The Top Selling Country Albums of All Time

As a longtime Country Music fan, I thought this was kind of interesting.

Have you ever wondered what Country artist sold the most albums to date?

Not a shocker, many in the Top 10 are 90’s Country artists, when CDs were in their heyday.

Remember buying an entire CD, and paying almost $20 just for a song or two?

Good times.

It WAS great for the record business, though, as evidenced below.

Here are the top ten selling country music albums of all-time, according to RIAA’s album sales:

1.  “Double Live” by Garth Brooks

Released: November 1998

Certified U.S. sales: 23 million

I still have this CD set somewhere. It’s freaking awesome to this day.

2.  “Come on Over” by Shania Twain

Released: November 1997

Certified U.S. sales: 20 million

Again, another classic. One of my favorites during my Senior year in High School.

3.  “No Fences” by Garth Brooks

Released: August 1990

Certified U.S. sales: 18 million

One word: ICONIC

4.  “Ropin’ the Wind” by Garth Brooks

Released: September 1991

Certified U.S. sales: 14 million

Two words: Game Changer

Also, I want that shirt.

5.  “Wide Open Spaces” by Dixie Chicks

Released: January 1998

Certified U.S. sales: 13 million

Let’s be real. They were damn good. A lot of people hate on them, bu their old stuff is pretty dang legit.

6.  “The Woman in Me” by Shania Twain

Released: February 1995

Certified U.S. sales: 12 million

This was a life changer for me.

7.  “Kenny Rogers’ Greatest Hits” by Kenny Rogers

Released: October 1990

Certified U.S. sales: 12 million

To everyone hating on Pop stars going Country… Kenny Rogers started out as a Pop Artist, so, your argument is invalid.

8.  “Fly” by Dixie Chicks

Released: August 1999

Certified U.S. sales: 11 million

9.  “Up!” by Shania Twain

Released: November 2002

Certified U.S. sales: 11 million

Another High School staple for every small-town girl

#QUEEN

10.  “Fearless” by Taylor Swift

Released: November 2008

Certified U.S. sales: 10 million

Imma be honest… I prefer Pop Taylor to Country Taylor.

I know, hate me all you want.

Morgan Wallen Teases New Music!

As you may know, Morgan Wallen is back in the studio after a banger of a 2023. His album “One Thing at a Time” owned the 2023 Billboard Album Chart, and “Last Night” was the #1 song of 2023 in ALL genres. Not even Taylor Swift pulled that feat off.

So, it’s safe to say that a lot is riding on this next album. His last two have dominated, and he’s giving us a little taste of what he’s workig on.

Here’s a snippet of a song called “Redneck”:

Kind of cool. I don’t see it becoming a massive crossover hit like “Last Night”, but I know his fans will dig it.

Not only is Morgan working on new music, but he’s also hitting the road again in a major way this year.

Kacey Musgraves “The Architect”

In case you missed it, Kacey Musgraves released a gorgeous new album celled “Deeper Well” this past Friday, and thankfully is getting back to those Country roots. It was just announced that her song “The Architect” will b the next single released to Country Radio, and all I can say is, they better dang play it.

How beautiful is that?

Pure, simple. deep and just absolutely perfect.  I’m definitely going to push for this one.  Plus, Kacey is just an amazing artist all-around, no matter what genre she identifies as, but I for one, am so glad she’s back where she started.

Chck out her new album when you get the chance, and get info, mrch, tour dates, all the things at http://kaceymusgraves.com

Luke Combs Teases New Song “The Man He Sees In Me”

Luke Combs is back in the studio working on his next project, and so far, it sounds like it’s going to be another Country Radio staple!

On New Year’s Eve, Luke posted a video of himself in his living room playing an acoustic song called “The Man He Sees in Me”.

Well… he just released what sounds like a recorded snippet of the song on social media, and I think it’s another hit in the making:

Post Malone Performs “As Good as I Once Was” at The American Rodeo

Ever since the Country Music legend Toby Keith passed away on February 5th due to Stomach Cancer, there have been so many amazing tributes in his honor.

The latest? Post Malone.

He was in Dallas this weekend at The American Rodeo, and did a pretty solid version of Toby Keith’s “As Good as I Once Was”:

Not too shabby, right?

In case you want to enjoy the original again, here ya go:

That there, my friends, is the official Middle Age theme song.

We miss you, Toby!

And stay tuned for more Country Posty in the future. I think this is gonna be good!

Cody Johnson and Jelly Roll “Whiskey Bent” Live at Houston Rodeo!

A few months ago, Cody Johnson and Jelly Roll released a really good collab called “Whiskey Bent”, and if you haven’t heard it yet, then here ya go:

Pretty good, right?

Well, Jelly Roll had a surprise for the sold out Houston Rodeo this week- he brought out Cody Johnson to the stage to perform the collab live for the first time!

What a cool surprise for the crowd.  And what a great song!

I’m honestly all for the collabs that are populating Country Music. Some really good songs are coming from these surprising combos.

Both Cody and Jelly are on the road (separately, of course) this year.

Get the dates at http://codyjohnson.com and http://jellyroll.com

What Country stars would you like to see team up in the future?

Lainey Wilson and Kelly Clarkson “Country’s Cool Again”

Ya’ll know I love me some Lainey Wilson AND I’m all about some Kelly Clarkson “Kellyoke”, so naturally, I was pretty dang stoked to see THIS happen:

ALLLLL the YES right there!

Lainey was a guest on the “Kelly Clarkson Show” this week, and it was just as fun as you’d expect.

Ok, I really want to hang out with these ladies and have a drink or three with them.  They seem like my kind of people!

Also, Lainey is poised for another massive 2024, with her tour and a possibly some new music! Stay tuned…

Also, get her dates at http://LaineyWilson.com

2024 has been pretty dang great musically so far, don’t you think?

New Morgan Wallen “Lies, Lies, Lies”

Morgan Wallen is easily one of the biggest stars on the radio right now- not just in Country, but in Pop as well. His latest album “One Thing at a Time” was released a year ago, and it was the biggest selling album of 2023, and solidified his superstardom.

So, to celebrate such a momentous occasion, Morgan Wallen released a 7 song project called “Abbey Road Sessions” recorded last Fall at the iconic Abbey Road Studios in London as a gift to his fans.

And within that project, he released a fan favorite “Lies, Lies, Lies”-  check it out below!

Pretty dang catchy, right? I’m it will end up being another #1 hit because, well, it’s Morgan Wallen. He’s pretty much the Taylor Swift of Country music right now.

Here are the other songs on his project:

“Sunrise”

“Graveyard Whistling”

“I Deserve a Drink”

“I Wrote the Book”

“Everything I Love”

“Thinkin’ Bout Me”

Pretty cool, right?  What an iconic place to record. Also, he sounds great.

Morgan is currently working on his next project, as well as hitting the road BIG TIME this year.

Kacey Musgraves on”Saturday Night Live”

Last night, Kacey Musgraves was the Musical Guest on “Saturday Night Live” ahead the release of her new album “Deeper Well”, and of course, she owned it:

Here’s her performance of the title track “Deeper Well”:

And her latest single “Too Good to Be True”:

Kacey is always simplistic perfection with her music and her live performances. There’s something almost hypnotic about her voice, and her overall aura. I’ve never understood why she never got as much airplay as say… Carrie Underwood or Kelsea Ballerini in Country radio. I’ve always advocated for her, and I remember playing the fire out of “Merry Go Round”, “Follow Your Arrow” and “Blowin’ Smoke”, but for some reason they never hit the top of the charts.  Not that it matters… Kacey has proven that she doesn’t need twenty number one hits to be a staple.  I mean, Florida-Georgia Line had a ton of #1 songs, and let’s be real, they’re weren’t a patch on Kacey’s artistry and talent.  Kacey has stood her ground, and has the career longevity (and Grammys!) to prove it.

I’m excited for her next chapter, in which she returns to her Country roots. Her album “Deeper Well” drops March 15th.

She also announced her “Deeper Well” world our, and those dates are up at http://kaceymusgraves.com

And just for a throwback, here’s where a lot of Country fans discovered Kacey’s pure vocals:

Also, Granger Smith and his wife Amber play the couple in the video, and I am getting all the feels from that.

13 years ago. Whattttt?

Carly Pearce “hummingbird”

Well, my Friday morning has been made.

Carly Pearce just announced her fourth studio album via Big Machine Label Group! I figured it was coming soon, as she wiped her instagram clean this week- always a good indicator that something is coming.

The new album is called “hummingbird” and is out June 14th. And the title track is absolutely STUNNING:

How gorgeous is that?

I was immediately transported into another world with that song. It’s one that brings it’s own imagery, which is one of my favorite things that a song can do.

Here’s what Carly put on her instagram to tease the song:

I love that so much. It seems like Carly is coming through the tough times beautifully, and I can’t wait to hear the full album

You can also catch her on the road with Tim McGraw this Spring/Summer on the “Standing Room Only” tour, and you can find the dates at http://carlypearce.com
