Dustin Lynch Feat. Jelly Roll “Chevrolet”

Jelly Roll is collabing with everyone and their Grandma these days.

Seriously, though, I’m not mad at it.

His latest collab is with Country singer Dustin Lynch, on a song called “Chevrolet”. It’s basically Dobie Gray’s “Drift Away”, but with a truck.

Catchy, and definitely something I can hear on Country Radio as a single. Bascially, easy tailgate listening.  That should be a Country sub-genre in itself, right?

To be fair, though, I prefer Fords to Chevys, unless it’s a Corvette. But to each their own.

Dustin Lynch’s new album “Killed The Cowboy” comes out September 29th.

Brothers Osbourne Feat. Miranda Lambert “We Ain’t Good At Breaking Up”

It’s been a big day for new music!

The Brothers Osbourne just released their self-titled fourth studio album, and on it, a collab with Miranda Lambert (who I love!) is on it.

It’s a song they co-wrote called “We Ain’t Good at Breaking Up”, and of course, it’s a jam.

I love the sound and groove of the song, and adding Miranda into anything is an instant win.

We’re just getting started on a big Fall season for Country music, so basically, start saving your money!

Here’s a list of all the new Country albums out today:

• Bigger HousesDan + Shay.  This is their fifth album.  Their “Heartbreak on the Map” tour kicks off in February, with Ben Rector and Hailey Whitters.

• Brothers OsborneBrothers Osborne.

• BluegrassWillie Nelson.  This is his 74th SOLO studio album, and 151st album.  It features bluegrass versions of 12 of his own classics.

• Side Effects of the HeartAlex Hall.  This is his debut album.  Brandy Clark joins him on the track, “Women and Horses”.

• Keep It RealTyler Booth.  This is a six-song EP.

• Son Of DadStephen Wilson Jr.  This is his major label debut.  Hailey Whitters guests on the song “American Gothic”.

Yeah, and as I said, we’re just getting started.

Buckle up, Buttercup!

New Maren Morris Dropped Today!

I’ve enjoyed Maren Morris’s music since the first time I heard “My Church”. My husband and I were driving from Tennessee to Kansas in 2015 I believe… and we heard “My Church” for the first time and we both were like, “YESSS!” I knew it would be a hit, and I was excited for the fresh voice and sound in Country Music.  Maren would then embark on a solid Country career, and crossover with some Pop hits as well with “The Middle” and “The Bones”.

However, once 2020 and the Pandemic hit, Maren’s political differences with the majority of Country artists and fans started creating a bit of a riff.

Now, I am all for inclusion, and for different points of view.  I think perhaps Maren might have come on a little too strong with her opinions for a more conservative fan base.  I follow her on socials, and dammmnnn, she can really attack other artists and viewpoints that differ from her own. I know that’s her style, but it definitely didn’t help her career in Country Music. I’m not saying that she’s wrong, buttttt… there were probably kinder ways to handle things. (Dolly Parton always comes to mind when I think of someone who handles situations gracefully)

That being said, Maren does stay true to herself and her beliefs, and I do respect that.

I also respect her as an artist and a songwriter, and she is truly talented. I’ve seen her and her husband Ryan Hurd live before, and they are both incredible.

Maren has been working on a new album, and she released a two song EP this morning called “The Bridge” , and I’m thinking this may be her goodbye to the genre. Here’s what she posted on instagram: “As I’ve been working on my record non-stop this year, I realized these two songs deserved a moment of their own – a story in their own right, written a day apart from each other – a tender duo and bridge to my next album. I welcome, celebrate and grieve the changes that have happened these last few years and these two songs say it better than I ever could in a caption or interview….hope you enjoy these. ‘Wherever I’m going, I hope I’m not the only one.‘”

Take a listen:

“Get the Hell Outta Here”:

“The Tree”:

Listening to the songs, I’m thinking she’s making a not-so-subtle announcement.

Both songs, however, are vocally and lyrically on-point, and could also be relateable to anyone in tough situation- be it romantic, professional, or just a friendship that has run its course.

Well done, Maren.

Also, I’m happy to not only hear more of her original sound with these songs, but also her original look. She went a little hard on the injections, fillers, and extensions for a while. She’s so naturally pretty, and I’m happy to see she’s embracing that again as well.

And whatever path she takes, I wish her all the best. If she’s truly unhappy and uncomfortable in the Country genre, then she is right to move on. I know that with her talent, she’ll do well wherever she goes.

What do you think of Maren’s new songs? Do you think it’s a farewell to Country Music? Or at least Nashville?

The NEW ESPN College GameDay Theme Song

College Football Season is HERE!!!!

Can I get an AMEN?

Which basically means Fall is here, and I’m beyond ready.

A few weeks ago, it was announced that Big & Rich would no longer be singing ESPN College Gameday’s opening song “Comin’ to Your City”- which was the theme for 16 years. Well, the replacement theme song has just been released, and it’s basically an updated version of “Comin’ to Your City” with The Cadillac Three, Lainey Wilson, and Darius Rucker, and it’s perfect.

Also, I just love Lainey Wilson.

Here’s the OG version by Big & Rich:

So, basically, just a super fun, freshened up version. I’m here for it!

ESPN College Gameday starts at 11:30AM ET tomorrow, and Darius Rucker will be the guest picker for the “Battle of the Carolinas” matchup.

Fall is here, ya’ll!!!!

Well, not technically, but College football and hunting season (Dove) started yesterday, so that’s good enough for me!

Cody Johnson “The Painter”

Ahhhh! I am SO excited for this!

Cody Johnson just released his new single “The Painter”- he’s been teasing it for a few weeks now, and it’s just as good as I had hoped it would be.

A perfect Country love song. Great lyrics, music, and just overall a total YES!

I can see this being a big wedding song this next year.

I’m so happy that we have artists like Cody Johnson doing big things in the industry. It was so needed.

Cody has a new DOUBLE (yay!) album called “Leather” out this Fall.

In case you didn’t realize, Cody is the real deal.

Here’s a clip of him getting hung up while Bull Riding a while back.

Yep. CoJo is pretty damn legit.  I’m so glad he’s killing it on the Country Music scene. We need him.

Lainey Wilson and Deana Carter “Watermelon Moonshine”

If you’re a Country music fan, you’re propbably well aware of the fact that Lainey Wilson has one of the biggest Country songs of the Summer with “Watermelon Moonshine”, which from the first time I heard it, I was like, “Strawberry Wine” much?

Clearly, I’m not the only one who noticed the similarities… Deana Carter herself (the artist behind the masterpeice that is “Strawberry Wine”) just covered Lainey on TikTok and Lainey stitched for a duet.

I don’t know why seeing this made my Country girl heart happy, but it totally did.

Can we get a collab in real life, pretty please?

Chris Stapleton “White Horse”

It’s a Happy Friday Indeed!

Not only do my husband and I celebrate our 16th anniversary, but also Chris Stapleton just dropped a new single. So, yeah, good things all around!

The new song “White Horse” rocks pretty hard, and you cannot go wrong with Chris’s incredible vocals that marry Country and Rock and Blues together.  I’ve already listened to this five times this morning.

Holy smokeronis, right? All of it. YES to ALL OF IT!

I’ve always enjoyed Chris on higher tempo, rock-inspired songs. His voice just kills on those. Well, his voice kills on everything, but yeah. You know what I mean.

And even better?

Chris announced his fifth studio album “Higher” and that will be dropping November 10th.

Happy Friday!!!!

Lainey Wilson, Elle King and Tanya Tanya Tucker “Texas (When I Die)”

CMA Fest 2023 took place last month in Nashville- have you ever been? Omg. It’s a Country fan’s dream. So many incredible performances from the best in the industry, and the highlights always air later in the Summer on ABC.  Well, they had their CMA Fest Special last night hosted by Dierks Bentley, Lainey Wilson and Elle King, and one of my favorite performances involves two of the hosts, and the “Mother Trucker” herself Tanya Tucker on one of her classics “Texas (When I Die)”

Tanya still has it!!!

And damn, Lainey and Elle do, too.  This new generation of women in Country is straight fire.

Keep on breaking up the sausage party that is Country music!!!

Hailey Whitters “I’m In Love”

One of my favorite newer artists on the Country scene is Hailey Whitters. She’s like Miranda Lambert 2.0- talented, sassy, and the real Country deal. (Fun fact: She was actually Miranda’s body double in her “Fastest Girl In Town” music video)

Hailey had a hit this year already with “Everything She Ain’t” and she just announced a new EP called “I’m In Love” and I’m in love with the title track.

Isn’t that the cutest?

Simple, pure, fun Country.  I love the deer in a rut reference… any Country girl can relate!

I love that Hailey doesn’t sound like anyone else on the radio, and she is the “real deal”.  Iowa born and raised, and a self proclaimed “Corn Star”- I’m here for everything she’s putting out!

She even did a keg stand at her wedding recently. So, basically, my kind of woman!

Her new EP “I’m in Love” comes out July 28th.
