New Song of the Week: 4-15-22

Morgan Wallen, as promised, dropped his new sing;e “Don’t Think Jesus” earlier today, and of course, it’s a banger.

It obviously reflects his own life, recent events, public scorn and judgement… and it’s just one heck of a great Country song.

Guess what? We ALL screw up.  Most of us are just lucky enough to not have it in the public eye. I love how this song addresses that. It’s very human and relateable, which of course, it what Country music SHOULD be.

Definitely adding this one to the playlist.

Jason Michael Carroll Interview

One of my favorite Country artists of the mid-2000’s was Jason Michael Carroll. He had some big radio hits with “Alyssa Lies”, “I Can Sleep When I’m Dead” and “Living Our Love Song” which I loved.  Well, Jason is back with a great new single called “Tell Me Your Name” (Diane’s Song” and he was nice enough to call in and chat about it.

Here’s the new single “Tell Me Your Name”

Make sure you follow Jason @jasonmichaelcarroll on social media for updates!

New Morgan Wallen “Wasted On You”

Morgan Wallen keeps on comin’ with the big hits. His album “Dangerous” was the #1 selling album of 2021 despite being “cancelled” (over 3 million copies sold, which is a massive number, especially these days) and it keeps spawning hit after hit.

His latest radio release is another surefire #1.  “Wasted on You” is a well-written heartbreak song that anyone who has ever drowned their heartbreak in Jack Daniels can relate to.  What I like about Morgan’s music is that he bridges old and new Country and puts out songs that almost every Country fan can approve of.

That’s really hard to do.

Check Out This ERNEST/Morgan Wallen Collab!

I’m all for REAL Country music, and when this song hit my inbox, I immediately fell in love with it!  Up and Comer ERNEST has a true Country voice and style, and when you combine it with Morgan Wallen, you’ve got modern Country GOLD.

“Flower Shops” has one of my new favorite lines “Violets and Daisies to hide all the crazy”.  The song is already #1 on itunes, and I’m thinking it’s just starting it’s run as a chart topper.  I’m happy to kick off the new year with some real Country music… I hope this trend cotinues the rest of the year!  I can’t wait to hear more from both ERNEST and Morgan in the coming months.  As for Morgan, it looks like Country music has moved on from his controversy of last year, as his album “Dangerous” was the #1 album of 2021. NOT just in Country music, but across all the genres.  Say what you will about him, the guy has chops.

Plus, if you want some bad Country music behavior- go look up what George Jones and Randy Travis -two legends- got into in their day.  We just didn’t have the social media to blow things up.

Also, clearly, mullets are here to stay.

New Song of the Week: 6-13-21

Being an Army wife, I always get really excited when there’s a new song that praises our military, which Country Music seems to do pretty well. I just came across the new song from Trace Adkins, and it got me in the feels a little bit.  It’s called “Empty Chair” and it’s a great salute to those who fought and sacrificed so much for our country.

Maybe it’s just me getting older, or just more aware as the years go on as a military spouse of how incredible our servicemen and women are, but songs like this need to happen more. As a whole, our population tends to forget what our soldiers went through in the past (and still go through on the daily) to protect our rights and freedoms.  It seems that we can be too busy complaining about our country and being ridiculously sensitive about every little thing to really appreciate how great we have it here. We’re lucky. And it’s because of those who fought for it that we can enjoy so many freedoms.  Remember that, ok?

Ok, I’m not going to get too soapboxy because I ate too much Mexican food tonight, and I just want to sleep.

Thank you, Trace Adkins, for this song! And as always, THANK YOU to our military.

Check Out This Amazing Song By New Artist Kylie Frey

I was listening to a Country station that one of my best friends Carly Evans programs (Mountain Country 107.3) and unlike a lot of Country stations, it actually features new artists that haven’t hi it big yet.  This song came on the radio, and 3 minutes later I was crying.  It wasn’t just the pregnancy hormones.

The song is called “Horses in Heaven” and the artist is Kylie Frey, and Country star Randy Houser does the back up vocals.  It’s a well-written, heart-wrenching song that anyone who has strong family ties, loves horses, and has a deep love and respect for the Country lifestyle (or all three like me!) will totally get.

I love REAL Country music, and this song is definitely it.  I really hope to hear more from Kylie in the future!
