Simon and Garfunkel Take On “Baby Got Back”

Yayyyy! My favorite Youtube Channel “There I Ruined It” is back! They were banned for a few monhs on YouTube- some copyright thingy I think- but now it’s back, and gorgeously ruining songs again.

Like this version of “Baby Goy Back” in the style of Simon and Garfunkel

:

I’m not sure why I love these, but I do. And now this version will be stuck in my head for all eternity.

Seriously, if you need a good laugh, subscribe to https://www.youtube.com/@ThereIRuinedIt

You won’t be sad about it.

Bon Jovi “Legendary”

As a child of the 80’s and 90’s, naturally I’m a Bon Jovi fan. I mean, how can you NOT be? One of the greatest American Rock bands, and like many of them, they are still going strong.

This morning, I was pleasantly surprised to see not only a new song from the legendary band, but also an album announcement!

The new single “Legendary”, written by Jon Bon Jovi, Billy Falcon, and John Shanks, is basically a reflection of where Jon is in his life at 62.

He recently underwent surgery on his vocal chords, and during the break, he said he had time to re-evaluate his life, and recognize the things that really matter. And the song is a tribute to his wife Dorthea, who has been by his side since the beginning, hence the “Brown Eyed Girl” reference.

I love it! Just an overall happy song, and I am lucky to be able to relate, as I write this with my beautiful two-year old son stealing my phone and throwing it on the kithcen floor after sneezing on it, and my Husky snuggling my feet.

It’s the little things in life that matter.

We so often forget that.

Bon Jovi’s 16th studio album- and their first in four years- “Forever”- comes out on June 7th.

Luke Combs Teases New Song “The Man He Sees In Me”

Luke Combs is back in the studio working on his next project, and so far, it sounds like it’s going to be another Country Radio staple!

On New Year’s Eve, Luke posted a video of himself in his living room playing an acoustic song called “The Man He Sees in Me”.

Well… he just released what sounds like a recorded snippet of the song on social media, and I think it’s another hit in the making:

Soooo good.

I am loving Luke’s “Dad Era”.

It makes sense, as he and his wife Nicole have boys two under two! (Bless them)

I’ll keep you posted on what’s to come!

Tenacious D “Baby, One More Time”

Not gonna lie… I’ve been waiting for this all week!

Jack Black and Kyle Gass AKA Tenacious D had been teasing a cover of Britney Spears’s breakout hit “Baby, One More Time” on TikTok this week, and it went viral, because, I mean… how could it not?

Well, in honor of the “Kung Fu Panda 4” movie hitting theaters today (starring Jack Black) the full cover was released, and it’s perfection.

Also, peep Bryan Cranston and Dustin Hoffman in the video:

I feel like I needed this after this week.

Cody Johnson and Jelly Roll “Whiskey Bent” Live at Houston Rodeo!

A few months ago, Cody Johnson and Jelly Roll released a really good collab called “Whiskey Bent”, and if you haven’t heard it yet, then here ya go:

Pretty good, right?

Well, Jelly Roll had a surprise for the sold out Houston Rodeo this week- he brought out Cody Johnson to the stage to perform the collab live for the first time!

What a cool surprise for the crowd.  And what a great song!

I’m honestly all for the collabs that are populating Country Music. Some really good songs are coming from these surprising combos.

Both Cody and Jelly are on the road (separately, of course) this year.

What Country stars would you like to see team up in the future?

New Kids on the Block “Kids”

Ahhhhh!  My childhood heart is so happy!

New Kids on the Block just announced their first new album in 11 years called “Still Kids” AND released the first single off of it called “Kids” and it’s seriously so much fun:

LOOOVVVEEEE!

So much nostalgia here. And as a 41-year old woman who is still, indeed, a kid, I totally relate!

I was obsessed with these guys as a kiddo. I had the bed sheets, the Donny Wahlberg keychain, the shirts… all the cheesy things!

Oh, and let’s not forget this glorious dance that I couldn’t stop doing in the first grade:

Reminds me of the skate nights in elementary school. Man, growing up in the late eighties/early nineties was THE BEST!!!!

“Still Kids” drops May 17th, and I hear a tour will follow?

You know I’ll keep ye posted.

Lainey Wilson and Kelly Clarkson “Country’s Cool Again”

Ya’ll know I love me some Lainey Wilson AND I’m all about some Kelly Clarkson “Kellyoke”, so naturally, I was pretty dang stoked to see THIS happen:

ALLLLL the YES right there!

Lainey was a guest on the “Kelly Clarkson Show” this week, and it was just as fun as you’d expect.

Ok, I really want to hang out with these ladies and have a drink or three with them.  They seem like my kind of people!

Also, Lainey is poised for another massive 2024, with her tour and a possibly some new music! Stay tuned…

Also, get her dates at http://LaineyWilson.com

2024 has been pretty dang great musically so far, don’t you think?

Kacey Musgraves on”Saturday Night Live”

Last night, Kacey Musgraves was the Musical Guest on “Saturday Night Live” ahead the release of her new album “Deeper Well”, and of course, she owned it:

Here’s her performance of the title track “Deeper Well”:

And her latest single “Too Good to Be True”:

Kacey is always simplistic perfection with her music and her live performances. There’s something almost hypnotic about her voice, and her overall aura. I’ve never understood why she never got as much airplay as say… Carrie Underwood or Kelsea Ballerini in Country radio. I’ve always advocated for her, and I remember playing the fire out of “Merry Go Round”, “Follow Your Arrow” and “Blowin’ Smoke”, but for some reason they never hit the top of the charts.  Not that it matters… Kacey has proven that she doesn’t need twenty number one hits to be a staple.  I mean, Florida-Georgia Line had a ton of #1 songs, and let’s be real, they’re weren’t a patch on Kacey’s artistry and talent.  Kacey has stood her ground, and has the career longevity (and Grammys!) to prove it.

I’m excited for her next chapter, in which she returns to her Country roots. Her album “Deeper Well” drops March 15th.

She also announced her “Deeper Well” world our, and those dates are up at http://kaceymusgraves.com

And just for a throwback, here’s where a lot of Country fans discovered Kacey’s pure vocals:

Also, Granger Smith and his wife Amber play the couple in the video, and I am getting all the feels from that.

13 years ago. Whattttt?

Kelly Clarkson Covers Tiffany “I Think We’re Alone Now”

Kelly Clarkson knocks it out of the vocal ballpark again!

First off, thank you to Tony Page Jr. for sending this to me via Facebook- he knows I’m always down for some Kellyoke action.

I always Love , Love, LOVE 80’s music, so when you put the two together, it’s an automatic win.

Check out her cover of Tiffany’s 1987 smash  “I Think We’re Alone Now” :

Ok, Kelly just nailed that one. And her band is fantastic. That drummer, though. He killed it!

What song would you like to see Kelly cover?

Miley Cyrus/Pharrell Williams “Doctor (Work it Out)”

Miley Cyrus has teamed back up with Pharrell Williams for a poppin’ new rack called “Doctor (Work it Out) and it’s fun as hell.

The track was originally supposed to be on Miley’s 2013 album “Bangerz”, but was scrapped from the project. Over a decade later, here it is, and I’m sure you’ll be hearing it A LOT in 2024.

Ok, so not the most brilliant lyrics, but I’m pretty sure that’s not the point of this song.

It’s fun, catchy, and has a great beat (because Pharrell) and I’ve been singing it all morning.

That’s a good sign.

Also, Miley giving Barbarella/Tina Turner vibes is my favorite version of her.

Years ago, she merely annoyed me, but she has totally proven herself as an artist, and is now one of my favorites. She’s been through a lot, and has come through slaying.

GO MILEY!
