Jason Aldean “Try That in a Small Town”

Jason Aldean just put out a new single, “Try That in a Small Town”, and I have a feeling it’s his next #1 hit.  Because it’s Jason Aldean, and no matter how generic a song is, if he sings it, it’s an automatic #1 at Country Radio (he and Luke Bryan have this in common), and also, because the content speaks to a majority of the Country demographic.  Having grown up in a small town (Henderson, TN- look it up, ya’ll), it spoke to me as well.  My husband and I both hail from small West Tennessee towns, and this song is spot on.  And honestly? It’s not a bad thing.  Life truly is different in the Country, and I really can’t wait to return one day. Don’t get me wrong, it’s been great to live in all kinds of parts of the US, and experience different ways to live, but small-town life on the farm will always be where my heart lies.

And good luck taking anyone’s guns in a small town.  Especially my husband’s!

Yep, small town life truly is different, and again, not a bad thing.  A lot of my “City Friends” hate on the lifestyle, but until you have truly lived it and experienced it, don’t judge, ok?

Except for mudding. I still can’t figure out why people think that’s fun?

Foo Fighters “Under You”

Have I mentioned that I love the Foo Fighters? Maybe a thousand times?

Well, they just dropped a new song called “Under You” and it is a perfect tribute to the late Taylor Hawkins.

Sentimental, lyrically on-point, and with the signature Foo sound that has made the band a staple for decades.

“Someone said I’ll never see your face again
Part of me just can’t believe it’s true
Pictures of us sharing songs and cigarettes
This is how I’ll always picture you”

Those lyrics just hit hard.

The Foo Fighters will release their new album- their first studio effort without Taylor- on June 2nd.

Bittersweet for sure, but I’m happy they are continuing as a band, and using music to heal.

After all, it’s the best medicine there is!

Ed Sheeran and Luke Combs ACM Performance

The 2023 ACM Awards were last night in Texas, and as per usual, the live performances did NOT disappoint!

(Also, I enjoyed watching it on Prime- way less commercials, and it only took a couple of hours, which is perfect for my short attention span)

Here’s one of my favorite performances of the night:

Ed Sheeran and Luke Combs “Life Goes On”

Ed and Luke together?

YASSSSSSSS. So much talent on that stage.

And Ed did say this week that he would love to transition to Country music, so we shall see…

Here’s the rcorded version that just dropped this morning:

So, soooo good.

I’m totally down for Ed on Country radio.

What do you think?

Dolly Parton “World on Fire”

Dolly Parton is LIFE.

She just released her first single off of her upcoming “Rockstar” album called “World on Fire”, and you know what? It’s a banger.

No, really, it is.

Damnnnn, Dolly. Way to hit the nail on the head with every lyric in that song!

Can she run for President? Please?

Earlier this week, Dolly announced the track listing and the 40 collaborators on her “Rockstar” album, and it’s got me pretty dang excited.

YES to ALL of it!!!

Dolly’s new album drops November 17th, and I can’t wait to hear more!

Bebe Rexha feat. Dolly Parton “Seasons”

Bebe Rexha just released her new album “Bebe” today, and it features a collaboration with the iconic Dolly Parton (who seems to be working with EVERYONE except Mick Jagger these days…), and you know what? It’s pretty good!

Check out “Seasons” below:

I really enjoyed that! I’m so used to Bebe’s over-produced pop songs which dominate Top 40 radio, so it was nice to hear a different side and really get to appreciate her vocals. They blend perfectly with Dolly’s legendary voice.

Also, that’s a lot of blonde and boobs in the video.

I don’t think anyone is mad at it.

Again, Bebe’s new album is out today, and I hope she puts out more songs like this!

Luke Grimes “Hold On”

Anyone else totally loving Luke Grimes’s new music?

At first when the “Yellowstone” actor (he portrays Kayce Dutton on the show) announced that he was going to try and become a Country singer, I admit, I rolled my eyes a little. Because what actor/actress doesn’t want to be a singer, and vice versa?

But I gave his first single, “No Horse to Ride” a listen, and was impressed.  And he just dropped this new song called “Hold On” and once again, it’s real Country music, and definitely has a cool sound to it.

Yep, another song that would totally fit with the “Yellowstone” soundtrack.

That is, if they ever freaking finish up Season 5! (What the hell, guys???)

In the meantime, Luke Grimes is popping out some great Country tunes, and I’m for sure looking forward to his debut album.

Stay tuned for more info!

New Kelly Clarkson Is Here!

Kelly Clarkson is back with some vocal bangers!

She’s been teasing new music for quite some time… we knew she would have plenty of material after her messy divorce from Brandon Blackstock, and according to her two new singles “Me” and “Mine” which just came out this morning, well, thing must have been REAL bad.

“me”

“mine”

Damn, those pipes, though!

I’m definitely more of a fan of her upbeat songs (that’s just me) but there’s no denying her vocal prowess and raw emotion.

She and Adele need collab, like, yesterday.

More to come on her new album “Chemistry” on June 23rd!

Conner Smith Interview and New Single “Creek Will Rise”

Conner Smith is one of the hottest up-and- coming Country acts right now, and his new single “Creek Will Rise” came across my desk recently, so I gave it a listen, and I was immediately hooked!

I’m thinking “Song of the Summer” material for sure.

Plus, Conner was cool enough to call in and chat about the song and all he’s got going on in 2023, including a tour with Luke Bryan!

Seriously, I can’t wait to hear more from Conner, and I think he’s got one heck of a future ahead of him as a singer and songwriter.

Lukas Nelson Feat. Lainey Wilson “More Than Friends”

Lukas Nelson (Yes, one of Willie Nelson’s sons!) and his band “Promise of the Real”  just released a collab with Lainey Wilson, so of course, I had to check it out!

It’s called “More Than Friends” and it’s pretty damn catchy!

Lainey is like the perfect ingredient for any Country music song. Her voice and total vibe is perfection!

Also, Lukas Nelson and The Real have a new album “Sticks and Stones” out July 14th if you want more.

Ed Sheeran “Eyes Closed”

Ed Sheeran just dropped his new singles early this morning, and it just makes my heart happy.

It’s like he doesn’t know how to disappoint, and I’m fine with that!

Off his upcoming album “Subtract” here’s the first single “Eyes Closed”.

Annnnnddd there’s another #1 for Ed.  Emotional, catchy, great hook and lyrics, beautiful vocals… all the stuff Ed is made of.

I’ve always respected him as an artist, and he’s the real deal. He’ll be one of those that decades down the road, he’ll still be a constant force in music.

Ed’s new album “Subtract” comes out May 5th, and with a lead single like this, I can’t wait for the rest!
