Motley Crue is moving on from Mick Mars with their first recording with new guitarist John 5 with their new release “Dogs of War”.

Now, I love me some Motley Crue. Especially the “Theater of Pain” and “Dr. Feelgood”  eras.

And I was kind of excited when I heard the opening guitar riff, thinking, “Oh, heck, this could be good”.  And then there was kind of a letdown aferwards.

I mean, it’s not horrble. But Vince Neil’s vocals are super distorted (probably because his singing isn’t up to par, and hasn’t been for years), and it reminds me of bands that were trying to hard to be “hard” in the late 90’s/early 2000’s.

At least, that’s the vibe I caught from it.

That being said, kudos to them for keeping the Crue Train rolling, and I’m looking forward to more new music from them. They just signed with Big Machine, so I have a feeling some good stuff could come from that.
