Bon Jovi “Legendary”

As a child of the 80’s and 90’s, naturally I’m a Bon Jovi fan. I mean, how can you NOT be? One of the greatest American Rock bands, and like many of them, they are still going strong.

This morning, I was pleasantly surprised to see not only a new song from the legendary band, but also an album announcement!

The new single “Legendary”, written by Jon Bon Jovi, Billy Falcon, and John Shanks, is basically a reflection of where Jon is in his life at 62.

He recently underwent surgery on his vocal chords, and during the break, he said he had time to re-evaluate his life, and recognize the things that really matter. And the song is a tribute to his wife Dorthea, who has been by his side since the beginning, hence the “Brown Eyed Girl” reference.

I love it! Just an overall happy song, and I am lucky to be able to relate, as I write this with my beautiful two-year old son stealing my phone and throwing it on the kithcen floor after sneezing on it, and my Husky snuggling my feet.

It’s the little things in life that matter.

We so often forget that.

Bon Jovi’s 16th studio album- and their first in four years- “Forever”- comes out on June 7th.

Metalhead Horse Isn’t a Fan of Country Music

This viral video combines two of my favorite things: Music and Horses!

Autumn Purdy and her horse “Pretty” have been going viral for her horse’s love of Heavy Metal.

This is the best thing I’ve seen all week!

Clearly, Pretty isn’t a Morgan Wallen fan.

Pretty is a rocker, dammit, and don’t you forget it!

My horse is more into Elton John and The Eagles… she’s middle-aged like that.

Check out more videos of Pretty’s rockin’ self on her owener’s Tik Tok here.

Pearl Jam “Dark Matter”

We knew we were getting new Pearl Jam soon, and lead singer Eddie Vedder said to expect a “harder” sound on this record, which, I was prety pumped for.

Well… got a pleasant surprise this morning when they dropped the title track of their 12th studio album “Dark Matter”, and it kills.

Damn. That’s good.

It’s reminds me of the early Pearl Jam days, which is not a bad thing.

Now, honestly, I’ve not always been the biggest Pearl Jam fan- I like some of their songs, but I don’t worship at the altar of Eddie Vedder like some of my friends do, but I appreciate them as a band, and this new single is really badass.

Rock isn’t dead.

Sorry Gene Simmons.

Pearl Jam’s new album “Dark Matter” drops April 19th, and you can find out more at http://pearljam.com

Exit Eden “Separate Ways”

One of my friends – what up Tony Page Jr.!- alerted me to the recent existence of this cover of one of my favorite Joureny songs “Separate Ways”. It’s by an all-female supergroup called “Exit Eden” who specialize in stellar covers, and I was pretty damn impressed.

It’s like a a mash-up of “The Craft” and “Celtic Women”. That’s the vibe I’m getting.

The group is composed of Marina La Torraca, Clementine Delauney, and Anna Brunner, and will release their new album “Femme Fatales” on January 14th.

I’m honestly excited to hear more. These are some hella talented women, and I can’t wait to hear what else they cover!

I was even more thrilled to discover what an amazing, uplifting and positive human being he is.

The Foo Fighters on SNL

Last night, one of my favorite bands ever in existence- The Foo Fighters- took the stage as the musical guests on “Saturday Night Live”.

As per usual, they freaking slayed it.

I LOVE that they were joined by H.E.R. for this song. She’s incredible.

Also, mad props to Christopher Walken for introducing them properly this time. Anyone remember this from 20 years ago?

Memory Lane, man.

I’m honestly just happy to see the Foos keeping it going so string after the devastating loss of Taylor Hawkins.  I can’t imagine how difficult it must be to take the stage each time without him.

Way to keep on keeping on.

I know they have a big 2024 ahead, and I’m just excited to see what they do next.

Rolling Stones Feat. Lady Gaga and Stevie Wonder “Sweet Sounds of Heaven”

I have been waiting on this drop for weeks since I heard it was going to happen.

The Rolling Stones have teamed up with Lady Gaga and Stevie Wonder for a song called “Sweet Sounds of Heaven” and it’ll take you to church whether you’re a believer or not!

Duddddeee… I was NOT expecting that. But I like it. A lot.

Mick sounds great, as does Gaga (always!) and Stevie tickling the ivories… definitely adding this one to the playlist!

Of course, “Sweet Sounds of Heaven” is off their upcoming album “Hackney Diamonds” out October 20th.

I don’t know about you, but I’m excited for more.

Rolling Stones for Life!

Dolly Parton Feat. Linda Perry “What’s Up”

Dolly Parton just made my Friday EVEN better by giving us another song off of her upcoming “Rockstar” album. She has teamed up with the legendary Linda Perry for a version of  “What’s Up” by 4 Non Blondes. At first, I wondered how she would handle the escalating vocals and vibe, but who was I kidding?

It’s Freaking Dolly.

I don’t think there is anything she can’t sing. And remember, she’s in her mid-70’s.

#RESPECT

I seriously cannot wait for her full “Rockstar” album, which drops November 17th.

Ok, I actually love a lot of those.

I grew up on those songs, and most of them still give me a seratonin pop when I hear them.

Here’s a couple that I personally have never enjoyed:

Peter Gabriel “Sledgehammer”:

And “Beth” by KISS:

Just, no. Also, Beth was probably sick of her dude running around cheating on her with a thousand chicks. #TeamBeth all day.

What Rock song or album can you not stand?

Carrie Underwood ROCKS!

There really is no end to Carrie Underwood’s talents.

She got to open up for Guns N’ Roses over the weekend in Canada over the past weekend, and naturally, she added some Rock covers into her setlist and she pretty much killed it on everything from Motorhead to Led Zeppelin.

Check it out!

Motorhead: “Ace of Spades”

Led Zeppelin “Rock and Roll”

Joan Jett “Bad Reputation”

Pat Benetar “Hit Me With Your Best Shot”

Rolling Stones “Wild Horses”

Not too shabby, right?

It’s just fun to see this side of Carrie- who usually gives major Country Barbie Vibes- and see her let loose and get her rock on.  She can totally handle it vocally and performance wise.

As a Rock and Country fan, color me impressed!

Honestly, I prefer this side of Carrie, as opposed to a lot of her Country music of late.

Can we get a Rock album next?

I’d so be down.

Or at least a Carrie/Axl collab on a song.

Come on, universe. Make it happen!
