Joker: Folie à Deux – Official Teaser Trailer

The “Joker: Folie A Deux” Offical Teaser Trailer dropped this morning, and it looks pretty intense:

At this point, very little is known about the plot, just that it takes place in Gotham, and The Joker (played by Joaquin Pheonix) and Harley Quinn (portrayed by Lady Gaga) are a thing and bust out of their asylum.

Looks promising, though!

Also, I think Gaga is going to SLAY this role. It’s totally her.

“Joker: Folie A Deux” hits theaters October 4th- 5 years after the original.

Yes, it’s been 5 years.

What the heck?

Hank Williams Covering Beyonce’s “Texas Hold ‘Em”

First of all, congratulations to Beyonce.

Her “Cowboy Carter” album is #1, making her the first African American woman to have a #1 Country Album.

Second of all, AI can sometimes be pretty awesome.

One of my favorite creators “There I Ruined It” made an AI version of Hank Williams singing Beyonce’s hit “Texas Hold ‘Em” and it’s pretty dang Country:

Ok, that’s pretty dang good.  I’m sure it angered the Country Music Gods, but hey, it made me laugh.

And now that will be in my head all week.

Also, can we stop hating on Beyonce Country?

I’m haven’t always been her biggest fan, but I’m not mad at her stepping into the Country Lane. It’s not permanent. It’s a part of her “Renaissance” album project. You know, kind of like how Dolly did a Rock album last year?

Honestly, the album isn’t bad. There’s a few songs I like on there. And really, anyone who ever listened to a Florida-Georgia Line record, or even some of Carrie Underwood and Luke Bryan’s stuff can’t complain.  Because they’ve had #1 hits on Country Radio that are WAY less Country than “Texas Hold ‘Em”.

Let it go.

If Beyonce making a Country album is what is making you angry these days, count your blessings.

Little Big Town and Sugarland Perform at 2024 CMT Awards

Last night was the 2024 CMT Awards.

Of course, it was overshadowed by Morgan Wallen getting arrested on three Felony charges for being a drunk idiot- more on that here: https://www.whiskeyriff.com/2024/04/08/morgan-wallen-arrested-on-multiple-felony-charges-after-allegedly-throwing-a-chair-off-the-roof-of-eric-churchs-nashville-bar-chiefs/

But before that craziness went down, the CMT Awards took place in Austin, TX, and my favorite performance of the night was Little Big Town with the reunited Sugarland covering Phil Collins’ “Take Me Home”:

Color me impressed!

But then again, I always am when it comes to Little Big Town and Sugarland.

They always bring it live, which can’t be said for all artists.

Also, Karen Fairchild, Kimberly Schlapman, and Jennifer Nettles all look amazing. Talk about aging goals!

And it looks like this wasn’t just a quick reunion for Sugarland, as they’re on the road with Little Big Town this year.

Carly Pearce “My Place”

Carly Pearce just released another beautiful break-up song… that’s kind of her thing, of course. Creating beauty out of pain.  If you’re a fan of hers, you know she’s in the aftermath of a divorce from fellow Country star Michael Ray, and she is ending that chapter with a new album called “hummingbird” due out later this Spring. And to get us ready for it, she released a new song off of it called “My Place”, which was written by Carly, Shane McAnally, and Josh Osbourne:

Yup, another winner from Carly.

Except I wouldn’t have left the good wine in his bar. Rookie mistake.

“hummingbird” drops June 14th, and Carly is currently on the road with Tim McGraw- get the dates at http://carlypearce.com

Dolly Parton “Southern Accents”

Ok, so I am REALLY excited for the upcoming Tom Petty Country Tribute album “Petty Country” which features twenty of Tom Petty’s greatest hits reimagined by some of Country Music’s biggest stars.

I’m a HUGE Tom Petty fan, as well as a Country Music lover, so for me, this is just musical Heaven.

I’m even more excited now that Dolly Parton released her contribution to the album- an absolutely stunning version of “Southern Accents”:

Dolly is basically the Queen of Life, and I am not accepting any arguments here.

Seriously, how beautiful was that? Remember, Dolly is 77, and her voice is still spectacular.

In case you need a refresher, here’s the original:

Tom Petty- a one of a kind artist with an unmistakable voice. He is so missed.

Post Malone Teases More New Music!

Post Malone is such a dang tease…

As we all know, he’s going Country (I mean, who isn’t these days?) but at least he’s been wanting to make the move for years- it’s not just because it’s the cool thing to do right now.

Anyhow, he’s been in Nashville working with some big names lik Morgan Wallen, ERNEST, Luke Combs and Billy Strings to name a few, and has been teasing us with clips of his new stuff on social media for weeks now.

His latest tease?

Here ya go:

Anyone else ready for the real thing?

I have to admit, I wasn’t a big Post Malone fan until a few years ago.

He has really impressed me lately with his talent, and his laid back attitude. He honestly seems like a super fun guy.

As per usual, stay tuned…

Lainey Wilson and Chris Tomlin Perform a Beautiful Rendition of “Amazing Grace”

Well, this just gave me all the goosebumps…

This past Good Friday, Lainey Wilson made a surprise appearance at popular Christian artist Chris Tomlin’s show at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville for a performance of “Amazing Grace”, and it was just as good as you would think it would be:

Well, ok!  That song never fails to give me chills, but you put Lainey on it, and it’s just… wow.

Perhaps a Gospel album is in her future?

If not, it totally should be!

Lainey has a big year coming up, and you can get all the tour dates at http://LaineyWilson.com

Emmy Russell Slays Once Again on “American Idol”

“American Idol” Season 1.267 (or something like that) is well underway.

Honestly? I haven’t watched since 2011 when Scotty McCreery won.

BUT every now again, a video from the show surfaces, and I’m all like, “Damn, that’s pretty good.”

Like the legendary Loretta Lynn’s grandaughter Emmy Russell…

She wowed in her audition with an original song called “Skinny” about her former srtuggles with an eating disorder. She’s now in the Hollywood Round, and she slayed with another super-personal original song called “Like That.”

Dang.

Both original songs are so relateable, and something a lot of young women go through.  Her songwriting is on point, and her voice is super unique… and her bloodline? Well, I’m sure Loretta is cheering her on up in Heaven.

She almost makes me want to check out “American Idol” again.

Terri Clark and Ashley McBryde “Better Things to Do”

Did you hear?

90’s Country Icon Terri Clark has a new project coming out called “Terri Clark: Take Two”, which is kind of a re-imagining of her greatest hits featuring some of the biggest female Country stars of today with her on some of her greatest hits.

Growing up on Country Music in the 90’s, Terri Clark was a staple on the radio, and hearing this made me all giddy.

She has teamed up with everyone from Lainey Wilson to Lauren Alaina to Ashley McBryde, and she just released her version of “Better Things to Do” featuring Ashley, who I love.

Check it out!

Cool, right?

I loved this song in Junior High, and full disclosure… I once dedicated this song on the local Country radio station in Henderson, TN to my first “boyfriend” who broke up with me because I was too annoying.

It went over like a turd in a punch bowl, but I made my point.

Oh, good times…

To be fair, 13-year-old me was kind of a weirdo, so I kind of get why he dropped me.

But still… rude.

“Terri Clark: Take Two” drops on May 31st, the same day that the Tom Petty Country tribute “Petty Country” comes out.

Needless to say, I’m pretty dang stoked!

Beyonce and Miley Cyrus “II Most Wanted”

Beyonce released her new album “Renaissance Act II: Cowboy Carter” yesterday, and there are some pretty cool songs on there.

First, let me remind you that Beyonce isn’t “going Country”. She released a Country-ish album because she can. Just like how Dolly Paron released a “Rock” album last Fall. Because why the heck not?

And really, those who are making hateful comments… well, you’re just proving her point on how some close-minded Country fans can be. Not all, mind you. But a lot. Also, that negative attitude isn’t a good look, but hey, you do you.

That being said, this duet she released with Miley Cyrus called “II Most Wanted”, and it’s a really cool track:

First of all, I like that it’s a proper duet- not just a feature artist on a single line or verse.

Second, I love the feel of the song. And it reminds me of the relationship that I have with my husband of almost 17 years- I love being his shotgun rider through life, and this song makes me think of that.

It just has a cool, chill vibe, and I really enjoyed it.

That’s what music is about, right?

Something that you enjoy listening to and moves you.

Have a great weekend!
