Morgan Wallen Debuts New Song at Ole Miss Concert

It looks like it’s going to take more than three Felony charges to slow Morgan Wallen down…

After getting arrested – again- this time for throwing a chair off of the rooftop Eric Church’s bar in downtown Nashville a couple of weeks ago, Morgan Wallen is back on the road, and really, not missing a beat.

He has since apologized, but it still remains to be seen if the charges will stick.

Really, Morgan is just a dumb drunk. That’s what it boils down to. A lot of Country stars have done waaaaayyyyy worse. But still, it was messed up, and I’m hoping he has learned his lesson.

Probably not.

But one can hope, right?

Anyhow, back to the music…

Morgan was at Ole Miss over the weekend, which is like Ground Zero for his fanbase, and he debuted a new song called “Lies Lies Lies” live and it sounds awesome:

@sadlergal @morganwallen teaching the SIP about LIES, LIES, LIES #morganwallen #fallinforwallen #gaht #2024 #onethingatatime #fypviral #fyp #fypage ♬ original sound – Kelly

Here’s another clip that I found on the interwebs:

Pretty dang good.

He’s got talent and songwriting skills for sure, and the controversy certainly hasn’t hurt him

Then again, P Diddy is being accused of WAY worse things, so maybe throwing bar furniture isn’t the worst thing?

Someone hire him some new handlers! Like, maybe put him on a leash like people do with toddlers…

In the meantime, the Morgan Wallen train shows no signs of slowing down.

Just watch out for flying chairs if you go.

Zac Brown Band Feat. Mac McAnally “Pirates and Parrots”

Last Fall, we lost the icon Jimmy Buffett, and since then, there have been so many fantastic tributes to the legend.

His music has touched so many lives over the decade, and his legacy will always go on.

The latest tribute that has me all in my feels is The Zac Brown Band’s “Pirates and Parrots” with Jimmy Buffett Coral Reefer bandmate and collaborator Mac McAnally:

Ok, I may have a little tear on my eye after that…

The Zac Brown Band have a busy year wih their joint tour with Kenny Chesney,

Full list of dates are at https://zacbrownband.com/
Bubbles up, ya’ll!

Taylor Swift “The Alchemy”

Taylor Swift’s highly anticipated new album “The Tortured Poets Department” is here, and Swifties are losing their damn minds.

First of all, it’s a surprise double album, as Taylor dropped an extra 15 songs at 2am, which is cool.

And naturally, there’s a song about curren beau Kansas City Tight End Travis Kelce on there (duh) called “The Alchemy”:

“Where’s the trophy? He just came running to me.”

Well done, Tay Tay.

Also, the lead single off of the album is “Fortnite” featuring Post Malone:

So, yeah, you’ll be hearing that ALL over the radio.

Now, I’m not what you would call a “Swiftie”, but I do respect and admire Taylor and what she has done in her career.  A lot of her music isn’t my cup of tea, but she does have some great songs that will forever have a spot on my permanent playlist (hello, “Wildest Dreams”!). I think Taylor is an incredibly impressive woman, and definitely a great role model.

So, play on Taylor, and keep kicking ass and taking names.

And bringing home them trophies!

Jelly Roll Debuts New Song at Grand Ole Opry

Jelly Roll is EVERYWHERE these days. On your radio, on your tv, and he’s basically taking over with his Country/Rock vibe and big (no pun intended) personality and amazing backstory.

He’s one of the few artists that gets regular airplay on Country, Rock, Top 40, and Adult Contemporary radio.

That in itself is a huge deal.

Well, last night, at The Grand Ole Opry, he debuted a new, unreleased song to see how it went over, and I have a feeling it’ll be on his next project.

Check out “Liar” below:

According to the fans’ reaction, it definitely has big hit potential.

Here’s a longer video if you want to full version courtesy of Whiskyriff.com: https://www.whiskeyriff.com/2024/04/16/jelly-roll-debuts-new-unreleased-song-liar-at-the-grand-ole-opry/
Jelly is on a roll (Yes, bad dad joke) and shows no signs of stopping.

ERNEST Featuring Lainey Wilson “I Would If I Could”

One of my favorite up-and-coming artists in Nahville is ERNEST.

He is incredibly talented as a singer and songwriter, and is funny as Hell.

Yesterday, he dropped a new album called “Nashville, TN’ which has 26 tracks, and a boatload of collabs with everyone from Morgan Wallen to HARDY to Lainey Wilson.

And let me tell you, the track with Lainey on it, called “I Woud if I Could” is what 90’s Country Dreams are made of:

How perfect is that? It sounds like it would have totally fit in on Country Radio in 1994, and that’s a beautiful thing.

I really hope Countey Music keeps trending in this direction. We have some really great artists in Nashville right now, and they are doing the damn thing!

Also, last year, I got a chance to chat with ERNEST and he’s the best:

That being said, here’s my interview with Lainey as well.
Because I have to flex:

Have I mentioned that I love my job?
Just a little?

Slash and Chris Stapleton Cover Fleetwood Mac’s “Oh Well”

Well, this was a pleasant surprise this morning.

Slash and Chris Stapleton just released a cover of Fleetwood Mac’s “Oh Well” and it’s absolutely killer.

I mean, really, how can you go wrong with Slash and Chris?

Simple. You can’t.

Seriously, how badass is that?

The collab is off of Slash’s new solo project “Orgy of the Damned” which comes out on May 17th.

So, basically, Slash shredding as he does, with dfferent vocalists on each song, like his last solo project.

Sounds pretty damn promising.

Also, Chris Stapleton will be the musical guest on “Saurday Night Live” tomorrow night, with Ryan Gosling as the host.

If they don’t do a version of “I’m Just Ken”, I’ll be sorely disappointed.

Carly Pearce “My Place”

Carly Pearce just released another beautiful break-up song… that’s kind of her thing, of course. Creating beauty out of pain.  If you’re a fan of hers, you know she’s in the aftermath of a divorce from fellow Country star Michael Ray, and she is ending that chapter with a new album called “hummingbird” due out later this Spring. And to get us ready for it, she released a new song off of it called “My Place”, which was written by Carly, Shane McAnally, and Josh Osbourne:

Yup, another winner from Carly.

Except I wouldn’t have left the good wine in his bar. Rookie mistake.

“hummingbird” drops June 14th, and Carly is currently on the road with Tim McGraw- get the dates at http://carlypearce.com

Post Malone Teases More New Music!

Post Malone is such a dang tease…

As we all know, he’s going Country (I mean, who isn’t these days?) but at least he’s been wanting to make the move for years- it’s not just because it’s the cool thing to do right now.

Anyhow, he’s been in Nashville working with some big names lik Morgan Wallen, ERNEST, Luke Combs and Billy Strings to name a few, and has been teasing us with clips of his new stuff on social media for weeks now.

His latest tease?

Here ya go:

Anyone else ready for the real thing?

I have to admit, I wasn’t a big Post Malone fan until a few years ago.

He has really impressed me lately with his talent, and his laid back attitude. He honestly seems like a super fun guy.

As per usual, stay tuned…

Beyonce and Miley Cyrus “II Most Wanted”

Beyonce released her new album “Renaissance Act II: Cowboy Carter” yesterday, and there are some pretty cool songs on there.

First, let me remind you that Beyonce isn’t “going Country”. She released a Country-ish album because she can. Just like how Dolly Paron released a “Rock” album last Fall. Because why the heck not?

And really, those who are making hateful comments… well, you’re just proving her point on how some close-minded Country fans can be. Not all, mind you. But a lot. Also, that negative attitude isn’t a good look, but hey, you do you.

That being said, this duet she released with Miley Cyrus called “II Most Wanted”, and it’s a really cool track:

First of all, I like that it’s a proper duet- not just a feature artist on a single line or verse.

Second, I love the feel of the song. And it reminds me of the relationship that I have with my husband of almost 17 years- I love being his shotgun rider through life, and this song makes me think of that.

It just has a cool, chill vibe, and I really enjoyed it.

That’s what music is about, right?

Something that you enjoy listening to and moves you.

Have a great weekend!

Beyonce “Jolene”

Beyonce’s highly anticipated “Renaissance Act II: Cowboy Carter” dropped this morning, and what I wanted o hear was her take on Dolly Parton’s iconic “Jolene”, and Beyonce delivered and then some.

She went a rewrote the song from a much stronger woman’s perspective- basically going from the plea “Please don’t take my man” to “Just you try, fool”.

Personally, I think it’s a really cool take on the song. I know Country traditionalists will be freaking out and saying “that ain’t Country” and blowing a total fuse when they hear it. I can feel the heads exploding over here.  But, let’s be honest, Dolly’s version, although a classic, is basically a woman begging another woman not to take her man. That’s dumb. First of all, her man should know better. Second of all, why beg a woman to stay away? You’re giving Jolene all the power. Tell that redheaded hussy to go ahead and try.

This is probably why I’m not a songwriter.

Just in case you need a refresher, here’s the original version:

And really, who is dumb enough to mess with Dolly?

Which version do you prefer?

Dolly’s classic, or Beyonce’s hot take?
