since they’re brothers, and Philadelphia is the “City of Brotherly Love”.

Fun fact: although I grew up in West TN, I was born in the Philly area, and moved to Tennessee when I was 9. So, my entire family cheers for The Eagles.Ā  However, with a large portion of my life in KC and Kansas in general, I am for the Chiefs.

Also, here’s some behind the scenes to see how this all came about:

Pretty cool, right?

I love the Kelce Brothers! They seem like genuinely good dudes, and a hell of a good time.

And since we know Travis can carry a tune, maybe a holiday duet with his lady love Taylor Swift?

Is that too much to ask for?

The Wilder Blue Feat. Luke Combs “Seven Bridges Road”

Well, this was a pleasant surprise this morning.

The Wilder Blue – if you’re not in the know- are an incredible Country/Folk group that is making waves in the more alternative Country world. They’re the real freaking deal. And they just teamed up with the Realest of the Deals Luke Combs for a rendition of The Eagle’s classic “Seven Bridges Road”.

Here’s how it all went down:

How cool is that? I’m glad independent artists are getting some love and recognition from the big guys.

This is a sonic treat:

Woahhhh… wasn’t that good?

You’re weclome.

I celebrate The Eagles’ entire catalogue, and I have to say that I heartily approve.

Also, I want to throw in a favorite Wilder Blue song of mine for you to enjoy.

It’s called “Palomino Gold”:

The real deal, folks.

Post Malone “Pick-Up Man”

Last week, Post Malone joined HARDY and Morgan Wallen onstage at the CMA Awards for a medley honoring the late, great Joe Diffie.

In case you missed it…

I honestly enjoyed the heck out of that.

So, naturally, that performance is promoting HARDY’s “Hixtape Vol 3”, and it’s got Posty covering “Pickup Man” on it by Joe Diffie… and even features some of his vocals on it.

And you know what? It’s really freaking good.

Whatttttt????

Color me impressed. But I think at this point after hearing his Country covers, everyone knew that Post Malone would slide effortlessly into Country Music, but damn, he slid better than I thought!

It’s also now on the Billboard Hot Country Charts this week, marking Posty’s first time on the Country charts. I’m not mad at it. I like my Country Wide Open. It’s currently at #56, and I have a feeling it’s going to just go up from there.Ā  Same goes for Post Malone’s Country career.

S/O to HARDY for coming up with the Hixtapes. He’s got his next dropping in March of 2024, and with all of the photos of Post Malone in Nasvhille studios lately… something big is brewing. Stay tuned!

Priscilla Block “Hey Jack”

In case you’ve been missing out, I just want to let you in on one of the up-and-coming artists in Nashville. Priscilla Block combines one hell of a voice, great songwriting, and relatability into one hell of a package.

She just released a new song called “Hey, Jack”, and it totally reminds me of twenty-two year-old me. Except she pulls it off better.

The song- written by Priscilla, Randy Montana, Jeremy Stover, and Dave Cohen- is super catchy, and very relateable. Especially if you’re a young woman in her twenties trying to navigate the dating scene, or if you ever had been that woman before, which I totally was. I really hope Country Radio catches on with her style of Country. She’s already had a couple of his with “Just About Over You”, and a number one hit recently with Justin Moore on “You, Me, and Whiskey”.Ā  I have a feeling that this is just the beginning for this super-talented woman. Also, she is crazy fun to follow on instagram.

A few years ago, when she hi it big on Tik Tok, I got a chance to cha with her, and seriously, you can’t help but love her! Check the interview below:

Isn’t she fun???

Also, she just announced her “Hey Jack” tour for 2024.

Ya’ll, the Priscilla Block Party is just getting started!

Get ready.

Kenny Chesney “Take Her Home”

Just in case you missed it, Kenny Chesney announced his “When The Sun Goes Down” Stadium tour for 2024 with the Zac Brown Band, Megan Moroney and Uncle Kracker last week. So, it was only appropriate that he release a new song as well. And it’s a good one, of course!

It’s called “Take Her Home” and I’m smelling a future #1 hit on Country Radio.

I may have teared up at the end.Ā  Ever since becoming a mom I cry at anything and everything baby-related. It’s really annoying.

Now, I know the song follows the usual boy-meets-girl then has a family formula for Country songs, but, hey, it’s relateable.Ā  And it tells a story, which is what Country really is all about, right? I like it, and I can’t wait for more new music from Kenny, which will be coming soon, as he has a new album in the works.

Also, have you ever been to a Kenny Chesney stadium tour? Definitely something you need to check out if you’re checking items off of your concert bucket list.Ā  I saw him at Arrowhead Stadium a few years back, and it’s a great concert experience.Ā  It’s funny, because my first concert that I ever attended was Kenny Chesney at the Mid-South Fair in Memphis when I was 13. It was a part of a 4-H trip, and he had maybe one or two hit songs at the time.Ā  So, it’s funny to think of this artist who sang in a dusty arenaĀ  that smelled like cow dung going from there to massive stadiums, and being one of the biggest stars in Country Music. I love watching these journeys unfold!

Walker Hayes “Fancy Like Christmas”

Tis’ the Season for Holiday music, and Walker Hayes just released a Christmas Banger.

I’m sure you’re familiar with Walker’s smash hit from a couple of years ago “Fancy Like”, right?Ā  Well, he just made a Christmas version, and it’s perfect.

“Bougie Like Blow Ups in the Front Yard”… Yassss….

It’s sure to be a holiday classic, right up there with “White Christmas”.

Ok, maybe not, but you know I’ll be jamming this and craving Starbucks and Applebee’s all the while.

Cheers to the holidays, ya’ll!

Chris Stapleton “Higher”

Chris Stapleton AKA “The Greatest Freaking Singer on This Planet” just dopped his 5th studio album “Higher” this morning, and it’s full of panty-dropping gems.

Take the title track “Higher”:

Holy High Notes!

I mean, is there anything Chris Stapleton’s voice can’t do?

I’m thinking negative, Ghostrider.

Chris actually had that song for over twenty years, but he was “scared” of it, due to the high notes and head tones.

Funny to think that an incredible vocalist like Chris is scared to do anything with those golden vocal chords, but thankfully he got over that fear and gave us this and another great album to enjoy.

We don’t deserve Chris.

Post Malone Goes Country With Morgan Wallen and Hardy at the 2023 CMA Awards

In case you missed it…

Last night Morgan Wallen, HARDY, and Post Malone teamed up for a medley honoring the late, great Joe Diffie at the CMA Awards.

And you know what?

It was pretty damn cool.

Posty has some Country Chops!

I grew up listening to Joe Diffie, and 90’s Country music in general, and I was all for it.

I know there are some people who have no lives complaining on social media that “That’s NOT COUNTRY”.

Oh, get over yourself, and enjoy the damn music. If that’s what gets your goat, then consider yourself blessed.

Also, HARDY announced his “Hixtape Vol. 3” which whill feature Morgan Wallen and Post Malone, and it features the Joe Diffie covers.
