Geroge Strait “Cowboys and Dreamers”

Happy Friday!

What makes Friday EVEN better?

New George Strait!

The KING of Country Music released his 28th Studio album called “Cowboys and Dreamers” and of course, it’s pure Country Gold.

First off the title track- “Cowboys and Dreamers” is perfect:

BUT there’s also a collab with Chris Stapleton on there called “Honky Tonk Hall of Fame”, and really… you can’t go wrong when you combine those two:

“Honky Tonk Hall of Fame” reminds me of the early 80’s Country- just fun and rowdy- and again, add Chris Stapleton to the legend that is George Strait, and again- pure Country perfection!

I’m just happy it’s still a thing.

The Billboard 2024 Songs of the Summer

And just like that, Summer is almost over.

Good.

I’m a Fall/Winter girl all the way.

That being said, Billboard just released their annual “Songs of the Summer” list, and here’s the Top 10:

.  “I Had Some Help”,  Post Malone and Morgan Wallen:

You know it’s catchy as all get out.

And this is the second Summer in a row that Morgan Wallen had the Billboard Song of the Summer. He was #1 last year, too, with his smash “Last Night”.

This makes him the first artist since 1978 to make that happen. Andy Gibb was the last artist to do it with “I Just Want to Be Your Everything” and “Shadow Dancing”.

Impressive, no?

2.  “A Bar Song (Tipsy)”,  Shaboozey:

Shaboozey could actually have the Song of the Year with “Tipsy”, as it just clocked it’s 8th week at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Again, catchy as hell, and has been living rent-free in my head all Summer.

3.  “Not Like Us”,  Kendrick Lamar

Easily the Hip Hop song of the Summer. If I still went clubbing like I did two decades ago. I’d have been all about it.

It’s now on my workout playlist, because I’m old.

4.  “Espresso”,  Sabrina Carpenter

What a Summer Sabrina Carpenter has had. She has two songs on the Billboard Songs of the Summer chart, and now has the #1 album with “Short N’ Sweet” and I absolutely adore her and her sound.

5.  “Million Dollar Baby”,  Tommy Richman:

Call me crazy, but I’m thinking “One Hit Wonder” with this one. I mean, I may be wrong, but right now that’s how I’m feeling.

Still, super fun song, though.

6.  “Please Please Please”,  Sabrina Carpenter:

Again, Sabrina is killing it.

7.  “Too Sweet” Hozier:

I remember when Hozier had a hit with “Take Me to Church” years ago. But “Too Sweet” has become his first actual #1 this Summer.

8.  “Lose Control”,  Teddy Swims

Hot damn, Teddy Swims is amazing. He’ll be around for awhile, as he totally should be. Definitely on of my favorite newer artists on the scene.

9.  “Birds of a Feather”,  Billie Eilish:

This is definitely my favorite from Billie so far… it really shows off her voice, which is incredible. My only complaint is the lyrics… rot, casket… ew. I have an overactive imagination, and this triggers it. Overall, good song, though!

10.  “Beautiful Things”,  Benson Boone:

This may be my favorite song of the year, actually.

It reminds me of all the beautiful things in my life, and to not take them for granted.

Really loving Benson Boone as an artist, and can’t wait to see where he goes.

And that’s a wrap on the Billboard Songs of the Summer for 2024.

11 Year-Old Girl SLAYS Metallica On “America’s Got Talent”

Holy Freaking Prodigy.

Last week, 11 year-old Maya Neelakatantan took to the “America’s Got Talent” Stage and totally owned her version of Metallica’s “Master of Puppets” on the electric guitar.

Such an unexpected- and totally badass- performance!

She’s 11.

That’s it. 11.

I’m 41 and can maybe bust out 3 chords on my guitars.

What’s really cool is, this is the first time that Metallica gave permission for one of their songs to be performed on a reality TV singing competition.

I don’t think they could have granted that right to a better contestant.

80,000 Oklahoma Fans Honor the Late Great Toby Keith at Home Opener!

What a great way to honor a Country Legend.

Last night, at Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium, The Sooners not only beat the pants off of Temple, but over 80,000 fans honored longtime Sooners fan Toby Keith- who passed away in February- by singing “Courtesy of the Red, White & Blue”.

Not gonna lie, it brought a tear to my eye:

Dammnnn…

What a great way to honor the Big Dog Daddy!

This will be happening all season, as Toby’s biggest hits will be played in his honor between the 3rd and 4th Quarters of each home game this season.

As they should be.

You know Toby is in Heaven right now, holding a red solo cup and grinning like crazy.

“Yellowstone” Season 5 Part 2 Teaser Trailer!

FINALLY, we’re being thrown a bone over here.

“Yellowstone” just released their first teaser trailer for the second half of Season 2, which I feel like we’ve been waiting three decades for, and it looks like it will be worth the wait:

Oooooooohhhh…

Looks like Beth is about to be throwing down big time, and I seriously can’t wait.

Who will win in the end?

Any theories?

“Yellowstone” Season 5: Part 2 will start November 10th on Paramount.

FINALLY>

Ella Langley Feat. Riley Green “You Look Like You Love Me” Video

Ella Langley is one of the ones to watch in Country Music, and this music video for her song with Riley Green “You Look Like You Love Me” will just solidify her in the industry.

First of all, I love the song- it’s pure Classic Country- and the video is perfect:

Does anyone alse think Riley Green needs to be a character on “Yellowstone”, or at least on a spinoff?

He’s totally giving off Spencer Dutton vibes.

“You Look Like You Love Me” is easily one of my favorite Country songs of the year so far, and I have a strong feeling you’ll hear a lot more from Ella Langley in the future.

Anyone else super happy that the Classic Country sound is making a comeback?

It’s a beautiful thing.

Carrie Underwood Covers “A Little Less Talk” at Toby Keith Trubute

Last night, the “Toby Keith: American Icon” tribute aired on NBC, which, of course, honored the late, great Toby Keith who lost his battle with stomache cancer earlier this year.

Country Music’s biggest stars all came out to perform and pay tribute the Country legend, and Carrie Underwood’s version of “A Little Less Talk” and freaking slayed it.

I have to say, I wasn’t sure what to expect when I heard that that was the song Carrie was going to perform, but she nailed it. Her voice is so spectaculary spot on, and really, it sounds like it’s her own song.

Maybe she should release it as a single?

Seriously impressed by her version.

Also, another Toby Keith Greatest Hits Collection is coming, too, so stay tuned!

Motley Crue “Fight For Your Right”

Motley Crue just released a new song with John 5 on guitar- and it’s a cover of the Beastie Boys classic “Fight For Your Right:.

I mean, it’s not the original, but it’s fun, high energy, and I have to say, I am really loving John 5’s guitar on this song. It really gives it one hell of a kick:

Not too shabby.

I bet it’s fun live, if Vince can handle the live vocals.

The cover is off of their upcoming EP “Cancelled” which comes out on October 3rd.

I’ve always been a Crue fan, and an 80’s Hair Metal fan as well, so I’m always happy to hear new stuff from them.

Honestly? I’m still shocked that they’re all still alive.

I mean, you read “The Dirt”, right?

Sabrina Carpenter “Taste”

There’s so much new music out this weekend!

That’s not a bad thing whatsoever.

One of my favorite current Pop artists Sabrina Carpenter released her sixth studio album “Short n’ Sweet” yesterday, and there are some really fun, well done songs on the album, like this one called “Taste”- and bonus: the music video stars Jenna Ortega!

Ok, the video is a lot, but still, entertaining, and I’m loving the song.

Another few standouts on the album for me are “Lie To Girls”:

I’m also loving “Dumb and Poetic”:

In all. it’s a banner Pop album, and is likely to be one of the biggest of the year. Sabrina already has two hit singles on the album with “Please, Please, Please” and of course, “Espresso”, and I’m sure there will be a few more off of it.

I love her unique, infectuous Pop sound, and some pretty great lyrics as well.

Also, every single song she has is catchy as all get out. I still have “Espresso” living rent-free in my head from earlier this year.

She will be heading out on tour this Fall/Winter, and you get get dates and more info at https://www.sabrinacarpenter.com/

Honestly, I feel like 2024 has been a pretty great year for music, and we’re just over halfway into it. Let’s keep that mometnum going!
