new country music

Keith Urban “Straight Line”

It’s been a couple years since we’ve had new music from Keith Urban, and that all changed this morning.

Keith just dropped his first new song in 2 years called “Straight Line”, and it’s going to be the perfect Spring/Summer jam this year.

Yeah, that’s super catchy.  High energy, feel-good, fast paced, with some good guitar action near the end… I’m sure this will be another big hit for Keith!

I can totally see myself driving down the road jamming out to this one. It’s an instant mood lifter,

It almost sounds like it’s got cross-over potential for Adult Contemporary radio as well.  Look, there’s nothing wrong with genre-crossing. I have a lot of listeners that complain, but I feel that music doesn’t always have to be categorized. If it’s good, it’s good. Who cares?

Plus, anytime a Country artist crosses over, that just brings more attention to the Country genre, which is never a bad thing.

And yes, Keith has a new album in the works.

I’ll keep ya posted!

Megan Moroney “No Caller ID”

Megan Moroney is one of my favorite new artists on the Country scene. She’s got a unique, smoky voice that you don’t hear on the radio these days, as well as mad songwriting skills and smokeshow looks to complete the total package.

She burst onto the airwaves last year with her #1 debut single “Tennessee Orange” and she shows no signs of being a one-hit wonder.

Megan just released a new song yesterday, and it’s another great one- something ALL women (and guysm too, I’m sure) can releate to, as we all have been there.

It’s called “No Caller ID” and it’s really, really good.

I just love how the song flows, and the lyrics are spot on, as again, most of us have been there a time or two. Or three. Whatever.

If you haven’t checked out Megan’s highly lauded debut album “Lucky”, you need to get on that now. You won’t be dissapointed.

Also, Megan is hitting the road this Summer with Kenny Chesney on his stadium tour, which will only raise her profile more.

Luke Combs Unreleased Song “The Man He Sees In Me”

Luke Conbs seems to be making a habit of posting unreleased songs on socials these days, and hey, I’m not mad at it! He just posted this song he wrote with his friend Josh Phillips called “The Man He Sees in Me”, and it’s, of course, perfect.

Personally, I am loving the “Dad Songs” Luke is putting out these days. It’s where he’s at in life with two litle boys under two.  That’s what Country Music is supposed to be- life. And this is where he’s at in life, and I’m in the same place. Except, obviously not a dad.  But the song makes me think of my husband and father of my 2 year-old son, and I know Brandon already thinks his Daddy hung the moon, and I hope he never thinks otherwise.

I can’t wait for more Luke in 2024.

Honestly, I am really loving the direction Country Music is headed…

Gabby Barrett “Growin’ Up Raising You”

Gabby Barrett continues to put out songs that melt my heart.

The young soon-to-be mother of three, and American Idol star, has really made her mark on both the Country and Pop scene with some really solid songs, and her latest release “Growin’ Up Raising You” is no different.  As a mother myself- not a young one by any means- but still, as a mother to a two-year old, this one definitely hits home.

I’m not crying. It’s allergies.

Sure.

Even though I was thrity-eight when I had my son, he still “grew me up” so to speak, and really. motherhood has been the most incredible experience so far. Terrifying, frustrating, and absolutely glorious.

Also, Gabby’s latest single “Glory Days” is another great song which has hit me in the feels recently.

Expect more gems like this from Gabby on her new album “Chapter & Verse” out on February 2nd.

Luke Grimes “Clay Pigeons”

If you’re a fan of the massive hit TV show “Yellowstone” then you know all about Luke Grimes, who plays Kayce Dutton on the show. As of last year, he’s been getting into Country music, and his stuff is pretty good. I love his laid back, true Country sound, and his music is the perfect soundtrack to the ranch lifestyle, which, of course, is depicted in a very dramatic way on “Yellowstone”.

He just released a cover of the Blaze Foley song “Clay Pigeons” which was originally released back in 1989, and he does a solid job on it.

If you want more Luke, he just released his debut EP “Pain Pills or Pews” and you can get more info and tour dates at http://lukegrimesmusic.com

I can’t wait to hear more from him, and I REALLY can’t wait for the final few episodes of “Yellowstone” which is slated (for now) for next Fall.

Jusin Moore “This Is My Dirt”

Country singee Justin Moore just dropped a new single called “This is My Dirt”, and of course, I had to take a listen.

Holy macaroni, did it hit home for me.

Growing up on a farm in West TN, that I hope to one day return to and pass down to my son, this really resonates with me, and I’m sure it will for many who live in the rural areas who own land. It’s a special thing that money can’t really buy.

My dirt is covered in kudzoo, and strawberry flies take it over in the Summer, but dammit, it’s still mine.

They don’t make dirt anymore.

Kudos to Justin Moore for putting another great Country song out there!

I smell another #1 Country Radio hit, what do you think?

Lainey Wilson “Country’s Cool Again”

Ya’ll know I love me some Lainey Wilson.

Who doesn’t these days, right?

I’m happy to say that I was one of the first to the party. I know good when I see it (or hear it, in her case!).

Well, I was excited to see that Lainey is teasing a new song on social media called “Country’s Cool Again”.

Give it a listen:

@laineywilson There must be something in the water…#CountrysCoolAgain ???? ???? #countrymusic #acousticmusic ♬ original sound – Lainey Wilson

Yep. It’s gonna be a hit, for sure.

Also, here’s her performing it at Red Rocks recently:

Yassss!!!!

So, does that mean a new album?

I sure hope so. Her last release was “Bell Bottom Country” which came out last Fall, and was a huge hit. Her latest single “Watermelon Moonshine” is spending it’s 3rd week at #1 on the Country charts, and her collab with Jelly Roll “Save Me” is climbing the charts with lightening speed.

It’s safe to say that Lainey is here to stay!

Good.

Carly Pearce “Heels Over Head”

I have loved Carly Pearce since she first hit the Country scene, and dammit, I love her even more after hearing this song!

It’s called “Heels Over Head” and was released early this morning.

Yasssss…. that song is a sick burn to someone… possibly to whoever dated her ex-husband Michael Ray after the divorce?  You know Carly loves to write about real life.

Seriously, I love what Carly is doing for the Country genre. True Country music, great songwriting, real-life experiences, and a fantastic voice to tell the story. She’s got it ALL.

Also, expect more music from Carly in the future. She’s been teasing new stuff on instagram, and I can’t wait to hear more!

Chris Stapleton “Think I’m In Love”

Chris Stapleton continues his streak of songs that are straight fire.

The one he just released this morning is another winner.

It’s called “Think I’m I Love With You”, and it’s one hell of a bluesy, sexy groove.

Hot damn, right?

That’s a potential panty dropper right there.

I love the combination he creates mixing the Country, Blues, and Classic Rock vibes.

His new studio album “Higher” drops November 10th, and I can’t wait for more!

Ashley McBryde “Cool Little Bars”

Today’s crop of Women in Country Music is pretty damn amazing.

Ashley McBryde is definitely one of my favorites! An amazing, pure Country voice, fantastic songwriting, and a “realness” that is lacking in the industry… she’s got it all.

Her new song “Cool Little Bars” came out this morning, and yep, it totally delivers.

This song reminds me of all the little bars in West Tennessee and Northern Mississippi that I used to frequent when I was in cover bands. The shadier, the better!

Some of my best nights have been spent at “Cool Little Bars”… at least from what I can remember.

In fact, I first laid eyes on my future husband at a “BYOB” bar called “Southern Comfort” in Horn Lake, MS.

I was wearing a “Jesus is My Homeboy” shirt and was carrying a bottle of Jack Daniels.

Goooood Times….

Ashley’s new album “Devil I Know” comes out on September 8th.
