Jason Aldean “Try That in a Small Town”

Jason Aldean just put out a new single, “Try That in a Small Town”, and I have a feeling it’s his next #1 hit.  Because it’s Jason Aldean, and no matter how generic a song is, if he sings it, it’s an automatic #1 at Country Radio (he and Luke Bryan have this in common), and also, because the content speaks to a majority of the Country demographic.  Having grown up in a small town (Henderson, TN- look it up, ya’ll), it spoke to me as well.  My husband and I both hail from small West Tennessee towns, and this song is spot on.  And honestly? It’s not a bad thing.  Life truly is different in the Country, and I really can’t wait to return one day. Don’t get me wrong, it’s been great to live in all kinds of parts of the US, and experience different ways to live, but small-town life on the farm will always be where my heart lies.

And good luck taking anyone’s guns in a small town.  Especially my husband’s!

Yep, small town life truly is different, and again, not a bad thing.  A lot of my “City Friends” hate on the lifestyle, but until you have truly lived it and experienced it, don’t judge, ok?

Except for mudding. I still can’t figure out why people think that’s fun?

Foo Fighters “Under You”

Have I mentioned that I love the Foo Fighters? Maybe a thousand times?

Well, they just dropped a new song called “Under You” and it is a perfect tribute to the late Taylor Hawkins.

Sentimental, lyrically on-point, and with the signature Foo sound that has made the band a staple for decades.

“Someone said I’ll never see your face again
Part of me just can’t believe it’s true
Pictures of us sharing songs and cigarettes
This is how I’ll always picture you”

Those lyrics just hit hard.

The Foo Fighters will release their new album- their first studio effort without Taylor- on June 2nd.

Bittersweet for sure, but I’m happy they are continuing as a band, and using music to heal.

After all, it’s the best medicine there is!

Ed Sheeran and Luke Combs ACM Performance

The 2023 ACM Awards were last night in Texas, and as per usual, the live performances did NOT disappoint!

(Also, I enjoyed watching it on Prime- way less commercials, and it only took a couple of hours, which is perfect for my short attention span)

Here’s one of my favorite performances of the night:

Ed Sheeran and Luke Combs “Life Goes On”

Ed and Luke together?

YASSSSSSSS. So much talent on that stage.

And Ed did say this week that he would love to transition to Country music, so we shall see…

Here’s the rcorded version that just dropped this morning:

So, soooo good.

I’m totally down for Ed on Country radio.

What do you think?

Top Country Wedding Songs

It’s offically Wedding Season! According to TheKnot.com, a majority of weddings in Amercia happen between May and November.  My family owns a wedding venue in West Tennessee (look it up- Cogan’s Farm- it’s AMAZING!) and I help out as much as I can, so I always have a keen interest in pretty much everything wedding-related.

One of the biggest wedding traditions is the “First Dance”, and picking a song that reflects your relationship is kind of a big deal, right?

TasteofCountry.com just released a list of the Top Country Wedding Dance Songs, so here’s the Top 10, if you’re looking for some wedding dance inspo.

3.  “In Case You Didn’t Know” by Brett Young

And if you want to expand your genres outside of Country Music, here’s a pretty solid list from “Country Living” magazine.

Want to rock it out?  Here’s some great choices from Wedding Forward.

My husband and I said “I Do” sixteen years ago, and our first dance song was “Memory in the Making” by John Kilzer.

So, yeah, points for being unique!

What was your first dance song?

Or if you’re not married just yet, what would it be?

Bebe Rexha feat. Dolly Parton “Seasons”

Bebe Rexha just released her new album “Bebe” today, and it features a collaboration with the iconic Dolly Parton (who seems to be working with EVERYONE except Mick Jagger these days…), and you know what? It’s pretty good!

Check out “Seasons” below:

I really enjoyed that! I’m so used to Bebe’s over-produced pop songs which dominate Top 40 radio, so it was nice to hear a different side and really get to appreciate her vocals. They blend perfectly with Dolly’s legendary voice.

Also, that’s a lot of blonde and boobs in the video.

I don’t think anyone is mad at it.

Again, Bebe’s new album is out today, and I hope she puts out more songs like this!

“Part of Your World” From “The Little Mermaid”

There’s been a lot of controversy surrounding the remake of  Disney’s “The Little Mermaid”, mainly because Ariel is African-American (Who the heck cares? I mean, she’s a cartoon mermaid. Get over yourself) and now because the characters like “Flounder” and “Sebastian” look a little creepy as “live action” characters.  Seriously? This is what bothers people?

I guess I’m too busy having a life to get riled up by such trivial matters.

Anyhow, the remake of the Disney classic “Part of Your World” was just released, and holy smokeronies is it good!

Halle Bailey’s vocals are perfection, and that’s a huge part of the role. “Ariel” is known for her stunning voice (NOT for being Caucasian) and Halle just showed everyone why she was chosen for the role.

I absolutely loved this movie as a kid. As an adult, I’m just not a fan of the theme. Why, yes, change for your man!  And of course, Eric is into a hot chick who can’t talk. Isn’t that every man’s fantasy?

That being said, my main issue with the movie is Ariel wanting to be human. Girl, NO! Humans are nuts. Stay in the sea. Trust me on this!

But the little kid in me is totally here for the live-action remake.

Disney’s “The Little Mermaid” hits theaters May 26th.

Luke Grimes “Hold On”

Anyone else totally loving Luke Grimes’s new music?

At first when the “Yellowstone” actor (he portrays Kayce Dutton on the show) announced that he was going to try and become a Country singer, I admit, I rolled my eyes a little. Because what actor/actress doesn’t want to be a singer, and vice versa?

But I gave his first single, “No Horse to Ride” a listen, and was impressed.  And he just dropped this new song called “Hold On” and once again, it’s real Country music, and definitely has a cool sound to it.

Yep, another song that would totally fit with the “Yellowstone” soundtrack.

That is, if they ever freaking finish up Season 5! (What the hell, guys???)

In the meantime, Luke Grimes is popping out some great Country tunes, and I’m for sure looking forward to his debut album.

Stay tuned for more info!

New Foo Fighters!!!!!

I absolutlely LOVE the Foo Fighters, and have since I discovered them on MTV when I was 12.  Like most music fans, I was shocked and saddened by the loss of the iconic Taylor Hawkins last year, and the future of the Foos was a giant question mark, and rightfully so.

Well, Foo Fighters will press on with a new album “But Here We Are” which is slated for a June 2nd release.

Off of it, the lead single- and the first without Taylor (sigh) “Rescued”:

The Foos never, ever disappoint.  They always make fresh music, that still is essentially them.  They have said they will be a different band going forward without Taylor (obviously) but I love that they are staying strong, pressing on, and keeping Rock alive.

Mad respect.

Also, Dave Grohl for President!
