Kelsea Ballerini “Sorry Mom”

I’m going to be honest. I wasn’t really feeling Kelsea Ballerini when she first came out with her debut single “Love You Like You Mean It” in 2015.  Of course, that was when Bro/Pop Country was at it peak.  With songs like “Love Me Like You Mean It” and “Hey, Boy”, I was underwhelmed. But Kelsea has really grown so much as an artist and songwriter, and her latest release “Sorry Mom” shows how far she has come:

As someone who has a really close relationship with her mother, and who has done some dumb things that I know she didn’t approve of, this song is something I can truly relate to. And I know so many other women (and I’m sure men, too) will relate. After this and her collab with Noah Kahn “Cowboys Cry Too”, I’m really excited to see what she has in store for us on her upcoming album “Patterns” out October 25th.

Morgan Wallen Teases New Song!

Happy Friday!

Morgan Wallen- in case you missed it- has gifted us with another teaser… this time for a song called “Good to See You Smile”, and I’m thinking it could be one of his best yet:

Damn. I can’t wait for the full version to drop.

No word on when that’s going to happen, but typically, when an artist teases something, that means something is going to be happening soon.

I really like Morgan’s deeper, slower tunes, as opposed to the catchy hits like last year’s smash “Last Night”.

Seriously, say what you will about Morgan- you can’t deny the guys talent.

He’s also killing it on his stadium tour right now- dates and info at http://Morganwallen.com

Jelly Roll “Liar”

Jelly Roll just keeps putting out the hits, and his new single “Liar” is sure to keep that train a rolling.

Fans have been waiting for this release since he performed it at the Grand Ole Opry earlier this year, and the full single is sure to be another hit:

What I like about Jelly Roll is his relatablity and honesty, which comes through in his songwriting. All of us have been in a situation like he describes in “Liar”, be it addiction, an abusive relationship, or just simple self-loathing.

This song is standing up to whatever demons haunt you.

I honestly really like his music, and to those who are hating on Jelly being in Country Music, I ask why? Isn’t what makes Country Music special is the storytelling and relatability?

Jelly Roll has that on lock.

This song will be on Jelly Roll’s upcoming follow-up to his hit album “Whitsitt Chapel”, due out later this year.

Sorry, haters. Jelly is here to stay.

Lainey Wilson Feat. Miranda Lambert “Good Horses”

Ahhhh!

I have been waiting for this since Lainey Wilson and Miranda Lambert performed it in Vegas back in December.

Earlier this morning, Lainey and Miranda dropped a new song called “Good Horses”, and it’s everything I had hoped for.

I mean, really, how can you go wrong with these two?

PERFECTIIOn.

“Good Horses” was written by Lainey Wilson and Miranda Lambert alongside songwriter Luke Dick.

Everything about it, I love. The lyrics, which as a horse woman and a woman who has been hapily married for seventeen years to a man who has never tried to fence me in, speak to me on so many levels. And yes, a good horse will always come home. It knows where the hay is. Being a military wife, and someone who always likes to do my own thing and have my own life as well, this song is both me and my husband. We will always make our way back home to each other, no matter what. No need to keep each other in a round pen.

Kudos to Lainey and Miranda, not for just a beautifully written song that is nothing like what is on Country radio just now, but also for the gorgeous vocals.

“Good Horses” will be on Lainey’s upcoming album “Whirlwind” which will be out August 23rd.

Post Malone “Yours”

I can’t love this song enough.

Post Malone is gearing up for the release of his upcoming Country album “F-1 Trillion” and did a live show in Nashville earlier this week at Marathon Music Works. He debuted several new songs, including “Yours”, which he wrote about his 2-year-old daughter getting married one day, and how he will feel if that happens.

As a mother, this basically slays my heart:

Oh, my heart!

You will be hearing this at ALL the weddings for the next couple of decades.

Seriously, I am so impressed with Post Malone and how he’s moving into Country music.

I absolutely cannot wait for his album “F-1 Trillion”, which drops August 16th. He will, of course, have a tour to follow, and you can get those dates at http://Postmalone.com

Miranda Lambert “Ain’t in Kansas Anymore”

I’m REALLY looking forward to the upcoming “Twisters” movie soundtrack.

It’s full of some of Country Music’s best, like Lainey Wilson, Luke Combs, Thomas Rhett, and many more.

Miranda Lambert just released her contribution to the soundtrack “Ain’t In Kansas Anymore”, and of course, it’s perfect:

Miranda wrote the track for the “Twisters” movie soundtrack with Jesse Frasure and Jenee Fleenor.

Check out the full track listing. It’s pretty badass:

Katy Perry “Woman’s World”

Katy Perry is back, and she’s not playing any games.

She just released her new single “Woman’s World”, which is the lead single off of her upcoming album “143” out September 20th.

It’s super fun, and reminds me of her earlier days- lots of sass and cathcy hooks.

As a woman, of course I love it. Because, let’s be real, women are pretty rad when you think about it. I mean, we can give life, work hard, kick ass, and just do a few things that men can’t.

Don’t hate, appreciate!

Also, how badass does Katy look?

I’m just happy that she’s returning to the infectuous Pop that she started out with, and I’m really looking forward to the new album.

Again, “143” drops September 20th.

Bring it!

Carly Pearce “Truck on Fire”

Carly Pearce has sent her new single to Country radio, and it’s a good, old-fashioned revenge song.

Her new single off her latest album “hummingbird” which came out last month is called “Truck on Fire”, and it’s a departure from what she’s had on Country radio lately. Instead of sad, emotonal songs like her collab with Chris Stapleton “We Don’t Talk Anymore” and her Grammy winning duet with Ashley McBryde “Never Wanted to be That Girl”, Carly ready to get into arson with “Truck on Fire” which is about, well, setting a cheater’s truck on fire. Because, why not?

It’s like the sequel to Carrie Underwood’s 2005 hit “Before He Cheats”. Like, forgetting keying the truck and hitting it with a baseball bat, just light the whole thing up.

That’ll show him.

Although, he probably has insurance…

Personally, I would go after something irreplaceable and sentimental, like his hunting trophies, but that’s just me.

If my husband pulls any dirty tricks, I’m going for the deer heads and turkey beards.

Come on, Nashville, put me on the songwriting roster!

In the meantime, you get truck on fire songs from Carly Pearce, which will do.

Zach Bryan and John Mayer “Better Days”

In case you missed it this past 4th of July, Zach Bryan- one of the hottest Country artists on the scene right now- dropped a new album “The Great American Bar Scene”, and there are some predictably great songs on there.

One that is getting a lot of attention is the collab with John Mayer called “Better Days”, and the behind-the-scenes video just came out a few minutes ago.

Talk about combining some great songwriting!

Pretty damn good, right?

Here’s the full lyrics:

Don’t get angry, listen to the sounds
Them good times will find their way back around
And I’ve got the answers, go on and touch my skin
Them better days always come back again

[Verse 2: Zach Bryan & John Mayer, Zach Bryan]
This life’s a boat, boy, it all comes in waves
On the radio, her laughter and sweet mistakes
And I wasn’t loved well as a younger child
So I’ll pray these better, unstable days, they stay awhile

[Chorus: Zach Bryan & John Mayer, Zach Bryan]
So don’t get hateful, Lord, hot damn
There’s a fire burnin’ in the back forty
I’m still findin’ out who the hell I am
And I’m so tired of wastin’ it away
Gonna find the time to realize
I’m in deep on better days

[Verse 3: Zach Bryan & John Mayer]
She always told me there’d be times like this
With a blue guitar, a city bar and a streetlight kiss
But I’ve never known quite what I deserve
You try so hard and wind up gettin’ burned

Solid stuff right there…

Zach Bryan makes emo Country that I want to drink beer and reminisce to.

“The Great American Bar Scene” is out now, and Zach is tearing up the road right now on his “Quittin’ Time” tour, and you can get those dates at https://www.zachbryan.com/tour

Morgan Wallen “Lies Lies Lies”

Morgan Wallen gave fans something to celebrate this Fourth of July weekend.

He just released a fan favorite called “Lies Lies Lies”, and if you haven’t heard it, it’s kind of a banger, like most of Morgan Wallen’s catalogue.

SUCH a good song, and I totally get why is super fans wanted him to release it.

It was originally a part of Morgan’s “Abbey Road Sessions” in London, and his fans have been begging for an actual studio recorded release, and he delivered.

The song is written by Jessie Jo Dillon, Josh Miller, Daniel Ross and Chris Tompkins, and if it goes to radio, I’m betting it’ll be another #1 for Morgan.

There is NO stopping this guy.

Unless, you know, he has another few scandals… but so did most of the greats in Country music.

Morgan Wallen is currently slaying it on his “One Night at a Time” staium tour, and you can get those dates at http://MorganWallen.com
