Selena Gomez “Love On”

2024 is shaping up to be a great year already for new music!

That being said, Pop Star Selena Gomez just dropped her new track “Love On” like 2 seconds ago:

Ok, that is definitely one of my favorites of hers.

Cute, catchy Pop perfection right there!

I can see this being on TV/Movie soundtracks, commercials, etc.  I have a feeling this will be her biggest hit to date, and a Spring/Summer smash.

I’m calling it right now.

What do you think of Selena Gomez’s new song?

Post Malone Teases Collab With Luke Combs!

Posty is going all in on his Country Music career!

First off, he was definitely giving that Country sound during his performance of “America the Beautiful” prior to the Superbowl last week.  And now he’s teasing a collab with Country superstar Luke Combs!

And you know what? It’s sounds like it will be pretty good:

Not too shabby, right?

I can’t wait for the full song to drop. I’m sure it won’t be long since he’s teasing it.

Honestly, I’m not mad at about artists in other genres trying their hand in Country music.  I wish people could be more open-minded about it. Country isn’t just about beer, trucks, heartbreak, and tan legs in cutoff jeans… ok that’s a lot of it, sure. But it’s a story. It’s genuine emotion and a lifestyle… three chords and the truth and all that.  You don’t have to be a redneck from the hills of Kentucky to get it right. And what if someone wants that lifestyle later on?  If they choose the country over the city like my parents did in 1992? Is that not ok?

Keep an open mind, kiddos.

Anyhow, I’m looking forward to “Country Posty”.

If nothing else, he may bring a whole new fanbase to the genre, and that’s not a bad thing.

Billy Joel “Turn The Lights Back On” Official Music Video

Billy Joel is back on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart for the first time in decades with his first single in 31 years ‘Turn the Lights Back On”.  The release was well worth the wait, as it is a great song, and classic Billy Joel, really.  He even performed it at The Grammy Awards a couple of weeks ago to a well-deserved standing ovation.

Well, it just go better with his music video for “Turn the Lights Back On”- now THIS was a great use of AI, as it’s basically Billy Joel throught the years performing the same song:

Ok, for some reason I started tearing up at this.

My entire life, I’ve loved Billy Joel- he has always been a staple- and seeing this is strangely poignant.

Maybe I’m just emotional this morning, or just feeling my middle age, but this video hit me hard.

Dammit, Billy Joel.

But seriously, how great is this video?

I’m totally down with AI if it’s used like this.

Kelly Clarkson “Save Me”

Ok, I admit it. I am living for “Kellyoke” these days.

Seriously, I love seeing Kelly Clarkson’s take on different songs, and she hasn’t failed us yet.

Her latest effort? Covering the Jelly Roll hit “Save Me”.

I have a thousand and three chill bumps after this.

I mean, damn, how good is that?

And Jelly Roll, naturally, was extremely impressed as well, as he expressed on his socials:

Having Kelly cover your song on her show has to be a double-edged sword, though.

It’s great that she deemed a song great enough to cover, sure, but she’ll also sing it better than anyone else ever could.

Girlfriend sets the bar HIGH.

What song would you like to see Kelly Clarkson cover?

Lainey Wilson “Country’s Cool Again”

Lainey Wilson is on FIRE and there ain’t no hosing that girl down.

Fresh off of winning her first Grammy, Lainey just dropped a new song called “Country’s Cool Again”, and it’s catchy, Country perfection!

Lainey can’t miss right now, and I loved that song as soon as I hit play.  It’s fun, autobiographical, and factual… Country IS cool again. In fact, I don’t think it’s ever been hotter, except in the early 90’s when Garth Brooks was setting the world on fire. Country music is HUGE right now, and being a “country girl” myself,  growing up on the genre, and working in Country Radio, I couldn’t be happier. And I am so proud that we have amazing artists like Lainey on the forefront.

Lainey is hitting the road this year, and she’s hella good live. Get info and dates at http://laineywilson.com

Speaking of live music, here’s Lainey debuting “Country’s Cool Again” at Red Rocks last Fall:

Hot Damn, Ya’ll!

Pearl Jam “Dark Matter”

We knew we were getting new Pearl Jam soon, and lead singer Eddie Vedder said to expect a “harder” sound on this record, which, I was prety pumped for.

Well… got a pleasant surprise this morning when they dropped the title track of their 12th studio album “Dark Matter”, and it kills.

Damn. That’s good.

It’s reminds me of the early Pearl Jam days, which is not a bad thing.

Now, honestly, I’ve not always been the biggest Pearl Jam fan- I like some of their songs, but I don’t worship at the altar of Eddie Vedder like some of my friends do, but I appreciate them as a band, and this new single is really badass.

Rock isn’t dead.

Sorry Gene Simmons.

Pearl Jam’s new album “Dark Matter” drops April 19th, and you can find out more at http://pearljam.com

Cetaphil Superbowl Commercial

Let’s be honest, one of the best parts of the Super Bowl is the commercials. Unless you’re a Chiefs and Taylor Swift fan, of course!

The trend these past few years has been for brands to release their commericals early.  Some people complain about it, but, with a average of $7 million per 30 second spot, I honestly don’ blame for companies to do whatever they have to do to get their money’s worth.

Cetaphil released their Super Bowl commerical yesterday, and it’s a tearjerker for sure. Plus it’s got a clear Taylor Swift theme without actually mentioning her name:

Come on, you know it’s cute.

Plus, Cetaphil is a good product- I’ve got problem skin, and the cleanser is amazing.

No, I’m not being paid for saying that. They spent 7 million, so I’m giving them a freebie.

I’m also not mad about them capitilizing on Taylor Swift’s popularity, and her influence on the NFL this past season. She did bring a lot of new, young female fans to the NFL, and really, that’s not a bad thing. If it makes dads and daughters bond, I’m all for it. Heck, my dad and I have had several Taylor Swift-centric conversations of late, and I’m 41 and he’s 72. Whatever works, right?

Hate all you want, it’s not going away.

In these crazy times, anything that brings a smile to one’s face is a good thing.

This commercial did that for me.

Also, GO CHIEFS!

HARDY “ROCKSTAR”

One of the biggest stars in Country Music right now is HARDY.  Singer/Songwiter and one hell of a performer, this guy has had a massive few years.  And he also had a recent Rock hit with “Jack” which went #1 on the Mainstream Rock charts last year.

Well, he just announced his first full-length Rock album (details coming soon), and he released the first single off of it called “ROCKSTAR” this morning, and no, it’s not a Nickleback cover…

It IS pretty dang awesome, though, and it has one of the best music videos I’ve seen in a long time.

SO much YES right there.

Great song, great video, and great artist.

The trifecta, kiddos!

Can’t WAIT for the full album!

Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani “Purple Irisis”

Ok, first off, I love Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani together. I’m a big fan of the whole “Opposites Attract” thing, as my husband and I are definitely opposites in so many ways, but after almost 17 years of marriage, I think it’s working out pretty well.

There’s been a lot of tabloid rumors about Blake and Gwen being on the rocks, and I’m thinking the release of their new duet “Purple Irisis” is their “Piss Off” song.

Ok, I am really, really loving that.

Their last couple of collabs were definitely Country, but this is more Pop, with Gwen’s unmistakeable sound, with kind of a No Doubt vibe to it.

I love that it references aging, and still thinking someone is hot, even into their forties and fifties.  Again, kind of living that life right now, as I just turned 41, and it’s not 2006 anymore. My neck is proof of that.

Also, the “purple irisis” reference is to Gwen’s love of gardening, which she does a lot of on Blake’s Oklahoma ranch.

Maybe, haters, just maybe they’re actually happy?

I mean, I get it. Gavin Rossdale is hot and all, but Blake knows how to gut a deer and drive a tractor.

He wins.

Coors Light Super Bowl Commercial Feat. Lainey Wilson

With the Super Bowl on Sunday, some of the highly-anticipated commercials are dropping early, like the Budweiser Clydesdales and the Uber Eats featuring Jelly Roll. Now Coors Light released their commercial featuring Lainey Wilson and LL Cool J:

Honestly? I was kind of disappointed, as Lainey was only shown for 2.5 seconds tops. I figured she’s have more of a presence in the commercial, since she’s the new face of Coors Light. But whatever.

I really thought she’d be the main star, like Jelly Roll was in his.

Still, even a split second cameo in a Super Bowl commercial is a huge deal, and I’m glad Lainey is getting some major world wide love.  She certainly deserves it!

That being said, I prefer Coors Banquet, and will be chugging that while cheering on The Chiefs Sunday night.

GO CHIEFS!!!
