It’s Janurary.

The most depressing time of the year, and this Polar Vortex thing or whatever deep freeze that is taking over the country doesn’t help.

So, how about a pick-me-up?

Ranker.com had fans vote on the best “feel good” country songs of all time.  Here are the Top 10 . . .

1.  “Friends in Low Places” by Garth Brooks.  (1990)

It’d be cool if Garth would put his videos on youtube, but whatever Garth. You do you.

But yeah, if you don’t sing along at the top of your lungs every time this song comes on, are you even Country?

2.  “Chicken Fried” by Zac Brown Band  (2008)

This was The Zac Brown Band’s first big hit, and it still brings a smile to my face, and makes me want fried chicken.

Then again, everything makes me want fried chicken.

3.  “It’s Five O’Clock Somewhere” by Alan Jackson and Jimmy Buffett  (2003)

Ahhh! I love this song. And Jimmy Buffett, may he rest in the big Margaritvaille in the sky. What a freaking legend.

4.  “Boot Scootin’ Boogie” by Brooks & Dunn  (1991)

This was THE jam in the early 90’s. I still know every word, even if I never mastered the line dance.

5.  “All My Ex’s Live in Texas” by George Strait  (1987)

If you don’t love George Strait, you’re unamerican. That is all.

6.  “Song of the South” by Alabama  (1988)

Same goes for Alabama. If you don’t celebrate their entire catalogue, you aren’t living your life right.

7.  “Where the Green Grass Grows” by Tim McGraw  (1998)

Definitely one of my favorites from Tim McGraw- reminds me of home. Man, I can’t wait to get back there someday for good… farm life is the best life. At least for me it is.
8.  “No Shirt, No Shoes, No Problem” by Kenny Chesney  (2002)

Kenny Chesney has no shortage of great beachy party songs. He also rocks the no shirt/cowboy hat look pretty dang well, which is also a pick-me-up in itself.

9.  “Barefoot Blue Jean Night” by Jake Owen  (2011)

This was THE Country song of 2011, and a career maker for Jake Owen. It’s still a Counry radio staple, and never gets old.

10.  “Life Is a Highway” by Rascal Flatts  (2006)

I’m honestly “meh” about Rascal Flatts and always have been (except for “Moving On- GREAT song), but they did do justice to the Tom Cochrane original “Life is a Highway” for the “Cars” movie soundtrack.
