Miranda Lambert is forever one of my favorite artists- not just in Country Music, but across all the genres. She’s got a lot of things happening right now, including several collaborations that we can look forward to. In fact, she just gave us a new song this morning with Leon Bridges called “If You Were Mine” and it’s perfect.
I just love the easy vibe to the song, as well as those two unique voices together. Can’t wait to hear more of what she’s got in the pipeline for us!
Miranda did say that her dream collab would be with Beyonce.
Ever since I was a kid, I have loved Tanya Tucker. Not only is she a great Country singer-like, total LEGEND status- but she has always been an equine enthusiast as I have been since pretty much birth. She actually used to show Arabian Horses, which is the breed I’ve always been into, but lately has moved onto Friesians, which, really, unless you are super rich, good luck affording one! They’re like the Onyx Unicorns of the equine species.
Anyhow, Tanya made quite the entrance at the Grand Ole Opry Friday night, riding her Friesian Stallion onstage!
If you’re like me, and a majority of people who watch TV, it’s likely you’re a fan of “Yellowstone” or at least are kind of into it. If nothing else, you know who Luke Grimes is. The actor who plays the tortured heartthrob Kayce Dutton just released another Country song- yeah, he’s a Country singer now, and he’s not half bad!
This one he co-wrote with Brent Cobb and was produced by Dave Cobb. It’s called “Playin’ in the Tracks” and it, like all of his others so far, have that old-school Country vibe.
Again, totally a song I could see on the “Yellowstone” soundtrack. You know, like when someone is getting taken to the “Train Station”.
When is his debut album coming out?
Like the second half of Season 5 of “Yellowstone”, I have no freaking clue.
Jewel’s performance of the National Anthem at the Indy 500 this past weekend.
Ok, I’m just gonna say that I thought it was fantastic.
Jewel did the anthem HER way which is what works for HER voice. Had she tried to sing it traditionally, it wouldn’t have worked.
Here’s the thing, the National Anthem sung traditionally is super had to sing- it’s got that octave jump and anyone who doesn’t nail it as written gets slammed online. So, really, artists are being set up for failure unless they’re freaking Whitney Houston. So, Jewel decided to do the anthem in her own style. So what? Did she get down on one knee? Did she spit like Roseanne Barr did? Did she say or do anything even remotely anti-American? No? What’s the problem then?
Honestly, I’d be down for changing The National Anthem for something like “America the Beautiful” or Lee Greenwood’s “God Bless the USA”. But people would complain about that, too. “That’s the way it’s always been done!!!” Yeah, those people.
I think it was a cool version, and people need to chilllll… if this is what gets you all fired up, you’ve got bigger issues in life than a folksie twist on the National Anthem.
AI is everywhere these days, and for me, it’s absoluely terrifying. I mean, if it’s gaining this much traction now, imagine a decade from now… a century from now (That is, if we even exist as a species, which I highly doubt).
Yeah, crazy stuff.
Anyhow, a UK production company called Private Island (privateisland.tv) made a 30 second beer ad using AI, and it’s creepy AF.
What did I just watch???
I feel like it’s a modern-day episode of the “Twighlight Zone” which is not far off from what our future is going to resemble.
When it comes to AI, just becuase we can, doesn’t mean we should.
Ok, so a couple of days ago, I heard that Hot Country Knights (Dierks Bentley’s 90’s Cover Band) collabed with my girl Lainey Wilson, and I was on high alert until this dropped this morning.
Lainey (aka Darla McFarland) and Dierks crushed this song called “Herassmeant”, and let’s be real, Lainey is perfect for it, as she’s got the voice AND the ass for it!
If you didn’t find this funny, well, I’m sorry about your life.
I freaking LOVE Halestorm and Lzzy Hale, and Ashley McBryde is one of my favorites on the Country scene right now, so when I saw that they just collabed on a re-imgained version of “Terrible Things” I was here for it.
And yes, it’s hauntingly perfect.
The song is spot on for our world just now (sadly) and the vocals are glorious.
Jelly Roll has surprisingly become one of the hottest acts in Country music lately, and it’s well-deserved!
Let’s be honest, no one looks at Jelly Roll and says, “yo, that dude’s COUNTRY”. But thankfully, Country isn’t just about the look. It’s about the music and the stories and life behind it, and Jelly Roll has one of the best stories to tell. His song “Save Me” was already great, but add Lainey Wilson to it? Freaking stellar.
And they performed it on the “American Idol” finale last night with Oliver Steele, and crushed it.
It’s just such a good song with incredible vocals, and a theme that, sadly, many can relate to. Also, with it being “Mental Health Awareness Month” it’s definitely one I want to share.
By the way, Jelly Roll’s first full-length Country album “WHITSITT CHAPEL” comes out June 2nd.
