Travis Denning “Strawberry Wine and a Cheap Six Pack”

So, last weekend I saw Travis Denning live at Boot Barn Hall, and got to hang with him before the show. He’s really one of the coolest, most down to Earth guys you could meet, and he told me he was dropping a new single this morning. He asked me if I wanted to hear it, and of course I did! I mean, duh.

I fell in love with it in the first few beats. It’s called “Strawberry Wine and a Cheap Six Pack” and it’s the perfect Summer Country song!

It’s one of those songs that immediately takes me back to 2002.  Summer, beer, riding backroads and frat boys in baseball caps.  Bad decisions and great memories. Wait… that in itself could be a good Country song title, am I right?

Also, Morgan Wallen dropped his new album (36 songs. Woah!) today, and Travis co-wrote Track 5 on it called “Devil Don’t Know”.

Here it is being performed live last week:

Travis puts on one hell of a live show- check out this mash-up!

Yeah, I’m fangirling a bit. But I’ve been a fan since “David Ashley Parker From Powder Springs” and after last week’s show and a drink with Travis, I’m even more of a fan.

Luke Combs “Joe”

Luke Combs is on FIRE!

Yes, I know I share a lot of his music, but there’s good reason for that.

He’s got a new album coming out on March 24th called “Gettin’ Old” and he keeps releasing fan favorites that will be on the album. And he does NOT disappoint.  His new single “Joe” deals with addiction and overcoming substance abuse, and the daily struggle that so many people can relate to.

True Country Music right here.

It’s such a well-written song on a topic that so many deal with on a daily basis.  Luke has admitted that Country music is full of drinking and partying songs, but there are not many songs out there for those who are on the other end of the spectrum.  I think it’s great that Luke is shining a light on such a difficult topic, and in a genre full of “Let’s get drunk in my truck” songs, it’s good to hear another side of the story.

Luke is quickly becoming one of the most respected artists in Modern Country, and it’s not hard to see why.

I can’t wait for his new album! Again, March 24th is when you can check it out.

Dolly Parton and Olivia Newton-John “Jolene”

When I heard that Dolly Parton had recorded a duet with Olivia Newton-John covering her iconic “Jolene”, I immediately had to look it up and take a listen.

Ommggggg… weekend = MADE!

This duet is a part of Dolly’s upcoming Rock album which will featured collabs with everyone from Stevie Nicks to Steven Tyler to Steve Perry.

Needless to say, I’m just a little bit excited for it.

Once again, DOLLY FOR PRESIDENT!

Kelly Clarkson Covering Hank Jr’s “Family Tradition”

Kelly Clarkson is easily one of the best vocalists of our time, something she continues to prove on the daily with her “Kellyoke” segments on her show “The Kelly Clarkson Show”.

One of her latest cover song triumphs? Her version of Hank Williams Jr’s classic tune “Family Tradition”:

Dudeeee, she gave that song a whole new life!

I remember it being a karaoke staple when I was in my bar-hopping phase, but I have never heard it like this.

Can she just full-on crossover to Country now? I wouldn’t be mad at it.

Megan Moroney “I’m Not Pretty”

Megan Moroney got a lot of attention in the Country Music community recently with her song “Tennessee Orange”, which, let’s be honest, it’s perfect.  Anyone who is a college football fan can releate.  Well, she’s not wasting any time putting out new music (good!) and her new single “I’m Not Pretty” is catchy as hell.

How cute (and true!) is this?  It’s got a really fun and catchy sound, and in the age of social media, you know you have stalked your significant other’s ex or have been stalked yourself.  It’s a factual reflection on today’s society, and how catty women can be. You KNOW it’s true.

I think Megan might be here to stay.

Plus, we share a name and she spells it right, so bonus points to her!

Luke Combs “Love You Anyway” (Acoustic)

Let’s just be real here: Luke Combs is one of the best people to happen to Country Music.  He’s releasing a new song tomorrow called “Love You Anyway” (a fan favorite) and he just put out the acoustic version, and I’m calling it right now… this is going to be THE love song of 2023.

I’m going to go ahead and say that this is one of my favorites of his. So beautifully written, and I’m loving all the imagery in the song.  Well done, Luke!  This will be on his upcoming album “Gettin’ Old” which comes out on March 24th.

Get ready, you’ll be hearing this one at all the weddings.

Danielle Bradbery Interview

Ten years ago, Danielle Bradbery won “The Voice” and I remember watching the finale (my husband and I totally voted for her) and we had just fallen in love with the sweet 16-year-old aspiring Country singer.  Fast-forward a decade, and Danielle is back with a feisty new sound and look and I am totally here for it.

She was sweet enough to take a few minutes out of here day to chat with me this week about what she’s got happening in 2023.

And have you heard her new single “A Special Place”?

So much yes here.

I love it! Great sound and lyrics, and I think we all have a few people we’d like to send to that hotel, am I right?

Really looking forward to see what 2023 brings for Danielle. Such a talent, and just a sweet, down-to-Earth woman.

Dolly Parton “Don’t Make Me Have to Come Down There”

First off, today is Dolly Parton’s 77th Birthday!

All hail the QUEEN!

You seriously don’t get a better human than Dolly. I don’t think anyone can argue me this.

AND she celebrated her birthday by putting out a new song called “Don’t Make Me Have to Come Down There”!

How cool is that?  I love that Dolly can tackle a serious subject (Like us humans screwing everything up) with a dash of humor.

And yes, we are messing up big time across the board, and need to get to fixing it.  Dolly says so, and Dolly knows.

Can she run for president?  I mean, if Biden and Trump are running again… she’d win no contest.

Make it happen, Dolly!

Chase Rice “I Hate Cowboys”

Chase Rice released his new single “I Hate Cowboys” and I LOVE it!

Chase has mentioned in the past few months that he’s moving away from the “Bro-Country” sound (Thank God!) and is putting out the music that he actually wants to put out.  His new single “I Hate Cowboys” is definitely a winner.

Oh, and it’s co-written by HARDY, so you know it’s good stuff.

This song has me looking forward to his new album “I Hate Cowboys and All Dogs Go to Hell” which comes out February 10th.

Also, I love cowboys.  I’m married to a Cowboy/Soldier combo, and I highly reccomend it.

Elle King “Tulsa”

Elle King has gone Country, and I’m thinking it’s going to work out just fine…

If you recall, she burst onto the scene in the Mid-2010’s with “Exes and Ohs” (GREAT SONG) and has since had several chart-topping Country collabs with Miranda Lambert and Dierks Bentley. So, the obvious next move is to go full on Country, right?

Here’s her new single “Tulsa” and it’s not what you think it would be.

Yep, you can definitely tell she’s been hanging with Miranda.

And seriously, what woman hasn’t been in a Tulsa situation?

I can’t wait for Elle’s album “Come Get Your Wife”- love the title!- and it will be available on January 27th.

Fun Fact: Elle is actor Rob Schneider’s daughter!
